if tumeric is that good, then ppl who use it would hav acne-less skin and won't even bother to join us in Acne.org....

but anyway, i'm going to buy some tumeric powder!! thanks for posting on tumeric LPN455!!! 🙂

I'm going to try this tonight.

So you're meant to make a paste and leave it on your face overnight right? Thing is, I sleep on my side or my front so it will all probably come off onto the towel I put down. Will it still work? I would sleep on my back but I can't.

Also, how much are you meant to take orally? I have empty capsules that I can fill but don't know how much I should use.

Oh and I read that it thins the blood and is good for high blood pressure. Well what if you have low blood pressure already? Could it cause adverse effects?

Whoa, I just put this stuff on my face and my hands are stained really yellow. I'm definitley not leaving this on overnight. I just tried srubbing my hands and it wouldn't come off. I'm scared what I'm going to look like when I wash this off in a few hours! I have no bicarb of soda or anything similar to wash with... only salt but that's a bad idea right?

lol i had the same problem. It stained my hands bad! but for some reason it came off my face relatively easy. I used a very mild scrub and i evened out the skin tone with some sudocrem lol.

I only used it as a mask once and it was only for 10-20 minutes; ive been taking it internally and its amazing what it is doing. Usually when i wake up in the morning new spots have emerged and others have got larger and some have got smaller etc etc. However by taking it internally new spots havent formed at all over the last 2 days!! Im going to use it as a mask as well tonight to try and speed up the process

That because tumeric it only natural cheap stuff that can use in asia and it know as healing acne, wound or scar. American use another way to treat it but it not natural without natural even u healing your face a long term won't be good because it chemical.

Hi LPN455,

I have used the mask on two consecutive nights now. The first night i mixed it with a little water and the 2nd night i used some lemon juice. I think i prefered when i just used water. I thought this morning that my skin was more red than when i just used water......

Will it work as well with just water???

Also did you say that it can get a bit worse before it gets better?

Warning... if you're doing this for the first time I would not recommend leaving it on the whole night. I left it on for a couple of hours in the evening and even after washing it off, I now look like I have jaundice. It's fine because I'm not going anywhere and I think it will die down before tomorrow but had I used it overnight and only washed it off in the morning then I would have spent the day looking rather yellow :eh:

Ha ha! too late! I already left it on over night! It does come off though - i used bicarbonate of soda and water and then my usual cleanser - i thought there was a very slight yellow tinge still, but when i asked my friend he said i looked fine....I've also read on here that you can use yogurt to get the yellow off and then a cleanser afterwards.....

Mine just came in the mail today. I'm doing a small patch test as I write this. I'm going to leave a dab the size of a quarter on for 20-30 minutes and then see how well it washes off. If it's not bad I will do my entire face.

I just drank a spoonful too...not the best tasting stuff in the world, haha.

Oh that's good! So you can get using it now! Don't worry, it does come off the face much easier than it comes off your hands! I haven't tried getting it off with yogurt yet but i have some now so i will try that in the morning. Bicarb of soda does work, but you need to do it a few times and use your cleanser afterwards. Don't worry - it will be ok!

It makes my skin so soft! Wow! Okay, so I know people get hyped up over things and let their eyes fool them as compared to seeing the real results, but it honestly gave me a nice complexion after the first application. My red marks are looking less noticeable, and I washed this off hours ago, so it's not my immediate results from it or anything. I used lemon juice to make it paste, btw.

It was HARD for me to get off. That being said I was doing it 'naturally' since I don't have a good cleanser that won't strip away oils and such. I just soaked my face in a sink full of water and scrubbed with my hands...and surprisingly didn't stain my hands since I washed them right away.

Now, I was tired of scrubbing and potentially irritating my face so I left a few yellow spots because I'm not doing anything today anyway. I was surprised to find that once my face was dry I couldn't see any yellow at all. So your face being wet definitely shows the yellow more than your face being dry; don't fret.

I'm looking forward to doing this again tonight.

Also keep in mind I drank a teaspoon full, and I can tell this is really potent stuff, since I'm still have little burps hours later in the day that taste like a hint of ginger. I wouldn't be surprised if ingesting it is helping too so I will still do that everyday even though the taste is awful.

I wouldn't use Baking soda to get the staining off guys. Baking soda is extremely alkaline - it breaks down your skin's acid mantle, which is your first defense against pimples in the first place.

Apply the paste at night, wash off after 15 mn (or longer - but I wouldn't advise overnight). Use a wash cloth with cleanser or oil. Not all the staining will come off initially if you are fair. But the following morning's wash should take the remainder off - did for me and I'm super pale.

do NOT EVER sleep with ur head on a towel!! a towel is made specifically to dry up moisture, it will dry all of the moisture from ur face all night long, and ur oil glands will slowly go crazy and start making more oil.... i slept with a towel over my pillow all thru childhood....i just thought it felt nice on my face, and i developed cystic acne at 14 and everyone in my family has perfect skin, including grandparents!!!

just dont do it

im rubbing monistat anti chafing gel power under my makeup as a primer (it fills in everything, and makes my face smooth under my makeup, and it controls the oiliest skin FOR HOURS....NO SHINE AT ALL)

i just googled monistat anti chafing gel power and it doesn't specify for face at all. It really fills everything in? What kind of scars do you have? You've just gotten me really excited =)

if u google monistat chafing gel as primer a million posts will come up....or search it here on this site, alot of people are using it under makeup...it has alot of dimethicone in it, and it plumps the skin, and it takes HOURS AND HOURS for any shine to show up on ur face....it KILLS SHINE on ut face....

I'm officially never going to use this on my whole face again! Either I have an extra potent powder than you guys, or my skin is different, because it's really hard for me to get off without tearing my face apart from scrubbing, and I can't be doing that. I even tried baking soda 3 times and it didn't help much. It's still pretty yellow tingy and I plan on trying to finish washing it off tomorrow morning.

The first time I did it I just used a Q-Tip and applied blotches on my red marks around my face. It took me a good few minutes to get all of them, but the yellow washed off much easier this way.

Results the 2nd time: None, because I had to scrub my face so much, I'm pretty sure I irritated it a bit. Hope I don't get any new breakouts!

Will keep everyone posted.

This would be day three using the turmeric. I have read through the post and I really do not know how you guys are swallowing this stuff. It smells pretty awful. I bought small capsules and i take two a day.

I was washing it off with baking soda- but after the post about it being bad for my skin, i'll just try using my cleanser. I dont really mind the staining so much. I just painted my nails and I'll deal with them later. :D

I read another post from battwoman04 and I saw that you said putting it on a cotton ball or something. I think I'll try that as far as my nails go!

As far as results- just a nice complexation and soft skin.

Why would u want put whole face for? If u only put only in the problem area that u have it so easy to take it of, I really don't understand why it would so hard to take out the stain if u only put little bit on the problem area.

Hi guys, just noticed no one really explained how to use turmeric. Allow me to impart some of my ancient knowledge. ;)

The most effective form of turmeric you can buy is the root form. On wikipedia, there's a picture:

You cut a small stub of it off and then poke the exposed orange inside with a toothpick. As you poke it, juice should start coming out. Rub the orange part on your face. Make sure there's a bright visible liquid on your skin or you're not using enough.

It'll dry quickly and you can leave it on overnight. In the morning, washing it off it not really an issue for me. But I just read that baking soda works? The yellow tint isn't so bad, dust a little foundation on it if it's stubborn.

Hope this helps!

Yeah my skin is much softer and the spots dont hurt as much and arent as sensitive. Im actually coming accustomed to the taste of turmeric now. To drink it before i had to hold my nose drink it fast then add some milk or something to dumb down the taste; but now i dont mind drinking it.... you could even say i may even like it :shifty: :shifty:

where do you find the root? should I try finding an asian store in my area? I've just been using the powder.

DAY 4- i woke up and a few of my small red marks were much smaller. I just used it as a spot treatment, because i like to put BP on my active acne. I've noticed that turmeric really dries out my active acne as well. Has anyone noticed that?

My parents told me that pretty much any asian store has it. They might not understand the word turmeric, so be sure to write down the translation of it (also on wikipedia).

Hi Helio,

I have been using the normal turmeric powder you find in any supermarket and mixing with a little water - is this not going to be potent enough?? I have done 3 nights now with it and i am getting fed up with the staining and then trying to get it off in the morning!!!! Then i heard that the bicarb is a bad idea for the skin, so today i tried lemon juice and yogurt - it was quite good but still a bit yellow. I used some toner and some blending and bleaching cream i had left from a peel i did a while ago....that did the job!
