Hi Portlandboy,

I will have my consultation and punch floats on Nov 23 too! I had my appointment for the 22nd, but I moved it up a day.

My appointment is at 11:00. I am so nervous. My face is a mess, I just hope he can fix it up a bit.

My dermabrasion is scheduled for Dec 13th, but since I am taking the month off, I'll probably stay in a hotel until my skin starts to heal. That means you might get there just in time to see my early results.

I am worried, because I am still not 100% clear, but I want to get something done about these scars now. How about you?

It is so cool that someone will be there at the same time. I think Drewboy will be around too ninja.gifninja.gifninja.gif

Let's have a party!

Morris - About the vaseline running down your neck - I always get a hand/dish towel and put it around my neck like a bib, securing it in the back with a rubber band. You may have already thought of this or something similar, but I thought I'd mention it just in case... makes the ordeal a little less messy. Are you going to wear the mask while you drive? Good luck healing and have a safe trip home.

Tuesday was the 12-week mark for my second derm. with Dr. Y. I'm still pink, but I think I'm probably the exception. The best green concealer I have found is MAC's (it's in a squeeze tube). It gives good coverage and has a nice consistency. There's a noticeable improvement between derms 1 and 2 and I'm very pleased. Dermabrasion (with Dr. Yarborough) is the best procedure I've ever had done - it's basically the only thing that has worked. If I can answer questions for anyone (or if you just need some reassurance), feel free to PM me :-)

Good luck guys,

Waite

Hi Waite! Thanks for reporting back--I'm so glad to hear from you again! You were the very first one on this board to mention Dr. Y and to document your success with him--if it weren't for those early posts of yours and your very detailed responses to my pms, I may not ever have discovered Dr. Y. So, Thank you so much for that. As you can see, I am so happy with my results from him and I am now considering whether I want to go back for a second procedure with him next summer.

I'm also so happy to hear that your second dermabrasion went as well as your first. Do you feel like you got as much improvement from the 2nd as from the first (I would assume "no" because you would have had less damage to improve, but I may as well ask). Also, did you have another full face? Do you think you'll have another, or are you satisfied with your results?

Anyway, mosty I just wanted to say "hi" and to thank you again from bringing this great man and his work to my attention.

what scars are often not improved by dermabrasion?

that may need a second dermabrasion??

i'm hopin floats and derma may get rid of most pitted scarring, i'm guessing that with proper prepration floats or/and excision and derma scars would be improved greately

does anyone know if scarring can result in skin that is not scarred from dermabrasion?

Dr. Y and Cassandra did 8 punch floats on me today: 3 on my left cheek and 5 on my right cheek. I am dying from wanting to scratch them because sometime I feel it itching. Arg...ARg...ARG!!!! On March 28, 2005 I will be back for a full face demabrasion. I don't want to miss my snowboarding season this winter. Dr. Y told me that it wouldn't be a problem to schedule my appointment so late. I will have to walk around with punch floats scars for a while.

I met several board members today at Dr Y office. It is very nice meeting you guy and girls. Good healing!!!

Portlandboy23,

Since the dermabrasion my beard has grown about 1mm.

Normaly it takes me about one month to grow about one inch of hair/beard.

I thought of not shaving for about four months, so I can blend the

skin around the neck.

Yes, he did dermabrade just where the neck begins, so people cannot

notice the difference in tone.

Today is day four. I came home and took a shower. Cleaned my

face with Colgate shaving form and apply Vaseline.

Waite,

Thanks for the infor. Cassandra gave me some type of cloth to put around my

neck. I wore the mask only when I went outside to put gas.

I think I will never drive again. It took me 19 hours.

Next time I will take a flight home, only 2hours. Who cares if people stare at you.

How is your healing going? My skin is very pink and red.

Hi Morris,

Congrats..

What a trooper! Driving yourself back after a dermabrasion?!!

I'm so concerned about ingrown hairs and shaving and all that since I tend to be prone to ingrown hairs anyway. If you don't mind, can I ask how uncomfortable is the beard area? How often do you normally shave (once a day? twice? every 2 days?) I'm just trying to get an idea on how fast your hair grows. Did he go beyond the side of your face just near where the neck begins? I'd so appreciate if you keep me informed as to how this hair growth thing goes, not many guys have had this done so I'm very curious.

I go for punch floats on 11/23 (morning)... If anyone is getting a dermabrasion on this day and needs a ride from his office to your hotel I'd be happy to provide that.

Anyone gonna be around that day?

I go for full-face dermabrasion on Dec. 20

It's all so close now!

Has anyone actually posted some convincing dermabrasion before and after pictures on this thread? If so, on what page? Things are hard to find with this page numbering scheme.

Thanks.

Morris, Glad to hear that you've arrived home. How you manage to do it? Do you drive at night only? Or at day time with a lot of sunscreen. Thank you.

I started at noon Thursday from LA and drove till 1AM non stop except for refueling.

Slept inside the car for about two hours and continue till I reached MN.

I did not put any sunscreen because, I had Vaseline on my face.

It was cloudy and raining when I left LA.

Cassandra is the best nurse I've had evere met in my life. She is kind and caring.

Poe,

When did you stoped applying Vaseline? Sixth day after dermabrasion?

Let me know if you have any questions.

Portlandboy,

Yes, I have a dermabrasion scheduled for Dec. 13th.

I too am afraid I will break out, in fact I am not even perfectly clear now.

Hopefully, Dr. Y will know what I should do about it. And, hopefully he will do about 7 punchs, and I'll come back on Dec. 13th to have the rest done.

I just wish the acne would stop completely so I could feel confident that my skin would get better with time and treatments.

Right now I am using a 10%bp with glycolic acid. Also, I have been taking B5. I wash my face with dove soap, and I drink a lot of water. But, I still have acne.

I'll have to see what he thinks my best options are.

I have everything done except hotel reservations. I am not sure which hotels are nearby. I'll be arriving on Nov. 22nd. in the afternoon, and my appointment is for 11:00 on Nov 23rd.

I hope we can get together. I am very shy because of my face ninja.gif , and I have a hard time looking at people and feeling comfortable redface.gif . But, I'd really like to talk to someone who can relate. lol.gif

Oops, I forgot to mention that Animegirle, you are beautiful.

I am scarred and even without the scars I am not pretty.

I hope you are getting excellent results.

I believe I'll need about 7 "punchs" and a dermabrasion. I can't really describe my scars because it kind of depends on the lighting, but under overhead florescents, I look grotesque to say the least. Oh well, I'll have to see what Dr. Y says!

I love this site and everyone, you have helped me so much!

All,

I would love to hear from anyone who had Dr. Y perform dermabrasion and/or punch grafts on their nose. I love to know how things turned out.

Anxiously awaiting to hear of your experiences.

Eddy.

PS I would be interested in getting Dr. Y Telephone number and address.

Eddy,

I had puch float on my nose with Dr.Yaborough.

It did not work out good because my nose was so oily the tapes fell off before the skin had a chance to heal.

I'm looking into Punch grafts in about five months time.

Nose is very hard to treat.

I don't think dermabrading the nose once will cure the

problem. It may take three or four dermabrasions.

Also it depends on the type of scar. Ice pick will be impossible without a punch meathod.

His phone #: (504) 897-5899

Morris,

Thanks for the info..........

Are you planning on having your punch grafts done by Dr. Y?

I had 2 punch grafts done on my nose. One healed amazingly........the other still bothers me allot. I keep trying to find something and someone that could help me.

Eddy.
