thought this might interest some - just shows scientists are working towards some pretty radical things... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2266689/Cancer-victim-growing-new-nose-arm-Businessman-lost-organ-disease-hopes-new-sewn-face.html
wow very cool! they said no scarring, dont get how thats possible??
its cool to wait for something that might be effective...
but it would be even more cool if there was a forum that users were discussing
the science of wound healing and scar removal... like what happening in many other forums
for example body building,hairloss forums...
What do you mean? Something plugged with booster pills? Penis pills sold by men in white jackets? Promises? Wheey protein xyz isolate. Talks nonsense mechanisms? Ignores facts? That is what happens on those forums and any non moderated forum. A lot of the information on the net is conjecture and flawed but on those forums even more so. Its all bro science.
On the other hand if there was a forum as popular as this, BUT that was moderated on topic... Then we are talking.
The problem is, the fog of misinformation. Forums get spammed, go off topic, they are poorly moderated, facts are ignored, and discussions are driven by group think. You could put a a fact that the world is round on the net and they'd think it was flat. But that is the internet.
I'm new to this info on hydrogel. Can someone explain how or if this can help indented or white scars?
The scar could be excised and covered with the hydrogel just like in the trials with mice.
>if you want help, you should donate money to the creators of hydrogel so that they can start testing phase (you must be a millionaire of course). or if you can not do as chuck and do positive things, like making contact Facebook and foundations and magazines for them to put money
You mustn't be a millionaire. That's the beauty of crowd funding. Everyone donates a little and it adds up. Strength in numbers.
chuckstonchew any news from Harmon?

Nothing this week I'm afraid.
Last I spoke to him (which was like last friday I think) his lawyer was in the process of setting up meetings with the Hopkins officials to smooth everything out.
He said he'd update me when progress was made. So I'd say nothing major really happened this week.
Hopefully I'll hear from him this upcoming week!
edit
I say get something started at kickstarter see where it goes.
That is what we are doing.
Indiegogo though.
Is there a link?
It's not up yet.
Dr. Harmon is still working things out with JHU.
Did you mention to him about what mars123 came across? Breakout Labs the foundation funding independent scientists. Although being through JHU i guess it cant be independent.
hi @wentworthwhile - I think you're right - breakoutlabs wouldn't fund something carried out at JH - but I was under the impression that Dr Guoming Sun was going to pursue research independently - am not sure if I've read that right though, @chuckstonchew - is Dr Sun pursuing research on his own or did I get that confused? thanks mars123

He is no long in JHU...
@skinregenerator - 'He {Dr Sun] is no long in JHU...'
True - but from what I read he was interested in setting up his own company and pursuing hydrogel research for skin regeneration - but now I'm wondering if I've read that right? If Dr Sun is indeed doing independent research then breakout labs would fund him

I think someone posted, according his linkedin,he is now at Columbia University... not sure if he is doing independent research though...I am not familiar with breakout lab funding...
Any news from Dr Harmon?
i hate to burst the bubble on this fundraising initiative, but don't you think that if the scientists demonstrated that this hydrogel technique showed real promise there'd be like a world of venture capitalists and investors begging to be a part of this?
rez77 very true which is why ive been thinking that spreading the word is the key here. Getting the right people interested. I figured maybe not enough people know? that could just be my naive view of it all too.
or are you saying maybe there is perhaps no real promise in the research?

trust me brother, if something comes of this, no one would be happier than me, and so I applaud your efforts. But the people to ask would be the docs who performed the experiment. i can't read this whole thread.
if this hydrogel could really promote scarless healing it would FUCKING REVOLUTIONARY --like one of the most significant medical/scientific findings of ALL TIME --and this is why I'm pretty skeptical that it actually works, it would have been mainstreamed, replicated, applied to humans SOMEWHERE in the world a long, long time ago already.
But you know, let see...

If Dr Sun no longer works on this, who would be the best person working on it?Someone said he had been working on this for over 10 years?why did he quit?
