just reading though the posts...I've had a lot of injections over the years - a lot

agree that some doctors are just better at it, but I've had some cysts that just keep coming back after 4 or 5 injections and I've had all of those excised...just a small cut and they pull the cyst wall out, it leaves a small scar but I can deal with it and then it really goes away

looks like accutane is working for you- lucky!!! I sadly was one of the ones it didn't work for, after 7 miserable months of starts and stops....but you are in the lucky group, so keep on with it

just wanted to share my perspective...

Thank you and you got me thinking about getting the big one excised, I also thought about it before

How do I know it's working? By the dry skin?

i do think your skin is looking a lot better. i would try a few more injections before i got the bigger one excised but i would get the injections done at a different derm.

I say it's working because you are dry, skin tone looks better....the big it's working is no more NEW CYSTS! when you get there you've made it over the hump!

Thanks peeps for the responses :) I'm learning to deal a little better. The picture below is one from a couple of days ago with makeup and the bottom is with none and no moisturizer. The big one seems to be coming back slowly. No worries because I'll get another shot or maybe the accutane plus the shot will kill it for good and if that doesn't work I will be getting it excised. My attitude is slightly getting better :) weird I know. Some days are worse then others.

Here's an update. Skin is really dry which is to be expected- I have been moisturizing before work etc..

The first one looks like it's getting smaller and the second one is just blah

Just chiming in,

Here is my cortisone atrophy, exactly 1 month post injection.

I had 3 injections in close proximity to kill a mega-cyst.

I'm also on accurate.

It has still been sinking in deeper and deeper, even 1-month post treatment...

Hey you, thanks for thinking of me :). Haven't been on in a while- IVe been occupied at the gym trying to strength train but so far it's going ok. My lips are getting crazy chapped- like crazy lol and skin is getting even more dry. Here's a pic- I actually came on here to post it anyway.

Cysts are looking a little better- I have an appt with derm on the 18th. I hope it goes down even more soon, I've been freakishly patient lately

Hey Krissy,

Looking good! They don't look nearly as angry! So happy Accutane is going well!

Maybe on the 18th she will do another round of shots and the dam things will finally disappear!

Keep us updated! :)

Meh it still bugs me but not as much. I was wondering who does excisions? The derm? Because I just want these off my face even though they aren't inflammed. I'm getting pretty sick of the Accutane too- it's causing my hands to look like lizard hands and my face to dry up in my chin area- even tho I do moisturize.

I just want them off

I am sure they are driving you nuts. Ugh! Yeah the derm can do excisions but i doubt they would do it while you are on accutane. I would get them shot again and see what happens. I would think the accutane would take care of them at some point though. How many months you have left on it?

I've been on it for about 2 months now with 3 months left. Yah i guess your right because I don't heal as good while I'm on accutane. If I pop a pimple it creates a big scab- unlike before

I've had 2 lesions where inflamed pimples turn into non inflamed bumps that took between 2-4 weeks to go away fortunately they didn't leave a pit. Unfortunately I now currently have 2 pesky stubborn spots that are bothering me. They are not at all inflamed anymore but when I rub my finger over them (softly) I feel a hard bump. They have decreased in size this passed week, hopefully they just leave a mark and not a textured scar! I hardly break out with inflamed pimples anymore but when I do they take forever to go away. it's sad every time I get a cyst or inflamed pimple with no head, I worry about it leaving a crater.

Yes they are a pain. I stopped counting the months I've had this. It has to be about 4 months now arghh. Mine also go into stages or hard and then inflammed lumps

Small update guys. Derm appt in couple of days and I will let you know more than.

Skin is flaky as h** been on 40 mg of Accutane for a month and 20 mg the month before that. So 2 months in total- I almost want to stop taking them. Sometimes my moods are very unpredictable. I will stick it out for a bit.

These things I think might have to be excised but Ill wait and see for that too. What a nightmare lol

Hey :) things are better but they aren't completely gone. Had an appointment with my derm on the 18th of Feb and she injected them again. Here's what it looks like with and without makeup. Skin is terribly dry but I usually put on moisturizer. Went up to 60 mg from 40 mg of Accutane and I'll be on this for another 4 months. Been on it for a little over 2 months now.

The other too red spots you see are just minor imperfections from a small breakout that I had.

Hi Krissy,

Looking way better! Accutane should kill those suckers altogether soon. Hope you're doing well with your Accutane journey!

Yah everything's dandy except the fact that I get a pimple every month in this area and when it comes to a head I pop it, and it goes down but leaves a red mark. Is it the Accutane? I'm 3 months in almost and the breakout stage should be done mind you I just got my dose upped 2 weeks ago. And if you look closely the cortisone shots made my 2 cysts on each side smaller but they look weird ugh fml

Im planning to get a cortisone injection for a cyst on my neck in a couple weeks if it doesnt subside. I've heard that it can cause atrophy at the injection site.

I want to know if the atrophy is temporary and if so, how long it takes to fill up.
