Sam you ONLY want bioinhibition when your treating hypertrophic (raised) scarring. NOT when treating atrophic scarring.... it could make them worse....
Hey Lamarr,I'm in the same boat you were, i dont have enough money to pay for the treatments with Dr Chu, so I think i will have two more with him, then i'll do the rest myself. But, is there any chance in when doing the procedure that you could possibly make things worse....obviously, i'm not gonna be perfect at it so i'm just a little scared that i may do it wrong and cause more damage.
Also, what are you're thoughts on this particular roller...

I have seen loads with the wooden handle, like the one Dr Chu uses but when i type it up in ebay the above one always comes up. Any advice is appreciated.

hey lamarr, sorry if this question has been asked before.. this thread is huge and i do not have the time to browse through all 31 pages.
what is your view on the temple areas? what do you think would be the ideal depth to penetrate? i've heard of people not going past 1mm as the temple area is different from your cheeks.
how much terproline do you use? generous amount? or a small dab as if you were putting on lotion.
led therapy.. does it matter what order you use the lights? i am currently doing 5 minutes of yellow, followed by 5 minutes of red/infared.
post treatment redness. i followed your words thoroughly, about being aggressive. I was a bloody mess and I had bruising/redness for the first 4 days. 2 weeks later and I still have a little bit of redness. should I wait it through or should I be concerned?
thanks!
Sam read my post 607 again i answered at the top bro!! I was seeing chu every 3-4 months. Now i'm down to every 6 months to monitor my meds. Dermaroller i can't remember it was that long ago, but its A160 per half an hour so you get charged that plus another A40 or so i believe? SOmething in that region i believe.

For the temple areas i think the 1.5mm roller is OK, just go lighter over this area that the rest of your face....less pressure and more care and it should be fine. If you have the money for a 1mm roller and want to be safe you could do that though.... I haven't had my temples done by Chu but maybe other people have? Terproline you only need the smallest amount, just enough to put a very thin layer all over. Maybe the size of a pea or two for the entire face?
Your LED therapy sounds fine, remember you need to do 5 minutes of each area treated. If you have a smaller device you will need to treat several areas for 5 minutes each.
What kinda of skin tone do you have? e.g. olive, tanned, pale etc.
Could you post a picture of the redness if you dont mind? If you have slightly tanned skin you might have some temporary hyperpigmentation but it will eventually go. But please post a pic so i can have a look.
Interesting... Let me see if I have the directions right.
1) Roll skin with .2mm dermaroller and apply EMLA cream, cover with Saran Wrap, wait 1 hour and then wipe off EMLA.
2) Needle individual scars with the 31G 5mm diabetic needles 20-30 times at a depth of 3mm.
3) Roll skin with 1.5mm or 2mm dermaroller.
4) Apply Terproline face cream to skin. Apply once every day.
5) Apply red/infrared LED therapy for 5 minutes and then yellow LED therapy for 5 minutes. Apply once every day.
6) Repeat every month.
I have 2 questions.
1) I am not too sure about the technique used to needle individual scars. Should all of the piercings be angling toward the center of the scar or should there be some degree of randomness added? Example: Some piercings through the center of the scar angling away from the center? And some piercings 90 degrees scattered at the base of the scar?
2) And I am not exactly sure how long to roll with the dermaroller for... Assuming I use the roller that Dr. Chu uses, how do I know when to stop rolling and is it possible to get carried away with rolling and roll too much? I am guessing that you are supposed to roll horizontal, vertical, and diagonally but then how do you know when to stop?
Sorry lamar didn't see your reply at the top of your post.Lamar, couldn't i use one of these LED laser 10mW 660nm or a 35mW 660 from www.aixiz.com to treat one depressed scar at a time?
Again bro i only mentioned Lasers because i think they can be helpfull in treating raised scarring. If you want to use them on your depressed scaring you would want to aim for biostimulation. e.g. aim for about 4-5 j per cm2. You can try it but i haven't tried it or heard of anyone trying it either. I could see it working very well if you get the right treatment times..
lasers essentially do the same job as LEDs do for us, but just much more efficiently.

when i needle I try to hit each scar very thoroughly and I hit the scars from all angles.
theres vids on youtube of people getting rolling done. that can give you an idea of what you want to go for when you roll. the more you do it the better at it you get.
I am wondering about the time frame between everything. I wonder if the Terproline should be applied immediatley after dermarolling? And then the light therapy immediately after applying Terproline? I am not sure about this part...
I am also wondering if the Terproline and light therapy should be done in the morning or right before bed time?
Does anyone know what would be best?
Lamar,if i bought the 660nm 35mW laser module how would i know how long to stay under it for to reach the 4/5 j per cm2 per scar and how far away from the skin should i have it?
Not sure, would need to be calculated though.... Just buy a 5mw diode and use it for 12 minutes or so on a single scar at a time, if you keep the focusing lense on 12 minutes is about right but if you remove it, then you have to take into account distance and all sorts. It's not simple and that's why i haven't recommended it.

I don't apply it immediatley after rolling but some do.... It doesn't really matter to much but i tend not to because of an icnreased chance of infection. Non of these topicals are sterile remember...Leave it till the next day to begin applying things like that.
Light therapy do before bed, ideally on clean skin, then apply the terproline straight after.
hi Mark, i think i speak for most of us hear in the forum, thank you so much for sticking with us for the past few months. it must have been 8 month or so if i remember correctly. you have hell a lot of patience. thank a lot man, you're the best
No problem man, i love helping people out and i feel i have aquired quite alot of knowledge that can help others. So why not share it is the way i think!! Thanks for the kind words man.
I rolled last Friday night and I'm still red today, Tuesday. But i did roll aggressively this time. Luckily I have some time off so I have nothing to worry about.
I have a few suggestions for you.
If it's your first time rolling, roll when you know you have a few days off. That way you can see how your skin reacts. It also gives you a chance to to determine what you feel is the appropriate amount of time needed before you can go back to work/school.
From my experience with my white complexion, if you roll moderately, your skin will only look red for 2 days. By the third day it's a light pink and you can go about your usual business. So you can roll Friday night and be ready for the next work week.
I've noticed that the areas of my face where my skin is thinner (temples, forehead, cheekbones) seem to stay red longer.
A little bit of makeup will go a long way. I don't bother with makeup though.
If someone asks why your face is red and you don't want to tell them the truth, just say sunburn. If they say, but it's the winter what are you doing outside, just say, i don't know, but it's a sunburn, lol.
First and foremost THANKS to the original poster of this thread as it is very informative and interesting, not to mention extremely helpful! Much appreciated by all here no doubt!!
In a few weeks time I am due to try dermarolling for the 1st time, at home with 1.5mm 3 line roller. I have gone through this thread and others and have my EMLA, 70% iso alcohol, hibiscrub and terproline.
The thing is I am not sure about how I should be treating my face right before and after the rolling session. I know lamarr suggested using the Hibiscrub before and after to help cleanse the face but do I do this just after using my normal skin cleanser or forget about the cleanser? And when you say the alcohol wipes, do you mean just putting a bit of it on some cotton wool? Sorry for being so pedantic but I am somewhat terrified of doing things to my face that I am in any way unsure about!
Also what do I do the night of the dermarolling? What should I use to cleanse my face and to keep it clean and free from infection that night. I am not going to apply the terproline until the following evening but I don't like the though of these hundreds of skin pin-pricks being open to the elements that night. Should I maybe just use the hibiscrub lightly that night and leave it at that?
Thanks again for all your help Lamarr and the otehrs who have contributed, like I said; really, really appreciated!
I shower, shave, and then apply the emla.
After the emla has done it's work, I wash my face with cetaphil, my normal cleanser, and then dab some cotton balls with rubbing alcohol and wipe the area I'm going to roll.
As i am letting my face dry, I do my prep work for the roll.
I have plenty of paper towels ready to wipe away any blood and I make sure the roller is clean. I soak the roller in rubbing alcohol for a few minutes (I place the roller in a 1/2 filled disposable dixie cup) and then let the roller dry.
Then I roll.
After rolling I wash my face gently with cetaphil and then wipe the areas i rolled with rubbing alcohol.
I clean the roller off with water and then let it soak in a fresh cup of rubbing alcohol. I let the roller dry and then put it away.
Make sure your linens are clean and sleep on your back if you can.
It might also be useful to have some moisturizer handy bc your face will feel dry for a few days post rolling.

Many thanks, your response is really helpful.
Personally I think i will shave the evening before rolling so as not to aggravate my skin beforehand.
Would you apply moisturise the night of rolling? Like a few hours afterwards or say an hour or so?
Thanks!
I want to ask, if anybody of you except Lamarr got good results with dermaroller+LED's. Thanks for response.
cant forget individual needling, thats a big part of what he has discussed. I have not achieved the results lamarr has. But he also has been at this much longer then me among other things that factor in like different scarring ect..
I have made improvements on some scars and area's of skin while other scars and area of skin have not responded well. Its an ongoing process and I just need to keep it at.

Thanks for your response. I will also try lamarrs protocol in the future, but I still get some breakouts and I'm 28 - damn.
To Lamarr: I have red the whole thread, but there are not many results documented. Might it be that the red/infrared LED's can aggreviate acne lessions (? Because I tested the Needling+LED on one scar and I got pimples on areas, where I placed LED device.
