i have the same indentation as you. have you heard of dermaflage? its a silicone based make up especially made for indented scarring like ours. they just came out with the acne scarring kit. you should check it out. easy application and it will fill in the indents/

I saw your post on dermaflage, and took a look at their site. I can't use silicone based makeup. It leads to clogged pores and blackheads for me. I would like to get to a point where I don't need to wear makeup to conceal my scars. That might not be possible, but I am still trying.

If you don't mind my asking, what types of makeup do you use to conceal your scars? I cannot wear any makeup at all, it seems, because even with something like Jane Iredale mineral makeup I get little puddles (best way to describe them) of oil on my cheeks, nose, and chin within an hour. Not attractive.

I was using Japanese makeup that's only sold in Japan. I ran out a few weeks ago, and have been experimenting with American makeup. I tried bareMinerals Matte about a month ago. It irritated my skin to the point that I actually got a cystic acne bump within a week of use. I hadn't experienced one in years, and it's still healing. It also made my skin look very oily within an hour. I've since switched to Neutrogena mineral powder. I really like it so far. It doesn't really conceal my indented scars but the color looks smoother. It doesn't irritate my skin or cause it to be oily. I do miss my Japanese makeup though. I loved my Shiseido powder. Made for a warmer, humid climate, it really helped control oils in my skin, plus concealed my scars well. I've looked all over Los Angeles, and no one has even heard of the line of Shiseido here. If you find something that works for your skin, let me know. I'm open to trying something else.

I have definitely heard of Shiseido. I just didn't know that it was created specifically for a warmer, humid climate. Wow. That's pretty much where I live. Can't get much more warm and humid than Atlanta, Georgia. Have you looked online for it? If you find it online, could you let me know the name of the product you used? And I have tried several Neutrogena products. I used them when I was younger, and my skin hadn't broken out into cystic acne yet. But I stil think I would get the oil puddles from it, because I pretty much got them back in the day, too.

I used accutane in 2008 and dermarolled in 2010 as well as this year several times (5 or 6 times) and my scarring has certainly shown some improvements. I don't know why some people here feel the need to try and spread their bad attitude unto others, but I've used accutane and have used dermarolling and although my skin may not heal as quickly as it used to (prior to accutane) dermarolling has not "ruined" my skin by any means.

I HAVE made a small scar when dermarolling but that was because I dermarolled aggressively and a few days after that rolling I had an acne breakout in that area. I never try to "pick" at my skin but for that breakout I did try and empty the bacteria from the blemish and I feel that that little mistake is what messed up the healing process and formed the new little scar.

So yeah. Dermarolling CAN cause scarring if you don't treat the whole process like a professional (even though many who use it are not, including myself).. but if you DO use it properly and refrain from picking at blemishes that arise in Dermarolled areas you CAN have excellent results for cheap. Everybody will have different results based on other factors that are in play. Like what size of roller they use.. what they're applying to their skin after rolling.. the severity of their acne scars.. if they still have active acne.. and so on and so forth. The key thing to remember is that good results take time.

I have a 1mm Dermaroller. I probably should have gotten the stamp because my scars are few and far between... small, and shallow. Except one that's large, and used to be shallow. However, I dermarolled it and individually needled it, and it is now level. Of course its still there, it still needs work. Mostly the just finishing touches, I guess. I've only done it twice with a month between each roll. I haven't used any expensive chemicals or medications to help with collagen production. Just natural stuff around the house to help with the redness and swelling... milk, aloe, and cocoa butter.

I believe needling works, I mean you don't need to be a rocket scientist... or dermatologist, rather, to understand how skin reacts and heals. The whole inflammation, redness, cell turnover... thing. I mean I'm sure we've all pricked ourselves with a sewing needle, or had to get a shot at one point in our lives. It never caused scarring. So, I don't understand how anyone can claim needling can make your skin worse. It's the person who performs the needling, and how they take care of their skin afterwards.

It makes the most sense to give your skin time to heal. Patience... something I have trouble with. Oh, irony. And most importantly, don't be harsh with your skin when actually rolling or needling.
