Sadcaroline,
The airfare was book through www.cheapticket.com. The flight leave from La Guardia on Nov 10 at 7:30 am. The return flight leave New Orleans on Nov 11 at 5:40 pm.
animegirle,
I did mention to Tom at the Clarion. Tom doesn't seem to know what I am talking about. The only discount he did mentioned was the 10% AAA discount. He mumbled something about November be high season. Since I am staying only one night, I could just bite the bullet and take the room for $199.
NYC to New Orleans is gonna have good rates... From Portland, Maine to New Orleans is like $330 (yikes~)
But when you're spending $4500 on a dermabrasion and 1000 or so on punch floats... whats another $100 or so right?
It's amazing that I'm gonna part with this much money and not even think twice about it. I get all worked up to save $0.30 on mac and cheese with coupons at the grocery store. hahah
portlandboy23,
Are Maine winter worst compare to Vermont winter? I usually head for Vermont to snowboard 3 to 4 times in the winter. Do you remember the big blizzard that dumped 3 feet of snow and crippled Boston? I just happened to be in Vermont that weekend before the snow started to dump. There weren't many skier and snowboard on the slope. Most of them were Vermonter. I had powder for 3 days. When I got home the following weekend, I discovered that my face got wind burned.

Does anyone know if Dr. Yarborough will perform dermabrasion on the neck or under the chin? Has anybody brought this up during consultation? This location is where most of my scars are. I recently e-mailed some pictures of my scarring to a local cosmetic surgeon here in MN, and I just received a response saying that they will not perform dermabrasion on that region of the skin. It makes sense, I guess, that this area would be more difficult to work with since the skin is not as tight and there are more contours. Can anyone think of any other reason why it couldn't be performed there. The skin in this region seems the same as other parts of my face (except for the scarring). I am so scared now that there will be no good solution for me. I will be sending photos to Dr. Y. as soon as I get them printed, but was hoping perhaps somebody here has asked him about this already. Thanks.
I am planning to send Dr. Y. some pics. I hope I can get dermabrasion. I feel that this is the only thing that will yield results. I am a little darker than Poe (I am hispanic) so I am not sure if my skin color will be an issue.
I went to a Dr. in Beverly Hills but he said that there would be a chance of hyperpigmentation. He said he would do it if my face was full of scars, but since it is not he would not do it. But, he tried to convince me to get V-Beam at $500 a pop. Hey, a easier way for him to make money without %#&*$ up my face. NO THANK YOU!
Even though I have not met Dr. Y., I am fully confident in his work and I can't wait to get it done. I am planning to have it done in February.
Hotels: I get the sense most of the hotels you guys are looking at are in the Garden District on St. Charles. One place you might try is the the Pontchartrain Hotel, which is an older joint but still very nice. They often have deals, although it is true that once you get out of the summer months (when the weather is so awful), the prices start going up. http://www.pontchartrainhotel.com is the website
Concerning pigmentation problems, Cassandra said dermabrasion works best on the very fair and the very dark - the olive skin tones are the ones more likely to hyperpigment. But she also said that is treatable.
If you're considering punch floats, the scar must be at least 1 mm.
And about the hotel rooms: maybe you don't get the discounted price when you're just there for the consultation (staying one day) b/c technically you are not yet a patient of Dr. Y's? But if you're staying just one day for punch floats you should qualify. I would check again b/c there's a good chance that the person answering the phone at the Clarion just doesn't know about the arrangement for Dr. Y's patients. When I went for my consultation last summer I stayed at the Quality Inn on St. Charles. The staff was nice and they provide free valet - some places charge for parking. There's also a LaMadeleine attached.

Anime: 2 nights, 122.40 (United States Dollar) NOT including taxes of: 13.00% and a tax of: 1.00 PER ROOM PER DAY Occupancy Tax. It came to $152.32. I booked it through their website (choicehotels.com) and got a 10% off internet rate. This was at the end of July '03 and they were basically the only place I found that didn't charge for parking.
*It's #9 on Love's post
Emma: I took it to mean width. I have some very small icepicks on my cheeks that don't really bother me but I hadn't heard about punch floats and Dr. Y had never mentioned them so I was curious and asked. The scar must be at least 1 mm b/c that's the smallest punch tool he uses. He said I would just have to depend on the dermabrasion to smooth them out. It's still too early for me to tell if there has been any impact on their appearance.
The area I need treated is immediately below my jaw line.
John,
When you say "immediately below," define that in a measurement please (centimeters, inches, etc.). Or, possibly consider posting a photo.
All I can tell you is that Dr.Y dermabraded 3/4" of an inch below the edge of my jawbone. If you measure that distance on your face, and it does not cover the area which is of concern to you, then I doubt Dr.Y will dermbrade further than that, as it would be encumbering on very delicate tissue unsuitable for dermabrasion. Hence, TCA.
