If this really worked for real pitted acne scars, that would be awesome, but please show some proof first.
Exactly!
I'd rather not go through all the ups and downs of thinking some product is going to change my life when there isn't any PHOTOGRAPHIC proof to back it up.
And even when there is photographic proof you still have to realize all the factors that vary from person to person like lighting, picture quality, angle, skin type, scar type, age, severity of scar/acne/ red mark, skin tone, potency, time used, other products used at same time, annnnnnnnnnnnnd so on.
Sorry for all my posts, i am still interested in trying turmeric root and i don't mean to bring anyone down with my negative opinion. But i (and many others) would like to have some verification of its effectiveness before adding yet another product to my regimen.
Wish everyone the best!

yeah dude i wish there was some photographic evidence. I've gotten desperate enough to try it regardless though. i'll be posting pictures in a few weeks for you guys. i took pictures dec 16 and today (day 5 of turmeric) and will take more in a week or two to document mid-progress. i sincerely doubt my skin changed within the period between dec 16 and jan 5.
I'll also side with Kaori on this one.
I don't think many understand her point.
We acknowledge Turmeric works for acne and red marks.
Not so for real atrophic acne scars.
Red marks are not real scars, many people confuse both of them.

I'm not trying to discourage people from trying this, I'd just rather not waste my time doing something I know won't work for what I need, I'd rather try something else.
I think you are correct in that many people are confused as to what constitutes a scar, and what the difference is between them. I also think that english is not op's first language, ad things are lost in translation.
What I found so irritating was the 'give up, it can't be fixed' attitude of the naysayers. Great, assume it doesn't work, don't try it - but is it really necessary to insult the intelligence of all the people posting in this thread? Assume that they are all confused about scarring with relation to anything other than hyperpigmentation?
That's a big leap - and to assume that it can't help because there are no photos? Well that's just silly.
If the language in the studies I posted is understood, then it is clear that the studies conducted found conclusive evidence that curcumin (the most active relative component in turmeric) can halt, and to some extent repair the formation of a scar. Most especially hyperpigmentation, but also keloidal and atrophied tissues.
I don't think anyone said something like 'give up, it can't be fixed'.
Most of us come here to find something we can use to treat our pitted scars. We just don't want to waste our time on something that will most likely not work for what we need it.
Reading the study you posted it seems this might help more with fresh lesions and help prevent scars. There's no mention of atrophic scars in the study either.
Anyway, anyone who has successfully used Turmeric to treat pitted scars 'say aye'.

Awesome!
I hope it works out for you.
I'll try not to bother you every second asking you what your skin looks like, haha.
I've been using turmeric powder/water (sometimes a little lemon added) and Apple cider vinager for about 1 week now. Usualy 1 treatment of apple cider vinager in the morning, which i leave on for maybe 20-25 minutes, then i apply a skin lotion. In the evenings i apply the turmeric. I also apply Scotch tape to my face to remove dead skin cells + the usual washing with soap / skin tonic.
I'm already seeing improvments when it comes to overall skin tone, it's more even + the scaring doesnt stand out as much as before (less red), maybe a 8-10% improvement.. I look healthier than before, i use it (sparesly) under my eyes too which seems to have whitened the skin there.
I'm definetely going to continue using this I wish i could get hold of some fresh turmeric root, but they don't have that in the stores here, only powder.

As my post stated, it was seemingly the attitude of the naysayers, not a direct statement.
Again, as my post stated, if you understand the language of the studies, you will see they indeed refer to healing process of both keloidal and/or raised scars, atrophied scarring and hyperpigmentation.
curcumin treatment in high doses (>25 muM) may provide a novel way to modulate pathological scar formation through the induction of fibroblast apoptosis, while antioxidants, HO-activity and its effector molecules act as a possible fine-tuning regulator.
Fibroblasts play an important role in reparative and inflammatory processes by synthesizing extracellular matrix components and releasing growth factors and cytokines.
The growth factors and cytokines released are what causes the scar formations to diminish. This is the same process induced by lasers, peels, needling, etc.
I'm not saying it WILL work for anyone, only that studies indicate it MAY.
It's 2 or 3 dollars, and 15 min. a night of your time. It causes no negative effects (unless you include staining and/or inherently allergic responses). I'm confused as to why there is SO much opposition.
If you think it's snake oil, fine. Don't touch it with a ten foot pole, but for a lot of people here this an opportunity to try a non-invasive, safe and cheap potential remedy.
Most of all, the OP posted this with a light heart, happy to have found a cure - eager to help the rest of us. I'd be a bit crushed if I were him.
well today i tried an experiment with turmeric i combined turmeric powder with water and tea tree oil to make an acne fighting salve it seems to be working but i will update and see what happens.

This stuff makes my skin complexion incredible and I've only used it 3 times before, BUT, I can't get the yellow stain off! It's horrible, is my powder extra potent or something? Nobody else seems to have any trouble with it.
I REALLY want to keep using this, but I just can't risk it again because it took a very long time to get all the yellow off last time (like 3-4 days!)
Any suggestions? I heard that apple cider vinegar works, can anyone confirm this?
Thanks ayla - that's exactly what I had on my mind. Your skin can only get better from using it so why not? Even if it doesn't work for you, barely any money is lost.
To tth1990, I posted this in the other thread - I'm beginning to wonder if the powder form of turmeric has artificial coloring because the natural root form that I'm using doesn't stain a lot. Using cetaphil, it takes off 90% of the yellow. I use a little bit of powder foundation so the staining is not an issue for me.
tth1990,i have trouble getting the yellow stain off face but for a day,not 3 to 4 days like you.
I use a cetaphil bar of soap to wash it off but after 3 washes the yellow stain is still noticeable so when i wash myself that night it as all come off.I have tried baby wipes too but this doesn't get rid of it all.
baking soda should wash it off. i bought some turmeric roots
I've tried that, and it didn't help me. I actually did about 3 consecutive washings with it and it didn't do anything.
FYIrub emu oil on yellow stain for 30 seconds, it will be 100% off
Thanks, I will keep this in mind, but can't spend the extra money right now to order some. I'm in a rural area and it's not available in stores here.
Think jojoba oil might help a bit?
If you are going to an asian store then try to get the root. I would google it and bring a picture. Someone said something about there being a translation for different languages, so a picture may be best.
I have been using the powder (i got it from the super market). Its working wonderfully, but i JUST have red marks. I do NOT have scars. I hear the root is the best, its all natural.
