Hey v_singh do you have any scars on your body you could try it on. As mike manning told you they are not planning to do trials on acne scars so your waiting a while will take a very long time. I believe that Acell trials have to start somewhere perhaps if your not willing to try you could obtain the Acell and give it to someone on this board who has a willing doctor to test it out?
hi Tom, the funny thing is i donthave ANY scars on my body but my acne is much worse on my body then my face. and i only have scars on my face. i was thinking about just getting an area of my skin on my body excised as if a scar was there and see if acell regenerates the skin back to normal but im not sure what this would show since there would be no scar tissue there in the first place. i also have a small flat mole/mark on my body that i could get removed in the same way as an acne scar and see what Acell does but again im not sure what that would show. since i only seem to scar on my face and not my body then mabey testing out acell on my body would be useless becuase im not sure how much of th healing would be done to my own naturall healing or acell ...
Should be OK if we try a non-crosslinked acellular matrix. Earlier stuff has regenerated sexual organs etc.
(you cannot get regeneration if there is scarring. i.e scarring is crosslinking of the collagen fibrils which blocks the intercellular cells from remodelling site specific tissue)
what do you mean 'you cant get regeneration if there is scaring' .. do you mean scar tissue that is still left over from excision ... so all the scar tissue must be removed and then Acell applied = 100% scar free skin ? .... sounds too good to be tru lol

Thats basically it. Seabs wrote a really good summary of this thread, its in my first post, I highly recommend you read to fill you in on how acell works. So what country are you in now? There are plenty of members in the U.S who are willing to try it only they could not get hold of any acell. I assume your prepared to send it to someone willing to test it out.

Hi, thanks for the reply, im gonna read thru the summary as soon as possible.
BTW im in London, England. if you are in the US you can quite easily get hold of it. you just have to find a derm who is willing to test it out on you and get them to email Acell requesting the product. Or you can just get your doctor/hospital to put the order in for you and then you can take it to any derm who is willing to use it. Mike Manning emailed me saying:
Our MatriStemA medical products are now available by prescription through your physician, hospital or clinic. Please visit our website, www.acell.com, for additional information.
another thing ... how does acell work to get rid of pitted/atrophic scaring. i was reading over the first couple pages of this thread and it seems that pitted scars are much harder to treat then surgical or other types of scars. can anyone explain why acne scars cause a pit/dent and how it is different to surgical scars/flat scars ? What would hasve to be done to raise the pitted scar to the level of the healthy surrouding skin ? it has to be more then just a bit a scar tissue in the skin that is causing the dent right ? how does acell overcome these problems ?

Acne scars cause a pit/dent due to lost of fats/muscles. For hypertropic scarring, it is an overexpression of collagen fibers during the healing process causing a lump of scar tissue that protrudes from the skin.
Anyway, acell would deal with these, if the whole skin is excised along with any scar tissue and allowed to regenerate with the ECM.
umm ... so your saying Acell regenerates fat and muscle and skin back to perfect order ??? my scars are a number of years old and i also have loads of large pores (this is actually my main problem with my skin) which are really pissin me off becuase they look exacty the same as the ice pick scars i have. Does acell get rid or large pores aswell ? if it does im going to try this out as soon as possible.
Also how would you prevent an infection when using Acell since you have to use it on an open wound ?
Hello everyone,
I have read the whole thread and find the topic very interesting.
So I thought I have to contribute something to this. Has anyone
heard of scar regeneration through the use of topical iodine?
A Canadian doctor named Dr.Derry wrote a paper with the titel
"Regeneration of human scar tissue with topical iodine". In this
paper he shows how scars can be regenerated by the use of lugol's
dilution. I have emailed him and asked him several questions. http://www.thyroidscience.com/cases/Derry.Iodine.Regen.6.7.08.pdf
I think, I will post some of them here soon. He really said, that every scar
can be regenerated by the topical treatment with lugol's dilution.
Read through the paper and tell me, what you think.
What about the ACELL stuff?? Anybody using this? I come from Germany.
There is no opportunity to get ACELL yet. Maybe someday soon. I have
many scars but not from acne on the body. I would do a test if it is possible
to get matristem.
I hope you will go one posting here, because it is a good place for people
who want to get informed about scar relating topcis. Perhaps we will
have scarfree healing soon.
So long

Ps.: Can anyone tell me how to creat a link here.

Welcome Neo,
I think you just post the url if you want to post a link.
Regarding Acell with international shipping, it should be soon. Saying they have signed a marketing and distribution agreement.
NeoMike, I posted this link a while back, but nobody responed to it. http://www.medical-hypotheses.com/article/...0641-5/abstract

hello katiekat,
as I said, I emailed Dr. Derry and he answered all of my questions. He said, that after 3-4 days
after applying lugol's dilution for each day the scars became reddened, every scar. So to his understanding there was new bloodflow in the scars. The start of regeneration? In his paper
he tried to show that it's really the start of scar regeneration. He used lugol's dilution for several month and saw new hair follicle in the scars and around the scars. If he stopped using topical iodine then the scar healed in the normal adult scar formation way. The regeneration could be started at will.

I think I will have to look up my old emails from him. There are 3 papers. 2 published in the "thyroidscience" and the newest one, you mentioned it, that was published in the journal "medical hypothesis".
Like you I am reading a lot about the topic. Shortly I will be a biologist, and so I have and will have direct access to most of the published data and papers about nearly every topic. I worked in the clinical field concerning breast cancer and developmental biology, especially the development of the nervous system of drosophila melanogaster. There you have stem cells like neuroblasts too. I find it interesting that in some model organisms like c. elegans you can follow the way of each stem cell. In humans this is much more complex.
One thing a the end I want to tell, some kind of an anecdote. Some days ago I talked to someone who I know from studying biology. He works in the field of matrix biology. And he told me that he explores proteases which can lead a wound to get scarred or not. I had a smile in my face. I never knew that there was some group at our university working on this field directly.
But as you can see, you never know.
Ps.: I'm sorry that you can not click on the link. I don't really knwo how to do it.*g*
I will respond to your questions in the next days.
To your question changelife:
I can't believe, that there should be no way to purchase lugol's dilution in your country. If other iodine based products work? I don't know.
To your question concerning stretchmarks. I asked him the same question and he believes that it should regenerate stretchmarks as well. It would work more quickly than with normal scars. He never tried it on stretchmarks, but he strongly believes it will work too.
@snowqueen: I don't know to what your answer is belonging. I think there are therapies for stretchmarks like micro needling or maybe topical iodine. Who knows what's around the corner.
[Edited link out]
I hope this link works. In this community you can read the papers of Dr.Derry.
I wish you all the best.
@NeoMike and maybe other users
Thanks. You are right, although there is no comercial-medication avaible, it is possible to order a mixture of lugols solution at the drugstore. Wikipedia says that it consists of 5g iodine, 10 g potassium iodine and 85 ml distilled water. I don't exactly know the percentage concerning iodine concentration, but I think it has to be between 10-15%, which is very strong and not healthy to use it in long term. So my question are, is it really as unhealthy as I expect? Should I dilute it with distilled water (maybe half of the origin percentage)? Is this treatment really adequate to treat old pitted scars? If not maybe additional needling is necessary to make the difference. Thanks again.
Hey anyone living in the U.S with acne scars, why dont u contact Dr Hitzig. He claims he can remove scars with acell and he might be willing to have an appointment with you guys.
I looked him up. If this is the Dr. you are talking about: http://www.nyhairloss.com/aboutdr.htm , it sounds like he specializes in hairloss. Where do you get the idea that he has experience using acell on acne scars?

A scar is a hyper over expression of collagen on the collagen fibrils, this hyper over expression then stops the intercellular cells crawling through the collagen to make site specific tissue.
A scar is a scar. All scarring is an over expression of collagen. Acne or not. If something works on one scar 1 x 2 etc, it will work on another scar 1x2 etc.
Surely if he is working on scarring he could logically work with acne scarring?

Yeah, thats the point, if he can regenerate a previous scar on the scalp to the point it has hair. It is proof of regeneration.
Guys, we need your action and participation. If you could contact Dr. Hitzig he will be more and willing to help you.
Is anyone gonna bother trying it. Everyone who was supposely going to try never came back here.
Either it made their skin rediculously worse and they commited suicide, or they had dramatic results and don't feel like sharring them and moved on with life. Though I still see them running around this forum posting random stuff.
Bump!!!
Hello everyone,
in my last post I talked about scar regeneration with topical iodine. I promised to post the email answers from Dr Derry, the man who wrote the regarding paper.
Here are his own words:
"I chose Lugolas because it worked. I have tried other methods but not seriously.
Why not try the SSKI and see how you get on. I would be interested.
The small black dots are so small you have to nearly have a magnifying glass to see them.
Best wishes
Davied"
"I put mine on before bed.
Stretch marks will heal I am sure with iodine as well. Your healing may go faster than normal as the scar is not complicated by disruption by surgical incision.
It will be interesting to see.
David"
"The plastic wrap is not important. It goes at the same speed with and without the wrap. The plastic wrap makes it more photogenic.
I have used the cover story that my dermatologist told me this was the best treatment for the scars.
Under the arm would be difficult to wrap.
I would forget the wrap. I have a feeling which I need to confirm that putting Vaseline over it works well.
I found that if the stain color disappeared the process stopped. So I put it on every day. The stain does not disappear into the tissues it disappears into the air.
The stain color is all important.
I hope that helps.
David"
"I just couldnat justify putting in a picture of normal skin. It proves nothing a I could have just made it up!
I donat know if you have seen the more complete paper in the Journal of Medical Hypothesis but if not that is worth a look. It is a summary of roughly where I am with the process.
This material as you can guess is completely new.
Scar healing time depends on the complexity of the scar. The straight forward plastic surgeon scar took close to a year. One has to be very patient but it works and works every time.
The size of the scar will also influence the time it takes to completely heal back to normal skin. I would persist until the scar is gone and no visual or palpable evidence is present.
As this is the first publication on scar regeneration ever seen there are no standard values. The worse case is the triple surgery I had on my abdomen. It will likely take about 5 years but you still you win.
Of course the process can be done by yourself. I think it helps to have a GP watch it too but they are very inhibited so it may be a losing proposition.
You will need to just use your judgment. I am really interested in your case from what you tell me.
I would like to follow you along all the way. Please send pictures by all means. Especially before you start.
Scars at disadvantageous places can be dealt with individually. I had a scar on my face which was easy to treat. I put Lugolas on and only if I was going out socially did I rub a moist Vitamin C tablet on it to remove the stain.
Then when I returned home I reapplied the Lugolas iodine solution and there was no change in the process doing this.
You have stumbled on the answer to scars. No one else has any idea about this.
I think if I follow you I can answer questions as we go. There are so many applications for iodine it is blinding.
See if you can find the other article a if you donat find it I will get the exact reference for you.
It is worth you time and money to get a good camera with good magnifying capabilities. I have been using Nikon Cool pix exclusively with megapixel capability of about 8.0 and then get good at taking close up pictures.
You will learn all sorts of things never seen by anyone before.
I hope the helps.
David"
"I appear to be the only one working on this field at present I hope my paper will induce others to take up this new area of research.
The scars completely disappear back to normal tissue. The more complicated the scar then the longer the regeneration takes. It is slow but it works every time and on all scars that I am aware of.
No harm in consulting your GP -- let him or her read the article as well. It is self explanatory so they should be keen to try it as well.
Let me know how you make out.
I hope this is of some help to you.
Best wishes
David"
Yeah, I hope it helps someone here. Maybe there is a solution at the moment. I don't know.
Wish you all the best.
Neo
Hey Neo,
Amazing post by the way, deeply appriciate the contribution.
But back to the topic. This really seems to be too good to be true, and if its true i wouldn't even mind walking around with stains all over my face, I can't look much worse anyways.
But since you seem to have such a close connection to him, I was wondering if you could enlighten me on how it would help sunken acne scars. I completely believe that there should be a topical application to the scar which could eliminate the scarred skin and it might just be iodine, but it seems like the scar itself could potentially be healed and look like the rest of the skin, but at the same time still be sunken as it has not regenerated fat, muscle etc.
But if it does, does it mean it will regenerate it back to the way it was before the injury, with the the pores and complete functionality (release sweat etc.), which I think it should if it's actually restoring hair at the site too, or is it more of a cosmetical accomplishment. Don't get me wrong it doesn't really matter to me, as long as you get results, but it's just good to know to understand what this actually does.
So yeah, I hope to receive some feedback, and once again thanks. Keep it up.
