Sorry for the different type of post this time, but I honestly do not understand why the negativity and pessimism of many people on here.
If you dont believe something can be done then why do you even bother about reading a forum?
If you are surrounded by negative energy in your life I doubt you will ever get results for yourself.
If you feel frustrated do not try to spread it onto others, who fortunately havent had the same experience than yourself.
People should make judgements based in facts and thorough knowledge, those who has called me lier or those who are so skeptical about my results or the professionalism of my derm and jump to conclusions without having been there or experienced by themselves it should reconsider visiting this forum.
Sorry for the above, but honestly... this thread is to share hope and results... to tell my personal story. I have had the bravery to tell it all and to even post my pictures and I think it is very disapointing to see some type of comments. Make me wonder why I bother, but specially why they bother coming on here in the first place?
Hi Ernestoria
Thanks for getting back to me and telling me about your skin graft. I would have liked to have left the skin graft dressing on for longer too but I was going back to work the next day so had to take it off. It's now healed ok. It's still quite pink but I think it's slowly fading.
Glad to hear you're happy with your progress so far. It will be interesting to find out how the stem cell treatment improves things further as well. I considered having the stem cells but would have had to wait longer to save the extra money needed.
I've still got the areas of hypopigmentation as I expected. I think they're getting pigmentation but it's a slow process so I can't tell. When you look at yourself in the mirror every day I think it's sometimes hard to notice changes which are happening gradually.

H Mickey99,
I couldnt agree more about Dr. Khan. An intelligent and very experienced man who really cares about his patients.
Answering your questions, YES. the area on my neck which you can see in my pics is the place where he took the skin sample for the ReCell. The bandage didnt come off easily, in fact I was a bit worried about taking it off so I left it for days. I think it was in the 7th or 8th day when it finally came off by itself. It was very pinky and still is a bit, but that is expected as it was effectively a deeper cut, but it is healing quite quickly and no pigmentation.
Take it easy... you will get good results in the long term. I went to see Dr Khan last week and I am going to do Stem Cells. I want to take my skin as close to perfection as possible. This is a journey and we are just right at the beginning of it!
Let's keep in touch!
Ernestoria
Hi
I've also recently had both Fraxel Repair and Recell done by Dr Khan though I had them done 17 days apart.
I originally had some patches of my face treated with a CO2 ablative laser 5 years ago but that only partially helped with the scarring and also left the treated areas hypopigmented. My scarring was originally quite minor (though it bothered me) so I was quite upset that I got new scars (hypopigmentation) by trying to treat old ones. I saw the doctor who carried out the treatment a few times over the next few years and he said he thought the pale areas would darken naturally but they didn't.
Last year I found out about Dr Khan through reading this website and decided to see him. He recommended trying either Fraxel or stem cell treatments to eliminate the scarring and also using Recell to get the pigmentation back into my face. I chose the Fraxel as it's cheaper than the stem cells. He said the Fraxel may help with the hypopigmentation but using the Recell as well will hopefully fully restore the colour.
I had the Fraxel done on January 2nd. I was surprised at how painful it was but it seems to have helped alot with the scarring but I'll not know the full results for a few months yet.
I was due to have the Recell done 11 days later in Birmingham (Dr Khan also treats people there as well as in London) but there was alot of snow on the roads so Dr Khan had to cancel. Instead I had it done last Tuesday in London.
First of all he took a sample of my skin from just under my ear. We then had to wait about 15 minutes or so while the trypsin broke it down. When he started to treat my face he first needled the hypopigmented areas of my face and then injected the cells into those areas. Afterwards he also sprayed the cells onto the surface of the areas before bandaging me up.
I've now taken the bandages off after the Recell. My face looks a little tanned all over so this must be due to the Fraxel (it can't be due to the Recell as there's a clear tan line under my chin where he stopped the Fraxel). The hypopigmented areas are still pale but I was expecting this. Maybe they're starting to get some pigment but I can't be sure yet. Over the next few months I hope to see the areas slowly get pigmentation and end up the same colour as the surrounding skin.
My one concern is the area where Dr Khan did the skin graft for the Recell. He explained that he would cut an area of skin about the size of a stamp, peel it open, scrape away some of the skin from the underside and then place the top layer of skin back down. When I took the bandage off it today it didn't come away very easily and bled. The bandage is a bit messy but it looks to me like the skin stuck to the bandage and has come away with it. I now have a stamp sized area of red raw skin underneath my ear. I'm worried that this is going to leave a new scar.
Ernestoria - in one of your photos I can see a pink area on the side of your neck where I assume your skin sample was taken from. Did your bandage come away easily? Did it bleed? How red was the area when you took the bandage off? BTW your photos look very good and you're very kind and helpful to have put them up. Unfortunately I don't have any photos.
In summary I'm very happy so far but it's far too early to tell the full results. Dr Khan is a very nice and intelligent guy and I'd recommend him to anyone considering treatment.
I have had 1 subcision and 1 dermabrasion (still healing from)
From the subcision results were odd mix:
First was swollen so looked better...then had a new scar (linear one) left by and a little bit of a nodule....this went away drastically between 4 -6 months out...slow improvement over time. Skin always looks better right away...then worse...then worse then it did...then slowly gets better...
That seems to be the way. As my dermabrasion I'm 3 months out so I'm in between the worst stages. Try and keep your heads up guys.
For the guy that has had 18K worth of it done... At least you didn't have to pay for it right?
Does suck to get worse results over all the pain.
Personally, I don't believe in lasers...and would rather a laser never touch my skin.
I would avoid lasers but that is just me.
Dermarolling seems to help some so some of you should look into that.
I think subcision, skin grafting, chemical peels, microdermabrasion and things of that nature are the safer methods.
Good luck to all and congrats to you ernestoria for getting such great results. Keep your head up.
As it looks like I will be having something similar with the same doctor I have been doing some research on each of the different aspects. For recell these before&after pics look amazing.

Two Months On : Micro-Swelling Gone
As promised, photos taken yesterday, basically two months after the procedure!
As you can see and I mentioned in an earlier post, the micro-swelling is gone and the results diminished to about 50%-55%. I am still very pleased and the pictures, taken in the same angle and lighting conditions show the results. As you can see, the skin is no longer 100% smooth, but I am still very pleased. I am looking now into having a second procedure done in the next 2 weeks with Dr. Khan. He has recommended that Stem Cells and Dermarolling together will take us to a significant improvement. Still deciding if I am going to go ahead or not.
In the meantime, enjoy the pics.
A skin close up:
And this last one I took with my phone about two hours ago when I was buying some groceries before coming home

Wow, these are the best results I have ever seen . I really think that the results are better than 50%, though you can still see the scars they are a lot softer some are pretty hard to notice.
I think you should go at it again with the same procedure I really thiink the Re-Cell had a big part in you results. Also, from what has been said on the stem cell thread it seems that the results from stem cell injections or temporary even though it is for around 3 years and rather expensive.
Regarding your pics why not delete the pictures from mid-recovery? Just keep the befores and the afters for now adding new one later.
How is the redness now? Are you applying anyhting to conceal it or has is completely gone?
Even minus the swelling, that's still a pretty good difference. Are you planing on doing anything else, or just let it go for a while?
I am already in conversation with Dr Khan to do something else in the next two-four weeks.
I am thinking of a 2nd round of Subcision, Stem Cells and Dermarolling
I will keep you all informed when I decide what to do next

Redness has almost gone but I can still see a bit of it, but I am still using the sunscreen which has a slight tint and also tiny bit of foundation. I am helping myself also by using a deep penetrating light machine that icaretohelp recommended me to use for redness and blemishes (and even wrinkles! lol)
Hey Ernestoria, that's some good improvement. It's a steady race not a full sprint. Obviously there's more work to be done to reach your full goal of scar eradication, please do keep us informed with what you plan to do.
BTW, are you gonna keep this thread or start a new one?
