I have noticed I haven't broken out like crazy after wearing Bare Minerals recently. I mean, I had some small pimples, but nothing like before. I am hoping it is because I am wearing BM Matte under it and then the regular (pimple causing) BM on top for the color. BM Matte is too orange.
Quick info on my skin care
Face
Neutrogena sensitive face moisturizer
DHC cleansing oil for makeup removing
Water to take sebum off
SkinCeuticals phyto corrective gel (Mixed in with moisturizer at night)
Makeup
Bare Minerals Matte + Bare Minerals original
Medication
Generic Priolsec (For stomach issues)
Spironolactone (For oily skin)
Orthotricyclen (To skip periods and avoid the hormonal acne that comes with it)
Hi acnejean! In your thread you said stay away from baked goods. I found a gluten free/wheat free/dairy free bread in the supermarket today and brought it - should I stay clear of it and throw it?
I was hoping it would be ok 🙁
Depends.. most breads have high G.I which means it'll convert into sugar fast. Spiked sugar levels are not good for the skin. In my opinion, I have tried a lot of gluten free breads and I can't just eat 1-2 pieces. Their GI is too high to where my brain wants more. Don't throw it out. I'd eat it, just moderate.
Your story is so inspiring, acnejean.
But it mustve been so hard and restricting to live life like that. I really sympathize with you ,and wish you success.
I am currently just starting to get....acne. Ill admit, I never have cystic acne. More like papules and pustules. But it was devastating when it got bad.
So I decided to adjust my diet. And after reading many articles, and studying how blood tyoe affects diet (I am type O) I am starting a no dairy, little gluten diet. Im drinknig mroe water, opting to exercise and eat more veggies for more natrual vitamins.
I may add Im 12, and my parents are divorced, and theres 7p eople at each house. So its incredibly hard to eat by that, when you have 14 other people that dont.

Thank you for the advice! I tried some, well actually I ate the whole loaf  and the next day I had new pimples, so I guess I'll be having no more of that!

You know, overeating is a reason you could be breaking out. I'll find the information why. I think it is in the main page of this log. It causes stress on the body I think.
Bioderma makeup remover is perfection! The only draw back is the price, ugh. It is magical for taking off makeup and never breaks me out.
I was looking at old photos from like 2009 and it made me sad. I had some pinkness on my face, but it wasn't as reactive as it is now. I ruined my skin by those harsh chemical peels. I truly regret it. I don't know how to redo the damage I did in 2010. On the bright side, I am no longer getting active acne. I do however deal with clogged pores on my legs and thanks to the Salux wash cloth, they are under control. You can buy it for cheap on Amazon and it is worth it. I would never use it to exfoliate my face though.
Yeah.. right now, my main gripe is the redness and rosacea in my skin. Nothing helps.
I ordered grape seed extract. I really don't expect it to do much, but it shouldn't hurt... It is 100 mg caps.
I have Garden of Life Super Seed Beyond Fiber coming in the mail.
"Includes ingredients specifically chosen for their ability to support normal gut flora balance, regular bowel function, and overall health"
Can't say if it will help my skin directly, but if I'm putting good things in my body, it should benefit something.

I did an egg mask + honey. I did it a couple times in the past. I swore the next day my acne scars looked better, but you never know for sure.
After I washed it off, I applied avocado oil. Supposedly, it is good for your skin because it plumps it up and builds collagen. I used to dabble in oils in the past, but stopped because it's really hard to make them work. I made the silly mistake of wearing it under my makeup. Pretty gross thinking about it now. The thing I like about oils is that you don't feel the tightness or dryness you get from moisturizers. Well, that's what I experience from moisturizers, anyways.
Hopefully the avocado oil doesn't make my skin freak out .

I read your post about the Bioderma and decided to buy it myself. It really is amazing with taking off makeup! And I can agree with you that chemical peels are very damaging in the long run. My pores and skin structure are never the same.
Thanks for continually updating this blog. I have this strange feeling we are nearly identical, and have the same triggers for acne. I don't know if I can be as disciplined as you tho, lol. What do you eat? I'm finding it hard to be creative and find enough time to cook with a vegan diet.
You have beautiful skin btw! It's my goal lol.

Glad it worked out well for you.
My inbox gets flooded with that question and I never answer it because everyone is different. I list what I avoid on my main entry, so that should shape something. My diet isn't the best when it comes to selection, but it works for me. I am okay eating the same thing every day or so. If I were to give a main point of my diet, it would be brown rice. Everything can be made into brown rice. (bread, pasta, crackers..etc and it won't make your blood sugar rise as greatly as white flour products would.)
Ya I bet you get asked that a lot, and yes everyone is different. I really want to get the skin scratch allergy test, but I think it is about 800 bucks 🙁 Thank you for answering! that helps a lot.
Are you serious??! Mine was free by my insurance and I have poor people insurance lol. Are you sure that's really the cost if you have insurance or are you just looking up online for tests?
I picked up some health food books from Amazon yesterday.
"The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet" and "The pH Miracle: Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health". I doubt I'll do the Paleo diet, always been interested in the pH diet. I do think the acid/alkaline for food rings true especially if you want to get healthy.

Well, I've only looked online at what the allergy skin test would cost. From the clinics that I've looked at, it says that I need an ok from my doctor in order for them to do it. I'm seeing my derm next week and maybe I can ask him about how that might work.
That would be interesting to read those books. I've thought about doing the paleo diet, but I don't think it will work for me.
Oh I have a question about neem oil, cause I remember reading that you use it. How do you apply it? directly to pimple/skin? do you spot treat or have you ever used it all over? It smells awful lol
Odd. I am breaking out around my mouth. Doubt it is my toothpaste because I am on my last drop of this giant tube! Maybe my hormones or even my chapstick.. ugh.
I had a GI doctor stick a camera into my stomach. I have 2 small ulcers. It could be connected to the antibiotics. It was thought that I had gastritis, but then the camera showed much more. The draw backs of antibiotics..

Towels and clothes? I never got it on them since I use such a tiny amount. For my skin, I live off of q-tips and cotton face pads. You don't have to worry about bacteria from towels or anything.

I doubt this will do much for my skin, but I started taking Whole Food's 365 multi-vitamin. It has biotin, so I wonder if it will break me out. Ahh. Not a lot in it though.
I also have Murad's Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture coming in the mail. Been using samples of it slowly on my skin to see if it breaks me out. Doesn't seem to. I currently use Neutrogena's moisturizer for under makeup, but need something heavier for nighttime.
The only recent break outs I had were from my pms.
