Hey! This is what I found on some websites regarding your cleanser: "Skinceuticals Clarifying Cleanser NEW FROM SKINCEUTICALS! Specifically formulated for acne-prone skin, SkinCeuticals Clarifying Cleanser combines salicylic acid, an FDA approved acne treatment, with the exfoliating powers of glycolic and mandelic acids to unclog pores and help improve the appearance of problematic skin. Along with powerful AHA and BHA ingredients, this cleanser also includes smoothly rounded microbeads to gently slough off dead skin cells and cellular debris."

Also, how did the roobios tea and mask work for that papule?

Oh thats cool! I didnt know that

It worked so so. Is drying up but it still looks ugly. I have another zit along my lipline and another one under my nose 🙁 I also have a zit on my earlobe!

Haha one on your earlobe - what a silly place for it to be!! I just wanted to remind you that when you first feel them coming up, like you know they are starting to be active, that is the very best time to either ice them, if you love that method, or use the tip of your washcloth dipped in warm water and hold it on the zit, re-dip, etc. for around 15 minutes. Then you do your regular routine. I have found that warm water method for me takes away most of the inflammation and redness, then I just use my regular routine and spot treat with tto. I get the best results when I do it as close to the time it decides to make itself known on my skin! :ninja:

I could give that a go except I will use a hot roobios tea bag wrapped around a paper towel instead

Yay! That sounds great! I have experimented through the years and for me I love the warm, but I know others love the icing. So as soon as I notice something coming up, since I never know what it will be lol, I just grab the cup of warm water and begin. Usually I only need to do it once at night, but sometimes I've needed it two days in a row, two times per day. But they just go away so much quicker, settle down faster, and then my tto does the job. Since you love your products, it's easy to go right into your routine. Hopefully it will help using the roobios!

Last night, I slept with my skinceuticals clay mask on. I only put it on my lipline pimples since thats the only spot I had inflamed acne. I washed my face all over again and noticed I have a new pimple on my jawline and I applied the clay maks there. I applied the skinceuticals mask all over again to my problem areas including the pimple on my earlobe  One of the zits on my lipline is completely flattened thanks to my hot tea compress and this mask :) Another zit, the one I said is below my nose hasnt turned into a huge yellowhead and hopefully with the use of this mask, I will prevent that from happening. Last but not least, I am gonna apply my skinceuticals mask to the blackheads on my nose and then I am gonna go to sleep. Im on a vacation and I need to catch up on some beauty rest ;)

Hmmm You might be able to get very good results using the hot tea compress like I use a hot water compress instead of icing. For some reason for me, the icing settles the spot for a couple of hours, then it reflares. When I use the hot compress, it continually diminishes in size, redness, being angry, and goes away a lot quicker. I wonder why but I guess it's just different people react differently to regimens so icing works for some and heat for others.

Anyway, since the hot tea compress worked for you last night, when you notice the first sign of a spot coming up, THAT is the time to use the hot tea bag. (That is, if you have the time to do it of course lol.) I would have to say the sooner I can get a hot water compress on it, the more likely it is to just go down and clear up quickly. Also as you've seen, after the hot tea bag, you simply do your regular routine, then spot treat with your fav, and it works well! So you can do that as your little experiment to see if it works on each of your new spots and let us all know! Now if you only had six hands to hold those tea bags on your spots lol

I use the corner of a washcloth in hot water, re-dipping as necessary, for approximately 15-20 minutes. You use a tea bag. How do you keep the tea bag warm for 15 minutes? Do you simply give it a zap in the micro or keep a cup of hot water that you dip it into?

It is interesting how ice and heat seem to get different results for people. I have had luck with both - but I mostly ice. Warm compresses sometimes make a spot go away more quickly for me, but it always makes it redder and more swollen right after I do it (so I can't do it before I go to work in the morning, but I can ice). I do have pretty good results with Zeno though - which also uses heat (but a higher, more directed dose of heat). It also leaves my skin redder for awhile though.

Yesterday my dad was annoying me! I was talking about how my blackheads and clogged pores are horrible and really noticeable. He kept talking about steaming my faec and how it will work. He insisted it will work. I think he imagining things because that doesnt work. It just makes it worse. He has clogged pores and blackheads and it hasnt many any difference in his skin but he thinks it has.

My mom always tells me to do stupid things she reads in magazines, like they're the word of god. When I say no, she acts like I don't want my acne to go away and am not even trying. :wall:

I've been wondering if you had a thermometer, if you could heat water to the temperature a Zeno uses. Is it, like, 105F or something? To make the heat last 2 1/2 minutes you might need to get it a little hotter, though. I was thinking of using a wash cloth to apply the water. Well, I just went to the Zeno site, and they make it sound a lot more complicated, but maybe this could be a rough way to do it.

Edit: Actually, I have a large cyst in a non-sensitive area. Maybe I'll try it out on it and report back.

Of course heat works for you and not cold because you are my org mom and we have the same genetic make up

I will most definitely let you know if it works on most of my new pimples

Ive tried that wash cloth thing. It doesnt work for me. The washcloth doesnt even stay hot for five minutes no matter how hot I turn on the facet. I dont know why =/

What I do is I fill a relatively hot glass of water in a glass, I add the tea bag, heat it in the microwave for a minute and then when the teabag gets just warm I keep redipping it in the hot glass

Yeah my pimples get more red and swollen afterwards too but it goes away fairly quickly. I find the hot compress very soothing. I also cannot stand being cold which is another reason I dont use cold compresses

That reminds me, I never did get around to buying a zeno

The wash cloth has a lot of surface area for the water to evaporate off of, which cools it down quickly. Like how sweating cools you down.

What do you mean by the part I bolded? Can you please paraphrase

Say you have a hot, wet washcloth. You lay it out flat on a counter. It gets cold quickly, because all that warm water is exposed to air. When water evaporates it takes the energy of the heat and transfers it to the air. (One wash cloth is very small compared to a room, so you can't really feel it.)

Take that same wash cloth (still hot and wet) and fold it. When you unfold it, the inside is still warm, even if the outside cooled. That's because the water on the inside of the wash cloth wasn't exposed to air (as much), so it couldn't evaporate and transfer its heat to the air.

Surface area is just how much space is on the outside of something. Your open hand has more surface area than your fist, because you curled your fingers under, and you are no longer exposing them to the outside.

Heh, did that make it better or worse?

I totally agree with your comments. Immediately after the hot compress my skin looks redder, even around the spot. However, about 30 minutes later, the spot seems to become less active, less angry/annoyed, less inflamed, less everything bad. It just seems to settle down. Then of course I go into my regular routine. If I absolutely needed to do something in the morning, I would do it while I'm eating before my shower. At night of course, it's not a hassle timewise.

I bought the Zeno to try and it does work on some types of pimples, just like it says. But I have found it seems to leave a redder mark afterwards, so more PIH. Also, it doesn't seem to just fade away like when I use the warm water compress. It's interesting bc I figured the warm water compress is like the Zeno in a way, except not as hot and I can use the compress 15-20 minutes. It's just so fascinating how dif people respond differently to the same products.

Yeah and I wouldnt do it right before work. As you said, Id do it like thirty minutes to an hour before I leave the house

I decided not to buy the zeno based on what people are saying about it. Kim, are you saying its mainly for people who get a zit every once in a blue moon, not people like me who get at least a few new pimples a day? It seems like you and I have similar reactions to products Melanie; thats another reason Im deciding to listen to you and not buy the zeno 😆

See that's exactly what I was thinking too! Zeno uses a precise temperature for 2.5 minutes, up to 3 times per spot. I've used Zeno and it does work for some types of pimples but not others. BUT, I also think Zeno leaves me with a darker PIH when the spot heals. I've found the hot water seems to do a better job and was wondering if it's because I can use it for a longer period of time right when the spot FIRST makes itself known lol versus the 2.5 minutes Zeno allows. I take a coffee mug that I don't use for coffee lol, put water in it, micro for 2 minutes so it's really HOT, then place it on a towel so I don't spill any on me. I dip only the corner of a washcloth very slightly into the hot water, squeeze quickly, then apply to the spot until the corner cools. Re-dip, squeeze, apply, etc. until the cup of hot water cools. This takes approx 15 - 20 minutes. I'm never using the entire washcloth or my hands would get all pruney and it would be dripping all over the place. So, in essence, it is kind of like the Zeno whereas I'm only using a small piece of the washcloth! Then I follow with whatever regimen I'm doing either AM or PM but I like to use a dab of tea tree oil and even a little jojoba right after. Also, you can add some sea salt to the water as well. Good luck with that cyst!

Eeek two minutes in the microwave! Im worried if when I removed the mug from the microwave, it would be so hot Id drop the mug and get another second degree burn. I dont need anymore of those! The one on my arm has been there for like six or seven weeks and it still looks dark

On a positive note, the zit on the corner of my lip has formed a scab which is soon gonna fall off  and the other zit below my nose didnt form into a yellowhead and I  it wont.

haha I was just reading what I posted to see if it answered what you said. Yes the water is very hot BUT I don't fill the mug and it has a cool handle so it's never been a problem for me. If it's a problem for you, of course don't do it. BUT I was trying to explain how the water stays hot for me, and how I only use the corner so it works well. That sounds like a good way to do the tea bag the way you do it. Plus, it's probably very soothing with the added benefits of the tea.

The Zeno I think would be mainly for people who only get the occasional pimple like me. Also, it's only good for certain types of spots and not all of them. So you have been getting less and less for sure, but each time you use it on a spot, that counts down the number of times the tip has been used. Each tip (cartridge) gets a certain amount of uses. So say you bought the cartridge that has 50 uses. If you had 5 pimples to treat, that's already 5 times you used the cartridge in one day, having 45 uses left. So if you have a number of them to treat daily, it would add up and you'd have to go buy another cartridge. They are not cheap either!

I think even if I didnt fill the mug all the way, the handle would still be hot. To each her own my friend

WOW, that is expensive! I dont have that kind of money! Im living on a low income

Definitely! That's why the tea bag method works the best for you. PLUS, if you worry when you are taking the mug outta the micro, you might shake a little, thereby creating the spill situation! I think that tea bag is a wonderful approach to your skin. Let us know how it continues to work for you.

Yes, it's one thing to buy the Zeno and quite another to continue to have to purchase new cartridges. Read the website then go online to see places that sell it and the extra cartridge tip prices. It's not cheap at all my dear!
