Hi!
I came across this thread about a week ago and have been using ACV for around 4/5 days, early signs are good!
Just a question though; I know the general consensus is to use 50% ACV and 50% water when using it as a toner, but how much should you apply exactly? Just a dab onto a cotton pad or do you soak it fully into the toner and then drench it over your face?
I know that the DKR tells you to use a lot of BP, I am wondering if using a lot of ACV would have similar effects or if the amount doesn't matter as much?
What does everyone do out there?
Thanks!
Hi, so I am hitting my 7th week of 0.1% retin-a I finally see some improvements in certain areas. So I am Asian and my next big problem is definitely the hyperpigmentation. As directed I use retin-a nightly and I was wondering if I can start using ACV with my regimen.
Currently AM I use cetaphil gentle skin cleanser and moisturize(its winter so I don't get much sunlight or any at all anyways so I am not using sunscreen yet) and PM I use the Cetaphil cleanser again and apply my retin-a and sleep. And a daily 100mg doxycycline antibiotic (my 3rd prescription... so will have taken it for almost 90 days soon and its my last one so then I will be off it)
If someone with good knowledge or experience please tell me if ACV will affect or inhibit my retin-a from working? Should I start using ACV now or wait for my predetermined 12 full weeks of retin-a? I have never used a toner before... so do I use it then moisturize or vice versa? How should my regimen look like? I really dislike these red marks it's gross and like most people... the appearance just makes it look like I have a lot of acne right now.
Sooo I've been using ACV for about...2 - 2.5 months and havent really seen any improvements. I usually just put it on before I go to bed. Is that not enough? should I be doing it more? It's kind of hard being in school, but I could work it out...
Actually, I've had more/worse breakouts since I started using this it seems, but I havent stopped because I have a feelng some if it is caused by my snowboard helmet/goggels and the typical breakout around "that time of the month" that is making it seem so horrible...although I will say I've noticed less oil.
Hey.
I'm wondering whether to stop using apple cider vinegar or not. I've been using it for about 8 days now. I use organic apple cider vinegar, and I drink about three teaspoons a day in water, with a bit of honey. I also use a mixture of acv, honey, and chamomile tea that I found online to wash my face with. At first I thought acv was the miracle cure that the internet promised it to be, my skin looked clearer and healthier, but in the past three days, my skin has been progressively worsening, although I've altered nothing in my regimen (which includes diet). I'm just breaking out more. The focus of the break-outs shifted from my face itself to my neck, which is an improvement of sorts I guess, but now the traditional problem areas on my face are breaking out again too, and things are now officially worse than they were before I started the acv.
I have an identical twin (=identical DNA) who doesn't really seem to suffer from acne at all. I'm finally treating myself for a fungal sinus infection that I've had for the past year, with a variety of different herbal supplements, and that seems to be progressing more successfully than the acne treatment. I feel that the sinus infection is causing the acne, since the fungus produces toxins that my body disposes of through the face. So maybe just treating the sinus infection helped clear my skin initially (I started both treatments at the same time), and now the acv is just screwing me.
But I also read that initial breakouts are possible or likely with acv, and I'm wondering if maybe I'll see major improvement by just slugging through. I'm wondering if anyone on this site, anyone reading this, used acv and went through a similar process - acne got worse around the end of the first week, but then got progressively better. Or if other people used acv, and it just made their skin worse period, regardless of the duration of treatment. Please, let me know about your experiences with acv.
I love how ACV makes my skin supersmooth.
I have quite severe body acne. I've been on Heinz ACV ( I can't find Bragg or raw ACV here) topically and orally for 2 weeks. I had a bad breakout ( tiny whiteheads, big red pimples) on the 1st week which is more likely to be PMS. I started to see a considerable improvement at the end of 2nd week. Zits're flattened and redmarks are fading.
How i've used AVC:
6 tablespoons a day ( mixed with green tea and honey)
Exfoliate my skin with diluted ACV and bath gloves 2x a day then rinse it off
Apply undiluted ACV onto zits and redmarks after shower.
Wipe off the sweat and discharged oil with ACV toner
Results:
I started to see a considerable improvement at the end of 2nd week. Zits're flattened and redmarks are fading.
My skin is supersmooth and glowy. I can't help touching it
I gain appetite back and sleep better.
Drawback:
ACV does not reduce my oil production.
Skin are sensitive to sunlight ( it increased redness when exposed to sunlight)
Photos will be posted if requested
I just started using ACV yesterday (17.04.2010). I'm drinking it twice a day with water and honey (about 3 tablespoons each time). At this point I'm not planning to use it topically for fear that it may do more harm than good.
I do not enjoy the smell/taste at all, but hopefully I can stick with it. *fingers crossed* I'll update in a few weeks.
My chest on day 1
My back on day 1
My chest on day 8
My back on day 8
My chest on day 19
My back on day 19
Note: My chest are clear from zits on day 19. I only have to deal with redmarks. I still have new zits on my back ( around 5 ) but they dried pretty quick. It's extremely hot in my place ( 36 *C). I sweat a lot which slows down the treatment progress. I hope i wont have more breakout the end of week 3.
After 3 days using ACV, i have lots of tiny whiteheads, like goosebumps on my chest and back. I popped them out and applied ACV ( neat) to them. They got swollen and left redmarks but healed quick. Otherwise, it would take longer to clear them up.
Whatever treatment you re on, give it at least 2 months to see results. I was on and off Minocycline and Vitamins for acne on my face for almost 2 years and it tooks 2 - 3 months to clear up my face each time. But acne came back once i stopped taking Mino so i gave up on it. I don't want to build up antibiotics in my body.
I used Clean & Clear toner on my face before which was good but now i replace it with ACV toner. It's cheaper and works better.
Well, it's all for this week. Wish me luck. I'll update more pics on week 3. Good luck, you guys!!!
I've mixing ACV, TTO and diluting it with lemon juice instead of water, to see if i can lighten and fade these last few stubborn red marks. Not sure if it's going to work, but it sure does make your skin feel incredibly smooth. It's like you've had a facial*.
*not in the porno sense.
i think it def. would mine arent huge but i have two really red ones and they are def. fading .. my acne is mild now .. but i am also 19 it was like 4 years ago.
Its true about scars fading i had some surgery's done and they left long evil red purple dark scars but i started the lemon juice diet plus added about 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to the jug and i started noticing color changes in my scars also the numbness that was there from the surgery is hardly noticeable which means more blood flow and the blood blockages is gone too i had some really bad acne after using proactive once and used apple cider vinegar 100% proof which i had to go to k town to get from an Asian store but it def worked i also noticed scars diminishing and a slight difference in sweating . I usually step outside on a warm day and bam my face starts beading up with sweat but it seemed alot less since i used the apple cider vinegar one thing to be aware of is something called the healing crisis when you fast on the lemon juice diet or any type of fasting your body rebuilds its cells into new ones without toxins so naturally you will feel the toxins in your blood stream so you may want to look at this page to see some things that may happen and are very normal some people have even had organ pains . I had gallbladder pains but found out that when you have a thyroid problem ,which was mainly a reason for my acne , the gallbladder is one area where toxins drain to so it was natural for me to get pains since fasting is a healing process for your body .
here is the site FYI
What do you guys think of a 50/50 combo of ACV and Honey?
Hey interesting one.
typically is only with green tea.
Since ACV have tendency to over dry skin i am thinking if honey can be mix with that would be great.
While cleaning, it moisturizes.
I have got a quesiton i went to the Vinegar(as a tropical) review website: http://www.acne.org/vinegar-as-a-topical-r...s/30/page2.html
I saw few ppl with terrible outbreak from ACV after using it for sometime.
I am really scare. Could anyone please explain this?? Please.
Cos we only see ppl say how things got worsen but we duno whats is the reall thing behind it. I dun mind acne now, but what they mentioned was acne pimple which they dun normally have.
I am belwilderd thinking is it their face bacteria pH was so used to the tropical rememdy that the evil bacteria got used and immuned to it. If thats the case i dont even dare to think of the long term consequences.
OR i am thinking could it be due to the over dryingness which normall their skin is oily instead thus the pimple popping out is of diffferent pattern also which is why they claim that the pimple they outbreak with is not they usually get?
Please help. 🙁
There are only 2 brands available where I live heinz(y'know the ketchup brand) and kirkland(costco brand) I am a little uncertai as to which to use, but I have been trying to get a firm handle on my breakouts. They are really on & off now because of the humidity being so ridiculous right now. About a week ago I had near perfect skin, now I'm getting these HUGE pimples (whiteheads) all pver my forehead and my chin has a cystic pimple on it (OOOOWWW) and I am REALLY looking forward to trying this out. My mom just went to buy sme (and the bottles they sell are like 4 litre jugs, so it will probably last. As for a drink...I might try that too I have heard about it being great in weightloss because it detoxes the system (I know a lot of people throw that around as a way to sell products) but I am totally serious, I have raped the internet of all info I could possibly dig up on it and it seems too work. I have heard using 2 tbsp diluted in water is good. And yes, drink with a straw.
I have both Bragg's and Heinz.
Do not use Heinz, it hasn't done anything for me. I only bought Bragg's 2 weeks ago and my red marks have reduced significantly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought Heinz for $2.09 CAD and Bragg's for $4.62 CAD.
You can find Bragg's in 'nutrition house' in Canada. Just ask the employee, they store it in shelves so yeah a teensy hard to find.
It tastes absolutely horrible with water, but I drink it anyway.
You guys say to swish with baking soda + water o.o What does that taste like?!
So I swish around, then spit out and rinse with more water right?
Also, I'm going to try ACV with apple juice. what kind of apple juice should i use? from concentrate? or organic? or something.....? thanks
