President Obama has ended embryonic stem cell funding ban on Monday.

http://www.newsweek.com/id/188454

"Now, scientists say they can build on the work they've accomplished during the Bush-policy era, take it in different directions and learn from one another in whole new ways."

"Absolute excitement, enthusiasm, real hope for the future. " :D

This will surely fasten the pace of stem cells research.

President Obama has ended embryonic stem cell funding ban on Monday.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7929690.stm

'"It is a relief from the bureaucratic and accounting nightmares that have slowed our work, discouraged young scientists, and delayed progress for nearly eight years," said Dr. Douglas Melton of the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, who uses stem cells to try to cure juvenile diabetes and other illnesses.'

"Now, scientists say they can build on the work they've accomplished during the Bush-policy era, take it in different directions and learn from one another in whole new ways."

Although he do not have the power to overturn the Dickey-Wicker amendment, which prohibits using taxpayers' money to create embryos for destruction, lifting the ban will allow scientists to use the money given to NIH from the economic stimulus plan for stem cells research.

"Absolute excitement, enthusiasm, real hope for the future. " :D

This will surely increase the pace of stem cells research.

good news

I have put together a factfile that we could put in the first thread.

Also maybe a moderator could make this thread a sticky?

Tom Mason could edit his first post to put some introductory fact file report in. What do you think? Tom Mason does not have to do any work, merely a cut and paste. Or maybe a moderator could take control of the thread in some way?

If not then maybe a moderator could sticky a link thread to this thread and put the PDF fact file in that post?

I personally think something helpful and factual should be put up on the first post.

This factfile has many pages and Iam assuming the first post will have a text limit and picture file limit, so the factfile is a pdf file with code.

Here is the introduction factfile.

Also this is a fact file not an argument, it is here to inform and outline what we have discussed. Everything below that is written is valid and backed up, bar one or two things were I have claimed a fact back up is needed. It is a message. The facts are exactly matched in the cites and if you too find no cite fallacious then to argue with this would be similar to arguing with the messenger, it would be a kind of false argument if you think about it.

I honestly do not think I have made any glaring errors, but if I have you are free to correct and participate. I have no shame in being corrected if anyone finds anything fallacious.

I assume it will need a rough grammar and typo check. There will be the odd problem with the grammar. (But when has grammar or the odd spelling mistake changed facts?) Also there will be a lot of repeated redundant explanations, this is a fact sheet that has not been proof read for redundant tautology and explanations. Maybe a little repetition might help in the learning curve anyway? But I presume others might not like this and regard it as being baby fed?

It is not the most glossy of PDFas but there is fact based content we can use/not use as reference in the feedback.

What do you think about Tom_Mason putting it in his first post and a mod making the thread a sticky?

The pdf:

(modified it to remove html)

Thanks for your efforts. This looks like it could be very helpful. Is there any way to fix the html code in the document as it is not functioning properly?

Thank you.

Regarding the html, I put it there on purpose, so people could use it for reference and cut and paste it on the thread when needed in a discussion.

However looking at it again I could see it could be annoying.

You are right I think I will replace it without the html, sometime in the next 24 hours. It would be even better if we could have both but acne.org has a size limit as to what you can upload.

Do you agree that this thread needs to be a sticky franklins?

Yes, I think either the present sticky about scar treatments should be updated to include this. Or create a new sticky with innovations in scar treatment to include ACell, stem cell treatments and PRP. Bring it up to a mod, they will be able to see it gets put up.

Hey all I haven't checked out this thread for ages but I agree with the idea of making this thread sticky, I think it would be great so people won't have to search back pages whenever the thread doesn't get new posts and then cause them to post whats already here.

Even though I don't like how this thread is going any longer, I thought I owed it to the vets here to let them know that I am in talks with a great doctor/ plastic surgeon who is ordering ACell's products in the next week and will be treating me next month for my acne scarring and stretch marks. I may start a new thread then to give some progress reports once in a while. Again, I may or may not start a new thread (probably not because I'm SICK of sifting through all of the useless posts in these threads). For the vets out there, PM me if you want some private first-hand correspondence from me. I don't want to blab anything out here in public because the procedural information has a high chance of patent pending. Here's to a brighter future and to each of you who have kept a sound mind and realistic yet optimistic outlook. Bless you and I pray that all of my research and hardship may come to benefit you soon.

What is he getting done exactly? I have an appointment on apr 16 to try and talk my doctor into using acell's matristem wound care sheets after a dermabrasion to remove the scar tissue. I want to try this on a large hypopigmented scar on my forehead first. I emailed acell for the protocol for this and the only thing they said was they believe it should work as long as the scar tissue is removed. I would like to know as much info about the procedure so i can convince my doctor to try this on me.

umm, not sure exactly. he's post is 3 up from mine. well it seems like it'll work with dermabrasion, at least i wouldn't hurt to use it. tell us how your appointment goes and what your doctor has to say.

sorry i didn't see his post above yours, oops! Anyway I will let you know what happens. I am trying to collect as much info as i can before i go so i can convince him to use this. I even ordered 1 sheet to bring to his office with me. I haven't recieved it yet, I just got an email saying they were out of stock temporarily. I want to try this on a large hypopigmented scar on my forehead and hopefully it will not only improve the scars unevenness but also maybe get some pigment back. If it doesn't work i just keep my bangs and keep trying. Hopefully it does work because then i have a large excision scar along my nasiolabal fold that i will try next and some others too. Lets keep our fingers crossed!
