Does anybody know, when Acell will release their powder for human use? On one hand i've heard it will be released at the end of June on the other i heard end of this year. What do you think when will acne scar sufferer profit from their medicine? Thanks.
I was told end of june or july. Really hope it can deliver scarless healing, then my burden WILL END!!!
I'm still not sure acell will work on acne scars. When I was googling about how it can help a stretch mark I found this:
http://healthyskin.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a.../3230023815/p/2
Toward the end of the page there is a comment from katherinesmith that someone on an acne board had tried it on scar and it didn't work. When I was thinking back I thought I did remember someone maybe posting that here, got it from the vet, anyone remember.
It will be interesting to see how it works when more people can try it.

Thats sounds very good. But I think first it will be used for fresh injuries, to support scarless wound healing and not for sufferer with old acne scars. The treatment would be very different, because scar tissue has to be removed comletely. Much time will pass till this has been tested and any serious doctor is able offer such treatments(which would be not innocuous). What do you think about that?
[\ like the fact we have seen good examples of regeneration without scarring, and heard of complete regeneration without scarring using the ECM like the fact that a Dr now knows all the mechanisms involved in regeneration which was announced a couple of month ago.
Kirk, where did you hear that from? Can you provide a link? Or at least confirm this source as a reliable one. Cause, I dont find anything about a doctor annoucing that he/she has found all the mechanism/processes that is invovlved in the regeneration of skin on the net or anywhere.

Hello Tgan bud,
Iave posted them before, but then again Iave posted many links and you would probably spend hours looking through my links on this threada I seen a late stage diabetic ulcer get regenerated on tedtalks which to me is much more impressive than the finger, the lady was missing bones from her foot, the wound wouldn't close... The press picked up the wrong story for Acell as far as I'm concerned.
Ask a Dr just how hard diabetic ulcers are to heal. When I started researching scarless healing in about 2004/2005 they used to say scarless healing first and then on to harder wounds like diabetic ulcers...
Imagine what that could do to a 3mm wound?
1. Watch from about 11minutes to 12:30minutes:
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/142
2. Hereas the link from Dr. Heber-Katz were she announces she has sussed out the scarless healing mechanism. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/s...icle3867838.ece
for the key quotes:
Edwardsas prediction of the availability of new body parts has coincided with the announcement of a significant advance by Ellen Heber-Katz, a professor at the Wistar Institute, at Penn-sylvania university, and one of the leading experts in regenerative medicine.Yesterday she said her group had discovered the genetic characteristics that produce aoegood-as-new tissuea regeneration in laboratory animals.
This capacity, once activated in the human genome, has the potential to allow bodies to repair by themselves far more severe wounds a including surgical excisions a than is naturally possible. The repair would leave no scarring.
Hopeseed spotted the above in an acedemic journal before it got translated for the layman in that article.
I wonder how the body would regrow areas with large blood vessels like arteries. Obviously you couldn't have an open wound (like the finger man). There would have to be a blastoma like on a salamander. Otherwise we'd bleed to death and get infections.
I don't think they've figured out the blastoma thing yet. So large scale healing isn't figured out. Only little punch excisions maybe. So maybe a piecemeal surgery would have to be done to heal large acne scars.

Still they have to make the shift from laboratory animals to humans. I doubt it will take long though, all this sounds great.

After seeing Acell I'm not to concerned if they had have elucidated the mechanism as I can see scarless healing is almost here anyway, but still it is still reassuring to know they have got it.
You can still have scarless without knowing the signal mechanism and usually all cures are found before they know the mechanism. We cured scurvy with vitamin c but probably didn't know the precise mechanism be it because they didn't have the technology to micro search chemical reactions and signals we have to research with these days and the probable fact that 99.9% of all cures to date are made without ever understanding the mechanism (perhaps in the future this will be different).
But it is good to know its mechanism from an engineering standpoint. And that is what I was trying to convey to tricia as she did not seem to believe that scarless healing was almost here and gave the impression we were miles off. I tried to show her examples of Acell and the fact we now even know the mechanism by giving her the facts I had come across.
Anyway with the citations at least I can say from my perception, the mechanism is understood and scarless healing with an ECM is almost here and if it is not then we know the mechanism.
now..why dont you all start up a lab and work on it yourselfs?maybe start a website too for donations.another idea is to get organized along the lines of groups like glbt, aarp ect.nobody will ever know how much grief we have endoured in our lifes with having severe acne and acne scarring.also going on talk shows and the news shows.i think the community is tired of being made fun of and with everyone who has never suffered saying...its no big deal.im willing to be our first president.god..i have had everything done over the years.....including 2 trips to tijuana at clinic estetica.i think the best bet is to have plastic surgeons that actually have suffered with acne and acne scars and we might get people who care more and not just to make a dollar on us.even if scarring can be treated in the future...doesnt mean most of us could afford it with rising energy cost taking a lot of our pay checks nowdays.

Great idea but theres a few problems. Start up a lab and work ourselves? I doubt we have the capital much less the expertise. Start a website for donations? Hypothetically, it might work but I dont see people donating for a cause of acne and scarring. To the eyes of the public, these would be second degree compared to like others who suffered disfigurment or natural disasters etc.
And I totally agree with you, those who never suffered would say its no big deal, thats just so wrong.
nikkigirl,
I'm a little dismayed to see what you wrote about how different your life would be if you had never suffered from acne or scarring. As a sufferer of acne and some acne scarring as well, I can say that I know what you mean. I promise you that you CAN improve the appearance of your scarring through medical technology and such, and of course, with time. But it will never fade completely to the point that your skin looks how it did before you got acne. And if youre honest with yourself, you will realize that practically any human being who is alive and functioning does not have perfect skin. I agree, scarring can ruin your life, if you let it. If you let it be an obsession, and just focus on the negative aspects of it, you will never be able to be content or satisfied with what you do have, and what positive things there really are about your skin. I feel a lot of people who suffer from acne scarring are just constantly waiting for the day when its perfect again. you just keep telling yourself your life will go back to normal when its gone, when you feel better about it. I know because I've struggled so hard with that. What I do know is that its not worth feeling like your life could be different if it had never happened. the truth is you cant go back and change it, all you can do is improve it now, and live the life you want, however you want to. You gotta realize not everyone looks at your skin the way you do. other people notice how you act, dress, carry yourself, laugh, smile. your life can be AMAZING right now, regradless of what scarring undisputedly does to a persons confidence. you can choose to let go of it
edit.wow. great post. thanks.
Please stop with your sarcasm. Bulgarian Derm. is a competent poster, who is able to answer difficult
questions. There must be a reason for his empty posting and probably he will answer the question later.
This is puzzling. I was being sincere. Why would I be sarcastic? It was a great post and said thanks. Where's the sarcasm? I've never been sarcastic on this board.
I don't know why it says 'edit' in the quote - the system did that -maybe it was too long to quote again. It wasn't me.
well so far...i have had a co2 laser resurfacing, microdermabrasions, acid peels,2 full face thermages, sculptra injections, restyline injections, scar subscion and over 20 ccs of precise injected in tijuana.it might look a little better but not nearly the way i want to look.why all the hi-tech talk when in reality their isnt anything that works that good on scars.when someone finds something that will turn scar tissue into healthy tissue thats when we will find something effective but i dont know if we ever will.
and these docs should quit ripping us off with their treatments that dont work!

I feel realy sorry for you. I also have huge problems with my acne scars and I can not imagine to live with them my hole life. So I tried different things like 3 rounds affirm laser(No results/I think it was not deep enough to make a difference), 2 acid peels(gave me more scars), microdermabrasions(I think this treatment is useless, because it's not strong enough) and creams( guessed right: Did a sh... for me) . Other possibly more effective treatments like fraxel2 or fraxel:repair are not avaible in Germany(I'm afraid to use the ablative old Co2 laser). I can not understand why the german treatments are so backward in compare to the US. So when I summarize treatments, which are avaible here then I have to say that all are not effective. So my hope are the future treatments like Acell(my biggest hope), Renovo(should have been released since long time, but isn't till now) or maybe Intercytex(Vavelta, but the results on acne scars were not very encouraging when we speak about treatment, which can erase scars completely). So please can someone of the veteran poster(kirk, tgan3,hopeseed,anna...), who are lately optimistic in connection with scarless healing, tell us impatient acne scar sufferer, in which year or time frame we can expect real help for our agony. Thanks and sorry for my crappy english!
hey any confirmation on acell's release date? Cause its drawing closer to the dateline...
