I read many pages on the net and I found that 540 roller is not good for acne scars because not penetrate the skin since of high density of the needles. I made an experiment: I roll with 540 DTS roller without Lidocaine on a small area and surprise it's painless, the needle doesn't penetrate enough. I have another roller 0.3 mm Medik8 roller and it's burn a little when I roll. I will buy another roller with 192 pins.
Virtosity some website say 540 needle it's not good because "fakir effect" others say it's good, in my head it's total mess I don't know who to believe. Today I roll with 540 roller and i PUSH hard until I see blood like in youtube's video of clinical dermarolling. I roll 10 times in four directions to make many holes in the scars. Others say don't push hard (maximum 500-700 g) but first time i roll gently and after 2 months no change. In one site I found this:
In general, deeper needle penetrations into the dermis produces better collagen and elastin production. (However, it is also more risky. ) The breaking of blood vessels appears to be key in kick-starting the 12-month healing and reorganizing phase. Anecdotal evidence supports this as some people have reported that treated areas that bled and scabbed led to better results than ones that didnt. With very short needle lengths, the needle only reaches the topmost layerthere may be improvements, but no dramatic results.
My dermaroller is DTS roller Korea but is not titanium like yours just steel.
One thing I can't understand is the absence of pain in the dermarolling process, I push hard, enough blood on the face but not pain, DTS manufacturer say the needle is "diamond shape" and 0.2 mm in diameter. 0.2 mm it's minimum if the needle is too short the skin is not injure enough, if the needle is over 0.3 mm diameter scarring may occur.
Don't forget to stretch the skin !!!
It seem OK to me.
On the other hand one post of Des Fernandes in one forum:
Hi, my name is Des Fernandes and I feel I should answer your question because I have the experience of needling since 1997. The scars, once they are improved do not regress in my experience. Each time I needle, the scars get better. Disappointing results may come from being inadequately treated. When I demonstrate in various places around the world, people are surprised by the vigorous needling that is required to get a good result in acne. This is not something that can be casually done by a tattoo artist using the standard tattooing technique. That is why it was necessary to design a special tool like the Roll-Cit to get the depth of penetration without destroying the surface of the skin. One also needs total anaesthesia of the skin - you can't do it without local anaesthesia! Topical anaesthesia is not much use! Another important point which people neglect because they think I am promoting Environ skin care: it is absolutely essential to use adequate doses of topical vitamin A and C. Those vitamins are essential for the formation of new collagen and will help in modifying existing scars. If you are doing needling treatment then make sure you are using topical vitamin A and C in adequate to high doses. I don't have important acne scars but I have done it on myself to thicken and tighten skin so I know exactly what one goes through when the skin is needled. It is not terrible and at most is as uncomfortable as a sun-burn. I was swollen and bruised for about 7 days but I did it harder on myself than I have done on patients. It took about three months before I really started to notice tightening (in the beginning don't be fooled into thinking that the smootheness that you see is the result: that is swelling of the skin. When the skin returns to normal, more residual scars become visible but they are always less than before. I am not sure when it is best to repeat needling. I did it on myself after 10 days and there were no adverse effects. Maybe I'll get more tightening than if I had waited for a few months. I cannot be sure. Some of my mature patients have repeated the procedure and told me that they not only got less noticeable scars but also looked younger. One thing for certain - needling will not make scars vanish totally. Another certainty is that you will never have worse scars. They are always better. I wish everyone the best skin they can get! Des
Hello, Ive started derma rolling about 4 weeks ago. I feel there is some improvement, but it is too early to tell.
I plan on moving to 1.5mm roller soon, Many people seem to differentiate from the frequency of rolling. Several people and a youtube series ([removed]) showed great results rolling once a week, which is what I plan. I have noticed that people say 540 needles may not be beneficial to the skin, which amount of needles is and can anyone link me to a good value/quality roller?
After rolling I usually apply a Vitamin C moisturizer. Recently I have bought Aloe Vera and tried that as well. I see that people also use Vitamin E capsules as well after rolling, I bought at Rite Aide a bottle of Vitamin E liquid, will these be just as beneficial?
One last question, I notice many people still use Retin-A. Do they apply this right after rolling, or do you wait a few hours to do so?
Retin A = Vitamin A so it's ok for dermarolling but you must stop using it 2-3 days (it's depend on each person, some need a week rest) before and after dermarolling because it's make your face very irritated and this is bad. If you use 0.2-0.3 mm dermaroller for increase absortion put on your face in very small amount after 30 minutes (the channel in the skin will close in 1 hour). There are not one studies in which Retin A (Tretinoin) reduce acne scars but it's vitamin A, a very active form and it's supposed to help to rebuild collagen.
I think owndoc has a good offer in dermaroller's they are not greedy like others, read on they forum and you'll understand.
Hi, I'm thinking about starting dermarolling, but I just have one question: I like to go out drinking with my friends at least once a week, would this be very counter-beneficial towards removing my scars?
Thanks!
Nick I don't believe drinking will be harmful to you especially if its only once a week. I wouldn't recommend rolling the day after you go out drinking, my skin does not look as healthy as it usually does when im hungover. Also, drink plenty of water everyday!
.
Im looking to getting the derma roller and i have a few quesitons.
1. I have light indented scarring on some parts of my face. What size should I use? the 1.5 or 1.0? And how often should I use them?
2. Can I do the treatment when I still have Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation?
Thanks
Are there any recorded results of adverse effects from dermarolling? I am planning on controlling as many variables as possible to stimulate the collagen growth afterwards (diet, supplements, sleep, LED lights, little to no drinking). It just seems like my skin heals poorly and I am afraid to do anything at this point.
Can I just ask a question. Alot of people on here are saying you can use Retin A and a dermaroller at the same time. The plastic surgeons on the NHS say u must be off retin A for at least a year before you use any acne scar treatments like laser, chemical peel and i presume needling aswell. I think cause the skin is more sensitive and could be more prone to scarring after being on it. Who has been advised its ok to use the two combined? Was it a plastic surgeon or dermatologist?
It's about Roacutane (Isotretinoin) not Retin A (tretinoin), there are 2 drugs with similar name but different mecanism of action. Retin A must be stopped before the procedure because of the irritation that can occur. Topical Retin A doesn't accumulate in the body, isotretinon yes. This is why you can't procreate 1 year after isotretinoin treatment.
I use Retin A + dermaroller, I stop Retin A 1-2 days before procedure and I resume 1 week after. If your skin is very sensitive stop Retin A 2-3 weeks.
