Sorry to hear you ended up having to go on accutane. I hope its over soon for ya! I think your skin is looking great. Your scarring seems to be minimal IMO.
Thank you!
I'm sorry that I've had to go on Accutane, too. It's such a pain in the butt.
Thanks for the sweet comments, they really do help.
If you get a chance, please take a look at my scarring photo album after 3 months on Accutane.
Exciting news!
As of 11 days ago, I finished my Accutane course;
Roughly 6 months from now, I will begin to include pics of my post-Accutane acne scarring in this thread. My system will be fully healed by then, and my acne scarring will possibly be ready for consults with cosmetic dermatologists. I plan on meeting with doctors in my area to evaluate which steps I ought to take in order to reduce the appearance of my acne scarring. That is, if I don't end up having to take a second course of isotretinoin before more cosmetic work. Frustratingly, there is a 6 month "wait and see" period to know for sure if the body has accepted the drug in the desired manner, or if another course is needed.
Here is what my acne scarring looks like as of now;
Keep me in your thoughts, guys. I would love to be able to start having consults in 6 months instead of taking more Accutane.
I had 3 treatments of Fraxel which cost me $800 a piece (and that was cheap) as a prep for my HS graduation 6 years ago. My skin was under control back then. It helped a little, but I felt regretful, because the results were not as expected. Basically I had some redness for a couple of days that looked like a sunburn. I had them every 2 months. I wish I had tried CO2 laser. I even met with a prestigious plastic surgeon who said I'm a good candidate for it, but due to my young age (18) and the fact that I wanted to kick start my college journey early with summer classes I decided not to do it. Oh, and my parents didn't think it was that bad anymore... I definitely felt much better post treatment. Now I am praying to get it under control and have the CO2 done ASAP.
Cherry, congrats on your success with accutance. your skin is clear now, so happy for you.
Thank you for sharing your pic, i can clearly see how the graft looks like. I think 2-3session of Erbium laser will help to smooth out the graft and blend in the rest of your skin.
Good Luck.

Thanks so much!
I'm really excited about the idea of more procedures to reduce the appearance of my scarring. I just have to wait 6 months before I'll know if I'll need another course of Accutane.

Do you still have active acne breakouts? Your profile pic leads me to think that this is the case, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Guys ever heard of rosehip oil? I heard massaging it would plump up scars? What abt that?
I've heard of rosehip oil, but massaging with fingertips it into scars will do little to nothing to repair them.
Cherry, I wish I was at your stage right now. I want to do all of those things as well, so I will definitely be following your journey
Thanks! You're welcome to follow my Accutane thread, too;
I'll be updating it more frequently than this scarring thread these coming months by posting photos of my post-Accutane healing.
There's not a whole lot I can do for the scarring, procedure-wise, until November, 2014. Even then, the most I can begin to do is schedule consults with cosmetic dermatologists and/or facial plastic surgeons. My derm advised me to hold off on all cosmetic treatment until May, 2015.
Because of this, you might find my Accutane thread a little more interesting since there will likely be more photos and updates than this thread until the fall.
Nonetheless, I will still update this thread every once in awhile. Most likely with links of treatments I may want to pursue, or doctors in the South that I might want to contact.
Stay tuned!
Im so excited for you, we will definitely keep in touch (even though you're way ahead of me )
Unfortunately, this February or March I experienced a bad break out from changing my skin care products, and it has slowly gotten worse, so the short answer is yes, I have active acne and currently I am on tazorac, doxy and ortho (and blue light treatment at home) but in a couple of days I will inquire my derm&endocrinologist about spiro. In the meantime I am also thinking of adding some natural therapeutics to my regimen, I have a separate blog about them and I would really appreciate your opinion on them. You are such an inspiration
P.S. Rosehip oil is not good for active acne and even acne-prone skin, so beware before applying it!

Hmm. If not massaging with rose hip oil, what then shoul i do? I cant go to plastoc surgeons, I dont have enough money and i am more on natural methods. Anything else i could do? Any help out there? I am about to lose hope.
Yea rosehip oil isnt going to do shit for acne scars, the only things that will fix them occur in a doctors office. Lots of time can also help if your scars are new and still healing.
I cant see a doctor. I have no money. No job. What them will I do? Thats why i am looking for a natural method to heal my scars. I am from Philippines and dont have much idea abiut those accutane stuffs. guys, please, I di really need your help badly.

Cherry soda you are very pretty and you have nothing to worry about on your face. I love the way you look. If i could just marry you i will. hows your indented nose scar? I have one on my nose that does not seem to improve? Anything you could advice? Please dont mention tca, accutane, or any doctor prescribed stuffs. I am from Philippines and we dont have those. I am about to lose hope with this ugly indented scar.
heres the pic. Oh and anyways i am glad you are healing. Sending love, hugs and kisses.
Your skin look good Cherry soda! Seems like your right cheek has rolling scars and your left cheek has some minor pitting but your overall skin looks fantastic. Creamy milky skin...so totally jealous!!

Wow! An inspiration? I've certainly never heard that one before, but am so glad you've been able to find encouragement and motivation by reading this thread. Ultimately, the drug did not work for me, which is why I turned to Accutane. You might find reading about my experiences helpful, however.
Do you have a link to your blog?

Oh my goodness, you make me blush. How kind of you.
Actually, my left cheek is the one with rolling scars, and the right only has some minor pitting.
Thanks so much for your sweet comments. They encourage me more than you can possibly know.

What type of scarring do you have?
Which indented nose scar are you referring to on my nose?
No marriage proposals, please. I have a boyfriend. Lol.
Cherry have you ever heard of beta glucan? It is supposed to plump up your indented scars. I thought you mentioned before that you have an indentef nose scar. Did that fill in already? Hope you would share your success with us.

My nose scar is indented. I am using beta glucan which could be found on oat meal brans. Aquasea had success on treating her scars with beta glucan. I thought you mentioned before thay you had indented nose scar?

I have never heard of beta glucan. Do you have a link with info about it?
I do have a few indented scars on my nose that look more like large pores. Originally, I wanted them excised or grafted. My cosmetic derm was not comfortable performing those procedures on my nose. She explained to me that the nose heals quite differently than the cheeks, and that any surgeries performed on the nose would be too obvious once they healed. To illustrate this, she pointed out indented, scarred pores on her own nose and asked me if I'd ever noticed them before. I told her no. She replied, "Your nose is the same".
My cosmetic dermatologist was right. I have 2 or 3 scarred pores on my nose that aren't all that noticeable compared to the scarring on my cheeks. Also, the 2 Obagi peels I had did help smooth their appearance.
Also, I could not see the indented scar that you mentioned having on your nose in the pic you included. Do you have a closer/sharper photo?
Hi guys. Especially cherry. Here is the link. it was originally started by aquasea. She now has a clear skin with no acne scars. No indented scars, no burns, no keloids, just clear skin. I am believing that beta glucan would help us all. It could be found on oat meal. I just tried it, im on my 3rd day. Its doing wonders on my skin.
please read the thread everyone. It wpuld help is all
but what i did is to powderize the oat meal using our blender and added water on it.
