Good powerpoint on needling. Check it out:

http://www.karinskorner.net/skin-needling.pdf

Not to seem ungraceful (because I am) but that powerpoint didn't include any steps to the needling process which noobs like me and a few others are interested in. Is that information available somewhere here or on another board? I read Lamer's guide but that's mainly consisted of the necessary equipment and supplies, rather than the details of the actual needling/dermarolling process. Thanks

Can someone tell me if you need an insulin pen or tool to remove the bd-microfine needles from its plastic case? I'm having a hard time removing it without possibly contaminating the needle. I'm guessing I need to order the pen too?

Use a pair of tweezers to grab the little needle at the back of the pen (not the sterile end you will be pushing into your face).

Hello,

I needled one relatively shallow scar last saturday to test the response of my skin. I picked my scar several times with a 0.2mm lancet approximately 1.5mm deep till blood came out. After the needling

I used the LED's as Lamarr advised and one time per day. The scar had a purple color for 4 days.

Unfortunately I do not see any improvement. So my question to youse: Is it possible that the scar can

improve the next time? By the way: I didn't have any swelling after the needling and I also use terproline . Thanks for yours advise.

You won't see any results in the first 4 days, or even the first week. But after about 2-3 weeks you will start seeing results and most of the results from the initial needling will come within the first 3-4 months.

Whats the name of the vitamin C serum u use lamarr1986 and what PH as it?

This one is the one i have used in the past. It definenetly works but it does give me minor breakouts so bear that in mind...

hey lamar, so this treatment should definitely not be done on accutane or few months following accutane correct? do you have any advice for accutane users?

I would say you should wait the recommended 6 months post tane. Your skin should thicken up on its own in this time period anyway. Accutane thinned my skin quite alot and it did recover somewhat fromt his on its own.

lamaar could you please shed light (no pun intended) as to what is best light in helping discolouraions, hyperpigmentation?

I would guess at either red or yellow being the best. Some people are starting to experiement with green, but not enough feedback on these yet. You just need to experiment because it seems people respond differently in terms of pigmentation. Keep doing the dermaroller or needling and using the yellow or red leds..

I had my dermaroller done from Dr Chu today. Wow, very painful!

My next appointment is towards the end of September, im a bit worried...isn't that a bit too long?

For those of you that use the terproline cream, you just use it twice a day?

When it comes to sunscreen can i put it on now or shall i wait till tmrw...i dont want to irritate my skin...so shall i wait?

I didnt really get to ask Dr.Chu many questions, as he was really busy today.

So, thanks for any help x x

Hi buddy.

I had my dermaroller while you were sending this messege 🙂 i just got home. Yes it was painfull but not unbearable. Didn't take long anyway.

My question is.. Dr. Chu didn't appl any terproline or any other cream to help collagen production? I asked him if i need to apply any cream and he said no. He told me not to use anything until the next session, which is after 3 months. I'd like to believe that but i don't think having dermaroller done every 3 months will be enough to fade scars. But on the other hend, it is the Doc. who says that. Why he didn't mention about terproline if it helps? i didn't get it.

Hi, i hope your dermaroller session went well. Yeh, its mainly the numbing cream that takes longest time but my actual rolling session was about 5 mins.

I agree im really worried that my next session is over 3 months away, right at the end of Sept! I'm hoping lamarr86 reads the thread soonish and he could tell us the length of time between his treatments.

I found out about terproline through this board, so im taking the advice of those on this forum about the cream, they said it helps them.

Also, i guess its the use of the LED lights that may help more then the cream...

Sixfeetunder - good luck for your appointment next month, when i went for my appointment today, all the nurses were saying that the results with dermaroller are very good and it has a high success rate. So, that made me really happy and hope it will give you more confidence that you can have your scars treated as well.

What LEDs did you order? Im a bit unsure of which ones to order...

Thanks

I use terproline twice per day yes, about frequency... i woudl wait atleast 6 weeks prefferably 2 months. I actually wait about 6 months between treatments at the moment because i can't find a free 4-5 days for downtime!! 3 months is fine by the way, you need to give the collagen a chance to become established between sessions.

I also really recommend this sunblock, you need a physical sunblock with zinc in it and these are great....

Hey thanks for replying. Just wondering, why isn't a good idea to use the terproline straight away?

In terms of straight after dermarolling? i don't see a problem with that, i just don't see it having a huge benefit as some people seem to think there may be (in terms of better results due to increase absorbtion). I start using terproline the day after ive had dermaroller/needling.

Hey Lamarr,

I've heard around but haven't gotten a clear answer yet for this question. I have used diabetic lancets from walgreens, they are the ultra thin ones. People say this is bad to use because there is a beveled edge, and yes it does at the tip of the needle. They say it creates scar tissue or something.

What's your opinion on these for self needling? I'm up for needling again in 2 weeks, I know there was a link somewhere for the ones that you use, I'll look for your post. Thanks!

Thanks Lamarr. Just wondering - sorry, all these questions are pretty annoying for you! - did you have any pigmentation prior to dermaroller and your use or LEDs, did it improve if you did?

I have loads are tried everything to get rid of them, so wanted to know if LEDs would help?

Thanks again

I was also wondering about what is the best needle type as when I tried needling a couple of years back it made my scars somewhat worse. I used diabetic needles. I am thinking of giving needling another go though, in conjunction with a red light laser I got recently, but I will certainly be more cautious this time and only try it on 1 scar.

Also, I have been reading about light therapy and some say a laser is better than LEDs, others say it makes no difference. Someone also mentioned that a halogen lamp may give a better spectrum than LEDs... The hand-held laser I've bought is OK but only covers a small area, like 2mm across, and I have to be v careful not to let it shine in my eyes! How are these LED lamps, are they OK if they shine in your eyes? And how big an area of skin do they cover at once?

Thanks.

if you are dealing with scars then 1.5mm roller or BD Micro-Fine Pen Needle 31 G x 5mm..Lamaar just posted all this a couple pages back. the led lamps are great..go read up on lamaars "how to guide" he posted on page 24 of this thread..it will answer your questions.

Hey has anyone had the experience of skin peeling after a rolling session? I mean like you would from a relatively moderate chemical peel. I rolled again on sunday (It had been six weeks) and I'm still peeling.

Anyone?? Using what I've always used for topicals.

Any input would be lovely. Thanks :-)

Lamarr, I just recently ordered the 100ml professional Terproline. Do you know how long it should last if I only use it on my face? Thanks

Having read the useful 'How To' guide I still don't know how big an area the LED devices cover in one go, or whether it's OK if they shine in your eyes... basically I'm wondering if there would be advantages to me purchasing a device from the ledman as well as my laser device, as the disadvantages of my laser are

a) it only covers a very small area at once

b) I'm scared of accidentally shining it in my eyes

The ledman said not to use the infared near the eyes. You need to wear eye protection or don't use it near your eyes. He also said not to use the infared on the skull. As far as coverage, I use use it for 25 minutes on temple, chin, & cheeks ( 3 minutes each area). The infared can not be used for more then 25 minutes. Hope this helps.

hello everyone, i wanted to ask a question about this treatment. do you think it would be okay to dermaroll + led therapy in conjuction with cooltouch? cooltouch is non invasive and it stimulates collagen growth and is done once every 4 weeks. so i was thinking mid month, dermaroll, 2 weeks later cool touch, 2 weeks later dermaroll etc.

Really tough to say... You only need the smallest amount but i would guess 6 months or so? i have only had the 50 and 250ml. 6 Months min i would say though.

I would say that is to often, maybe alternate the dermaroller with a cooltouch. E.g. dermaroller one month then cooltouch the next. I wouldn't want to do something to my skin every 2 weeks...

I phoned SkinMed and asked about Terproline Professional. They say i can not buy it, i have to ask Dr. Chu to order it for me.

Asked about the difference between the regular one and the professional one. Professional Terproline is 3 times stronger.

Remember just because something is three times stronger doesn't mean it will work three times as well. I found that although the professional works better it isn't THAT much better, not even twice as good...
