Snapped- so sorry this happened! What TS cream did you use? Your skin reaction is common damage. Well, not common, but well-known as a side effect. Your skin definitely does not look really thin in your photos. Is it shiny? How do you know you have straie? Mine is shiny and very old looking. V is right about nutrition. Basically topical steroids stop your skin receptors from working properly, causing your fibroblasts (the cells that are essential for collagen, elastin production) to stop producing. Though they initially stop or suppress inflammation, they do the opposite with long-term use and cause the release of cytokines, etc. that break down the skin further and cause inflammation. Be careful going to a derm. I've found nearly all of them are useless. The fibroblast therapy and stem cells are likely a better option. Like V, I only use all-natural skin products that are rich in Vit C, manuka honey, and skin-healthy oils. We will get through this.
A derm did this to me without consent to treatment.
Your damage shouldn't be too bad with just hydrocortisone....that is OTC. Where are you located? V and I were given very strong steroids that are inappropriate for the face.
Your pores close? Is that when the inflammation is down?
Thanks for your comments V and cutechick.
V my skin is very sensitive - thanks for the suggestion. I will try using dr. fukaya's lotion.
Do you have pictures of your skin? Can you post them?
Cutechick, my skin is thin when I touch my face and if I look very closely I have fine wrinkles and striae. Although I have been taking MSM supplements for the last few months and my skin has thickened greatly. I'm glad to hear that hydrocortisone is less potent steroid.
I use only all natural products. For a good four months I stopped using all cleansers and only washed my face with yogurt and milk. It made a big difference. And then I started to use cleansers again and the inflammation came back! Now I only wash with castille soap and I use emu oil and zinc oxide sunscreen. My inflamation is the worse during my cycle.
My pores do close - my skin looks the best when I wake up in the morning - i have very little redness and my skin looks smoother.
The problem is that my cystic acne doesn't go away! I can't put my hands near my face without washing them or I break out - and I get cystic acne and that's what cuases all these indented scars.
I'm think of using the dermaroller and wheatgrass. Have you tried drinking wheatgrass or using it topically? I have heard many good things about it.
Thank you both for the help and encouraging words
Hi cutechick,
I just realized I didn't answer some of your questions.
I used an over the counter hydrocortisone cream - I'm from Toronto, Canada.
I have pics of my skin but my camera doesnt take texture of skin. i should sort out in settings.
My skin looks better than yours cause i didnt have acne and postacne scars, but it is very thin and flabby. I will wait 6 month after my sprs therapy and than i want use dermaroller.
i think you should calm your skin, and when your skin become less sensetive you could try dermaroller.
there is not seen texture. but you can see area of damage.
this pic was before treatment
Hi, my skin is just very, very thin. I will post a photo that shows the damage. It is much worse then yours V, but definitely shows the same redness on the cheeks. The SPRS was 6 vials each time? That is amazing. It is much more expensive in the US. Fifteen thousand for two syringes three times. How do I post photos? V- is the redness gone? SNAPPED- I am also in Toronto. Please be careful with derms here. It was a derm who did this to me! She's well-known and gave me Betaderm 0.05% in a cream she made to use for 90 days straight on my face!
SNAPPED, it is my photos. first - before, second - after. I dont know how to explain my hole. It is visible in certain light. i will try take pic of this.
i think, you skin can improve to better. You should choose treatment and wait. You need time.
SNAPPED i think dermaroller can help to your skin. Dermaroller + special serums, topicals and nutrition.
Please, dont worry about your skin. I know it is hard. But bad emotions destroy. Be positive.
Vzhik- Your skin looks so much better! I don't know if the difference in lighting in your photo is part of it or not. I am not sure what you mean by posting on another site and then posting here. Snapped- my skin is actually worse than yours. It is deeply scarred, and much, much thinner. I am trying to figure out how to post a photo. As a friend said, it looks kind of mummified and almost translucent. I will say you cannot dermaroll on skin that is actively broken out as it will spread the infection around. I think V is right. Your skin doesn't look structurally damaged like ours. It is likely steroid-induced acne that you are dealing with.
V- Were three syringes enough for your whole face? I need pretty much my whole face done. It is 15 000 for six syringes in the US, but they do two syringes three times. I guess I could ask for three twice. I need to fundraise for the procedure though. I love that you said negative emotions destroy. I agree. And positive thinking can heal.
photo in other light.
Cute, three syringes were enough. Derma did injections on my chin, forehead, cheeks - most. She even did injections into my lips (she said it wold improve contour).
Cute, you can upload photo here http://postimage.org/ , you will get there link of your photo. Then you can post link here.
Cutechick!! it's not that bad at all!! It's almost as if that can go away after a couple rolls with the dermaroller.
I will make sure to shop around for dermos - I don't care if it involves waiting longer - i will make sure I get a second, or third opinion before taking their advice.
Snapped- My damage is very bad and this photo does not even show it all. It is even worse on the other side. V- thank you so much. I am struggling. I received my x-rays from before and after jaw surgery and can see that my bite fits less well now and that my jaw positioning is worse. I feel very upset with the Canadian medical system. I had no issues before. I will continue to advocate for myself and to be hopeful. I do think that I need something like Matriderm along with SPRS/LaViv and likely stem cell fat transfer. Does it look really thin to you? Can you tell me what you see? I am grateful to be in contact with you.
On the worst damaged areas I do get quite dry and flaky. I think due to the loss of fibroblasts, there is a loss of H. Acid. I just looked at a before and after photo of my skin. It was thick, oily (not overly) and healthy and then completely atrophied just five months later. Strangely the atrophy seems to be even where I did not use the steroid (such as my temple). Is your flakiness getting better since the SPRS?
SNAPPED- I have very bad redness. I have actually been diagnosed with vascular rosacea. My skin flares and flushes. I hope we all can find a remedy. I think it needs to be quite regenerative.
