I was just checking the facebook page out.
It say's - "Because the hydrogel contains no drugs to make it work, the Food and Drug Administration would most likely to classify it as a device and it could be approved for use in just a few years."
@wentworthwhile, I know there's an article that says this, 'a few years' i mean, but actually because it's a device, it means it could get approval in a few *months*, not years. The FDA 501k process for devices enables this to literally only take a few months. Dr. Sun said about 3. It should not take a few years. If we get funding and it works, we should have it very soon.

ok cool ill change that....funding & tests!! ASAP
complete stab in the dark i know-but ive emailed oprah
lol... That's great. I was thinking of writing to her myself. If we don't ask we'll never know.
If the hydrogel is a success I hope that it doesn't create another Renovo. That failure really left a bitter taste. Seemed like Ferguson was more interested in the limelight and lining his own pockets. It would be much better if some sort of not-for-profit organisation was setup which could fund further research, like that coming out the Gerecht Lab.
Getting way ahead of myself

could the doctor (the creator of hydrogel) be in the facebook wall and sometimes answer questions on hydrogel? would be a good thing, answering user questions on the hydrogel.
I want to ask some technical questions. would be something really good on his part that the doctor involved in responding facebook.
what of 'take years' to go on sale, is that the tests on mice, pigs and humans, will take years ... and then in fda approval takes months. but tests in animals and humans are going to take a couple of years. I HOPE I'M WRONG, we need hydrogel
all I can say is that once this money and start testing, the years go fast and entertain ourselves waiting for that couple of years seeing pictures of pigs and humans (in testing phase) until it goes on hydrogel sale
@Maldition - Trials won't take years. It is a device. All they have to show is some successful results in pigs. I honestly don't even know if they have to do human trials for device approval. Sun made it seem like all they needed was pig trials. Which definitely won't take years. A few months maybe. Just like the mice tests. Again, we're dealing with a simple medical device here guys, there's nothing about this that should take years (once funding is secured).
And regarding your technical questions, I would imagine that they wouldn't be able to answer any of them as all they know now is that it worked on mice. So they have no knowledge of whether or not it'll work on particular scars or anything like that. Only time will tell!
@wentworthwhile, nice job attempting contact with Oprah. Keep it up. Last year, in the midst of massive frustration due to stagnation and the fact that the army (for some incredibly odd reason I couldn't wrap my head around) wouldn't give JHU funds, I sent Obama a letter asking him to do something. Lol.
Lol.
Facebook isn't really an accurate representation of the hydrogel's demand.
Facebook is a place for people to socialize with their friends. They don't typically want to talk about medical or cosmetic issues that they have. Even 'liking' it might be embarrassing for someone who has some scars they are self conscious about. People don't typically like to show everyone how self conscious they are. Especially not their Facebook friends.
Crowd funding is more anonymous. People can donate money for anything they want in a private, quite manner.
Everyone in the world would like and use something like this, but I don't anticipate loads of Facebook likes.

chuckstonchew lol classic! its funny but its not. I was laughing at myself for emailing oprah but the people who she helps arent usually the ones not asking.

so true. ive always admired/been puzzled by people who can openly show their insecurities. i am
not one of them...not for physical things anyway.
atleast they will be curious and read the page, maybe even come back to check on it, but not 'like' it.
atleast they are aware of it. I assumed people in burn survivor groups were already being open but those groups are private from their friends.
i agree if/once crowd funding went ahead and people new the target amount and could see the funds accumulate(or not) thats what would get this happening.
ok....secret group now created......same name as the page...i can only add people that are on friends list, so if your keen do a search for the name and request to join, and then add any others on your friends list by inviting them if you know any........hmmmmm considering most of us are not open about all this i dont know how this will help get more people in......unless i tell people about it in other groups like i have here.....oh well lets see, might be another dudd
BEST SCENARIO EVER:
Dermaroller followed by Hydrogel ...such a dreaming :/
it is true about many people feeling insecurities of how they will be viewed from others ,thus not liking the page ...but the only way for this to spread out and go ahead would be if people completely overcome them...
hey chuckstonchew whats next? How long did Harmon say he needed to consult his colleagues?
Im a bit impatient lol!
When do you plan to chase him up again?
This is where i think the pressure from high profile people would help. With a "what you have a cure to scarring but arent diong anything with it? heres 5 million dollars DO IT"... or something along those lines
I'm trying to inform people on this messabe board about our FB group:
http://www.healthboards.com/boards/
I think that this message board has a lot of visitors and our hydrogel could be interesting for many visitors on different boards:
-Burns & Injuries
-Skin Problems
-Acne
-Diabetes
-Cancer: Skin
-Hair loss/Alopecia
etc
We could get a lot of new likes of our FB group but I'm not allowed to post anything there, I tried to contact administrator but I haven't received any answer for days, and exactly the same story is with this message board:

lol I am Crystal dagger. I'm the one posted that thread. Anyway, the administrator of that website might not get back to you. I sent him something a long time ago and he didn't respond either. He has said that it's just impossible to get back to everyone seeing that he gets so many messages but at the same time he also says this: "I don't care if people get upset because I don't respond to their e-mails as it's not like I have some kind of personal relationship with them" which I think is kind of stupid.

what else he can do as a user forum?
besides, you must first convert into something very popular hydrogel, after that, it is more likely that the rest is easy.

We've been emailing back and forth daily with updates.
Thus far he's talked to his lawyer, which went very well. His lawyer is on board and is meeting with Hopkins officials.
He's got a small company set up now which he will run the project through.
He was trying to do the initial sign up for a Kickstarter page yesterday but quickly found out they didn't accept Health related projects, so I've got him checking out Indiegogo today.
Moving forward!
