This to me is bad news, i thought you could get another dermabrasion 6 months after your last, I'm getting my first full face dermabrasion in April, and i was hoping i could get another one in November!!! AAARGH! i could cry, i really dont want to have to wait 1 whole bloody year! plus by that time Dr Y will probably be retired!  GOD DAMN IT!  eusa_wall.gif  eusa_wall.gif

so shade the punch floats are a good idea?

also you had the floats done on icepicks and boxcars?

how are they looking after dermabrasion?

Also does anyone know near where is dr.y's office located?

i am searching for hotels on expedia and they are classified by:

central business district/french quarter/new orleans airport

i'll be there for the dermabrasion most likely on the beginning of april, anyone going to be there??

Are punch floats possible without doing dermabrasion? I have 2 scars that I am contemplating punch float or Bio-Alcamid, but i don't want or need dermabrasion.

mrstupor they certainly are but its not always easy to get it just right. Scars can be floated to the level of surrounding skin but they may shrink or subside a little which is hard to predict which means doing the procedure over again.

Some docs float the scar way above surrounding skin to compensate for this but the downside is you then have to flatten the punch site down with abrasion, laser or shaveing it which means if your not careful you could end up flattening it too much and your back where you started from.

So just above the surrounding skin is the best?

This happened with one of my punches, and after my dermabrasion it looks like now i have a slight hypertrophic scar instead of a deep pitted scar.  I like this instead biggrin.gif

For those of you who have had the punch floats, are you more or less trading a crater type scar for a flat semi circle shaped scar? and if thats the case the semi circle shape will be lighter in colour to the rest of your face, as all scars are. am i correct? i wish i knew what the punch tool was like, as it would give me a better idea as to what a punch float is. Hmmm...... cos i have a 4 small line shaped white scars that are each about 4cm in length and i absloutly detest them, they are slightly indented thats the main reason for me getting my dermabrasion, although i dont know if these scars would benefit from being floated aswell, as the main issue with these scars are the hypopigmenation, and even though they are small, to me they are VERY noticeable. But i dont think trading them for a semi circle scar is worth it either.

God i hate this scar revision crap! eusa_wall.gifeusa_wall.gif

do noy be alarmed with the raised scar post dermabrasion. one of mine was raised but has gone down to the surface. It took 5 weeks before i realized it was not a problem anymore. so be careful of feeling this is the end result.

Thanks for that Yellowkid, i thought knowing what one looked like may give me a better idea of the actual procedure, and type of scar that you would be left with. But i can't say it does.

Also i see that the tool is round in shape, so why are you left with a semi circle shaped scar instead of a round scar? thats the part i dont really understand.....

I'm pretty odd I guess, but I didn't want to see what the punch tools looked like nor did I want to see the dermabrasion rotating brush or machine. I've had 21 punch floats and full face dermabrasion and I couldn't tell you what any of the equipment looks like. I'd just rather not know and pretend they are small little instruments that will do me no harm. lol

I posted about punches in another thread. This should give you a basic idea about how they can be used.

Just do a Yahoo map for the location from the main www.yahoo.com website:

2820 NAPOLEON AVENUE

NEW ORLEANS, LA 70115

LOL Portlandboy, I remember just about interviewing Dr. Y before my dermabrasion. I wanted to see all the equipment, what kind of anesthesia used, etc. I have a scientific background and as a result am quite curious too.

Even with my recent subcisions from another doctor, I asked to see if he used a nokor needle or if the instrument was a very minute blade. I already had the nokor with questionable results from another derm and was happy to see the blade in my recent subcisions. The blade worked out better for me.

Good luck all of you recent dermabrasion recipients with your recovery and heeling. Hang in there it gets better and better with a little time eusa_dance.gif

Rigel, Do you live in the NO area? I thought that you might since you had a dermabrasion many years ago. If so, did a local NO doctor do you subsicion? I am scheduled for subsicion and cool touch and my only worry is that it will do more harm than good. I have ice pick scarring, and large pores. A few of the ice picks are joined, and this is what the subsicion will be used for. I may also have one punch float. I guess I may need a partial dermabrasion after all of this but I really do not want to go through all of that again.
