So lets be honest here. This is page 87. How promising is "scarless healing?"
It has been cited.
We've seen it visually.
Where have you seen it? How much improvement have you seen? What type of scars were they?
This was done with an earlier artificial scaffold
The collagen fibrils didn't over express (over create collagen) collagen to create scar, this allowed the intercellular cells to create tissue, like what happens in our unwounded skin when we constantly remodel our tissues.
Decorin done the same thing.
The more insight researchers can gain from gestational scar-free healing the more likely it could be replicated in adults.

Scar free healing has been done(cited), we have cites that prove it is done, we have seen it visually on an artificial scaffold.

seabs if you could get hold if Acell would you test it out ???
I wont be testing it, but I will be trying it.
Liking your enthusiasm. When will you be trying it? I know we all are scarred and feel bad about it but at least we have hope living in the present date compared to 10-20 years ago with nothing to look foward to..

My enthusiasm is subjective.
This board is a joke. I'm out. There is no product currently available that will allow you to regenerate scar free skin. Anybody who genuinely thinks so is only fooling themselves.your gay
What the fuck is your problem? BTW, it's "You're gay" as in you are gay, not "your gay" as in you are in possession of a gay. Fucking Dumbass. People have sent me hateful/condescending ignorant messages (seabs135/A13 forever/and now you) that's why I made that post. Who slanders people anymore by calling them gay? It's almost 2010. You must live a hateful life you homophobe. You need to grow up. So what if I actually were gay? Would that make me less of a human being? I know many gay people and it's unfortunate that they have to deal with people like you.

Interesting article about stem cells completely restoring scarred corneas in eyes back to normal. The scientists indicated that there was no difference between non treated healthy corneas vs. the fixed corneas through stem cells. No signs of damage. They also said that generally, cornea scarring was considered permanent. Now that's no longer the case.
I really hope this is the same for skin. We all have been waiting for too long!
Thanks for posting that. I've read about that study but it was referenced in another article that wasn't as detailed.
"In the next steps, the researchers intend to use the stem cells to treat lab animals that have corneal scars to see if they, too, can be repaired with stem cells."
Fingers crossed. If they could that would be a huge breakthrough.

Settle down, all I do on this board is post cited facts with a small premise as possible, I'm one messenger. I personally deal with cited facts. I try not to insult people on the board.
Stop chucking around ad hominem attacks.
I do not speak for these two but, you included me.
You are out of order here. You snide the cited research of others.
Fair enough deadliest catch reacted, as he is human. But ypou've come onto this board trying to be the thought police.
You are the one that has come on here being aggressive.
If you chuck stones do not be offened if you get a rock through your window.
This is my first post, hopefully I can help diffuse some of the tension. I'm a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon by The American Board of Plastic Surgeons and I specialize in reconstructive surgery. I'm not involved in any research, but nevertheless I am immensely knowledgeable about my specialty and am quite familiar with most research that relates to my vocation. Suffice to say, a product or procedure that could augment the body's natural healing process would be of enormous benefit. Scar tissue is not only aesthetically unpleasant, it often brings about complications that can seriously hinder the quality of a patient's life. I'm afraid I can't afford the time to go into the greatest detail but presently no such method exists. Apligraf has been referred to as a product capable of regenerating skin - this isn't an accurate description. Apligraf is a bilayered skin substitute that is primarily utilized to heal diabetic foot and venous leg ulcers, however it is also being used in other situations. Basically, Apligraf provides a collagen scaffold and specific growth factors that have otherwise been compromised to facilitate natural wound healing (which includes scar tissue formation). It does not contain hair follicles, sweat glands, blood vessels, melanocytes, langerhans cells, macrophages, or lymphocytes. Even though it is doesn't regenerate skin, it has prevented many amputations, and for that I'm grateful for it's existence. Due to my schedule, it's unlikely I'll post on this forum again. I wish all of you the best of luck and hope researchers continue to make progress towards one day being able to regenerate skin.
Take care,
PlasticSurgeon

Thank you for your reply and input.
Just in case people get their wires crossed, and may unwittingly twist my position on the picture, I have never said the product apligraf would bring you scar free healing all the time.
I showed a picture, a visual of complete 'scar free healing' with an earlier crosslinked scaffold.
Note: The picture we see for some reason had no visual scar. Which is what the conversation was about. It was a visual of scar free healing. I personally was not discussing the merits of Apligraf. I was showing the picture -of an earlier scaffold- that had no scar.
The picture had no scar. Therefor the picture had no scar.
Under the microscope because this scaffold is crosslinked, you may have found scarring were the intercellular cell were blocked? However, visually in that one picture there is no scarring whats so ever.
BTW I understand that the product is crosslinked.
It is my researched understanding that crosslinking = fibrotic encapsulation? Fibrotic encapsulation = scarring of some of or all of the fibrils (over expression of collagen on tyhe fibrils), where the intercellular cells cant get through.
In no where in my posts have I ever said apligraf would bring you scar free healing all the time. Apligraf is a crosslinked product that has saved lives. But for some reason the intercellular cells got through the fibrils in this picture and created a visual of scar free healing on that picture.
Don't know if it has been posted but the pictures on this link show that an excision on the nose left no scar using Apligraf. &imgrefurl= http://www.biomed.metu.edu.tr/courses/term_papers/artificial%2520skin_cinar.htm&usg=__dHxyQwi8Y9cd1Jq7MPP4qj5caEE=&h=221&w=309&sz=48&hl=en&start=15&um=1&tbnid=2b_yNG09UAsXvM:&tbnh=84&tbnw=117&prev=/images%3Fq%3DApligraf%2Bbefore%2Band%2Bafter%26hl%3Den%26um%3D 1" rel="external nofollow">Scar
Anyone gotten hold of Acell already? Tried it?
i was going to test out Acell but now im holding off untill im convinced. Im in London so i cant get hold of Acell myself but my aunt can, shes a dermatologist. Anyway i will probably wait a while before i test it out becuase i have not really found any convincing evidence yet that this will actually give me 100% scar free skin after having a scar excised. i did email mike manning at acell and he told me that they dont plan on doing any trials with acne scars which makes me wonder why when there could potentially be a huge demand from acne scar suffers - not convincing. he also told me that they had successfully treated surgical scar revisions but no studies have been conducted to determine how much scar tissue exists in the regenerated tissue? - why would they not check if scar tissue remains after the prodecure ?
Hey v_singh do you have any scars on your body you could try it on. As mike manning told you they are not planning to do trials on acne scars so your waiting a while will take a very long time. I believe that Acell trials have to start somewhere perhaps if your not willing to try you could obtain the Acell and give it to someone on this board who has a willing doctor to test it out?
