Hey Greg, great to see ur progress. Hopefully my problem areas will be similarly successful.

Have you got the fillers yet? How did they go? What filler you using?

Regards

Cathal

khill1968 - I got my fillers about a month ago. I got restylane. The procedure didn't really hurt. Nothing compared to subcision. I am happy with the results. My scarring isnt as noticeable as before but they are still there. Only filled in. I plan to get lazer in August. (read page one for more info on that).

My face is still recovering from the subcision. (I havent had any treatment since feb this year). It still hurts a little bit. Mainly when I wash my face or push on my face. I guess this will go over time as my face is still traumatised.

I should also add that before subcision, I use to bearly get any hair on my face. I would shave about once every fortnight. After 5 subcisions, I now have to shave every 2 days.

thisisnothollywood - i dont feel brave but i have learnt alot about myself while getting subcision. infact i have became a lot stronger person emotionally because of it. I use to worry a lot about my looks before i started. its almost been a year now and that part of me has changed. Im no longer so concerned about my looks, Im more proud of who i am and what I have achieved and im not afraid to tell people about my journey. heres a photo of what i looked like after getting subcision. i work in retail and went straight back to work looking like that (i tried to hide some of it with make up but it didnt work out that well lol). that alone makes me proud of what i have achieved.

TheMedic - interesting new photos. my face looks bad when you photoshop it lol but bear in mind, that after photo was around my 4th subcision. My 5th was the most aggressive and where i saw the most results. I will try to get a photo up when i have time.

Greg, very nice improvement! I like your agressive approach to your treatments. I have heard a lot of people who give up on themselves, but you are a shining example of the way people have to attack this problem. I have never done subcission, but I also took the agressive approach. Good luck on your continued success.

bump...hows your skin doing?

hi, sorry for my lack of responses. its been 3 months since i got my fillers in my face. i got fillers to fill in the areas that subscision did not. when i first got the fillers, i could still feel the indents where the depressed scars were. as time has gone on, those indents are now gone and it doesn't even feel like they were ever there. i hope over time they dont return and the subscision has worked (it works over time and its been about 6 months since my last subscision). Time will tell I guess.

Just over a month and I go for my face peel and co2 laser treatments. I will be taking A LOT of photos and recording everything for you guys so please do come back 🙂

(My plastic surgeon also instructed me that when I get my co2 laser, all the fillers I have in my face will also be removed so will be interesting to see how much of my face has improved since the original fillers).

It's now been 4 months since I had dermal fillers. Most of the fillers are now gone. A lot of the areas I had trouble with (my cheek which had 2 waves) has not returned as of yet. Hopefully subscision did its magic and they are gone forever.

I am getting my lazer and chemical peels early next month to address the redness, pigmentation and spots I have left on my face. I will be updating this thread very often when this occurs with alot of information including photos, costs and personal experiences etc.

I uploaded a before and after photo of what subscision has helped me with. As you can see, a lot of the uneven areas on my face has gone. All that is left is the redness and pigmentation.

I also uploaded a recent photo of myself. My skin looks very natural.

Hi guys! sorry for my lack of replies. My lazer got delayed for a few months. The machine was broken. However I just got my lazer so I will be updating this a lot! I got 20% off the fee because of the machine being broken for 4 months. Total cost was $3600. This was done in Adelaide, South Australia.

I got laser resurfacing with 3 lasers (fraxel, co2 and a herbal laser).

I posted a before photo which shows what areas I wanted to get removed. Mainly the pigmentation and marks on my face which the subscision did not remove. This photo was taken the night before I went into have my lazer done. It was before I had a shave.

Day 1:

I went in at 7am. It wasn't until 9.30am that I was knocked out and the lazer was done. I was knocked out because the procedure is very painful. I was worried I was going to die (first general anaesthetic haha) but I was fine. It went very quick. I woke up and was in a bit of pain but I was given pain killers. I was allowed to go home (I got picked up) at 11.30am.

They applied Vaseline on all my face which I was instructed to keep applying every 3 hours so my face doesn't get dry and form scabs etc. I was also told NOT to wash my face for the first 24 hours but just keep applying the vaseline. It's all pretty messy. My face is very bloody and sore but I can see an improvement especially on my forehead and cheeks.

I found it hard to sleep that night. I don't normally lay on my back while sleeping but I was forced to. I kept applying vaseline on my face through out the night. My pillow and shirt got covered in blood, gunk and vaseline. It was pretty gruesome (but perfect with halloween being next week haha)

Here is Day 1 photos. Yes I want sympathy but the pain is bearable. Subscision hurt a lot more!

Nice thread, good to see the subcision results! Confused about the lasers you said, it was 3 different ones? Fraxel, CO2 and Herbal? I have never heard of a herbal laser, perhaps you meant erbium laser? And fraxel is a CO2 laser. Did they perhaps do a fully ablative laser of certain scars and fraxel on the rest? Also, what is the actual brand names is you know, was is fraxel repair, or DOT, or Deep FX?

Good lucky on recovery, keep the pics coming, it is good to see your improvements.

Isn't Fraxel Restore an erbium laser?

Day 2 & 3:

I didn't get much sleep the first night. Vaseline was going everywhere and it was really annoying and messy. I took painkillers to stop the pain which helped me to relax.

The 2nd night was by far the worst. I did not get any sleep at all. The vaseline on my face kept melting. It felt like wax on a candle running down my face. The vaseline was going everywhere and it hurt. The vaseline would run down my face to my chin where it would go hard and form lumps. This kinda freaked me out and I got up a few times during the night to watch my face and reapply the vaseline.

My face on the 3rd day is quite hard. It feels like leather. I have pussie white spots underneath my mouth which could be a cold sore. I'm not sure. I'm just covering it with vaseline and hoping it goes away. It feels like bugs are eating underneath my skin. I am kinda regreting getting this procedure done now but I'm sure once its over I wont regret it.

What exactly did you get done again?

Also, it looks like you got some sort of laser treatment. I hope you are on Valtrex. When you get full face laser done, you must be on Valtrex, otherwise you can get a nasty herpes outbreak all over your face that will leave scars. Call your doctor let them know ASAP, especially since you suspect a cold sore(which is a form of herpes).

Hey chap things are more than likely going to end up great for you. Good job for getting that done. It looks painful! ouch. Make sure you are taking in excellent nutriion .. You should take in fruits, veggies, vitamin c etc. IT will play a HUUUUGE role in recovery. Have a peaceful recovery.

As SanJoseSkin mentioned, contact your doctor ASAP about the cold sores. I think I can see them in your picture. I took Valtrex starting one day before my laser treatment to prevent cold sores. Did your doctor prescribe Valtrex to prevent this from happening?

Day 4,5,6 & 7:

These days are a blur. They were really that bad. I got an reaction to the vaseline and had to rush back to my doctor who told me to stop using vaseline and use paw paw cream instead. This was by far one of the worst experiences of my life. Imagine HOT vaseline melting down your face and forming massive lumps on your skin. It is still day 7 and I am still oozing a little bit. The ooze smells very bad (think of dead burnt skin).

I was also unable to see for most of these days due to my tear-ducts in my eyes being affected (this is normal apparently). It is still hard to see now but its getting easier.

I bearly got any sleep and the only drugs I got were panadine fort which didn't really do anything. I ended up just taking panadol rapid which worked better.

I did not receive any drugs for my cold sores. In the photo it looked like cold sores were forming (and they did) but as soon as I stopped using the vaseline they went almost straight away.

Day 6 I started to flake and my doctor stopped me from using the paw paw cream to a day and night moisturiser. Paw paw cream also forms a lot of pimple break outs. I have quite a few of them on my face and my arms but this is normal and they will go in time. I also have a rush on my arm which I don't know what its caused from but I'm keeping an close eye on it.

The photos I uploaded are from Day 6 and Day 7. Day 6 is before I had to shave so it looks better. Shaving was hard but I had to because my hair on my face was getting too long.

My face isnt really swollen now but it does still have some ooze which i have to force off (I hate it!!!).

As for improvements, as of Day 7, 95% improvement. Of course I'm not expecting this to be that high when my skin goes back to normal but we will have to wait and see.
