one question about your little removal method with the surgical tweezers. so if its a white head and i remove the top layer, do i just let the yellow/white puss sit there? should i apply alcohol right after?

I may have to post a sample of when I do it. But, if it is a white head and you have weighed the pros and cons of trying to manually remove the pimple, you take the surgical tweezers and pierce and remove as little skin as possible and let the puss leak out. The blood pressure in the body should push it out on its own. This eliminates infection and pushing any of the puss back in the skin deeper. When it scabs, just wash face or shower as normal and this should level out the spot where the pimple was and it should be healed quickly and with no scar.

Nice method of extraction, but i'd suggest applying a mild topical anti-biotic or perhaps a dab of diluted Tea Tree Oil post purging. You need to avoid the spread of infection, leaving an open wound is careless.

Not disagreeing but, I have found that many many times when I applied something like neosporin, tea tree oil, or any other infection preventer, I just got more puss in that region and another pimple would return in the same spot. Like, if the spot scabbed over, their would be a pimple form under the scab and I would be back at square one. I think it depends on the skin chemistry in people but applying nothing for at least 24 hours is what I recommend.

My Plastic Surgeon told me (he gave me some needles) after that I used insulin needles, anyway poke the head then apply hydrogen peroxide to it on a q-tip after. Then leave it overnight. No scar and the HP gets into it and for he most part it goes away. You can use BP on it in the morning but don't touch it again until morning.

This is the first I've heard of orange juice causing acne? What is up with that?

well actually, ever since i started mixing psyllium husk wit OJ just to make it taste better, i got a couple of cysts. so i ceased that for awhile, and none since. maybe its just my mind playing games also. it seems the more i learn, the more causes me problems, and more refrainments...maybe i should know anything lol :(

actually i gots a question regarding air drying. is that simply just letting the water sit on ur face and letting it dry?

also, i shower in the morning, sometimes after school or workout, which is around 6ish, and at night. if i do wut u do, should i just do dat 2 or 3 times?

also the vaseline boxy complexion thing, can i find that at local markets?

i like ur regimen, its cool...for now =D

Yeah, try to air dry it. Depending on the humidity in your room/house/place it shouldn't take that long. Try to avoid placing any towels or napkins on your face.

When you shower you should only clean it with a cleaner once. The other 2 or 3 times just wash everything except your face with soap or whatever you use. Too much soap on the face leads to overdrying and this leads to skin irritiation which sometimes leads to breakouts.

I am not positive about the Vaseline. I used to use Neutrogena vitamin cream treatment even before Vaseline. It got great reviews and even is one of the top products reviewed on this site. For some reason, Neutrogena discontinued it and lots of people got dissapointed. It might be a conspiracy as far as I'm concerned as it seems the best products get discontinued and it is much easier to find the worst products.

Thanks.

Well, I can't agree based on my experience. A person at the department store also told me that my face was dry when I was in high school and I clearly had oil all over my face. That salesperson set me back a couple of years because of her terrible acne product recommendations. Good luck.

500th Post

-After showering, I air dry. I use BP Neutrogena OTS treatment to any pimple again (I will tell in Chapter 4 how to properly remove a pimple). I then use Vaseline Healthy Body Complexion Body Lotion to the entire face. This successfully removes scars and red marks over time. My thinking on this is that I want to be using a lotion that helps moisturize, but at the same time helps fade the red marks. I go into this feeling this is a battle and I have to keep fading away the old blemishes in case I get more acne.

hey, wondering also, so u apply the BP and let dry or something then put on that vaseline?

That's the thing. I saw Dan puts BP and then moisturizer on top of it. I don't do that. When I have pimples I apply BP (lots of BP continuously) and then apply moisturizer everywhere else. I don't put one on top of the other. I don't use Dan's BP, I use Neutrogena's and it dries immediately - at least for me.

iic, its cuz like my red marks are overlapped by active zits. so if i were to do this stuff, should i concentrate on getting rid of the actives first or something? arent the spots where applied bp is the parts thats gonna dry and need moisturizer?

thx

If I were you and if you have pretty mild to moderate acne (the regular pimples and few pustules), I would drown the active pimples you have now with BP continuously for a few days. They should go down some. Apply moisturizer on places of your face that aren't active. After the acne areas dry up and you see the pimples start to decrease in size or improve in some way then apply a little moisturizer to minimize drying. Sometimes you have to be willing to take the flaking and drying that occurs for a few days. The goal should be to do your best to eliminate oil from acne areas so that those areas can heal up properly. Sometimes when I have bad pimples, I dry it out so bad, that the skin basically falls off in layers. This does absolutely no scarring and the pimple starts to go down gradually and sometimes it pops automatically and then I use my method of "24 hours". The key is preventing scarring. Good luck!

Shampoo has Sodium Lauryl Sulfates in it , which causes breakouts.

What is your opinion on SHampoo? Do you use regular shampoo with SLS ? How often?

Thanks.

One of my relatives is a professional hair stylist so this is what I recommend. You should use a combination of shampoos so your hair doesn't get buildup from using just one and dependent on that one. Also, using the same shampoo over and over is not very healthy for the hair itself. I use the following:

-Head & Shoulders Intensive Care Shampoo (Comes in a dark blue container and is good for removing flakes and debris that leads to dandruff)

-Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Oil Shampoo (Pretty expensive; you can't find it in most stores; I get mine for free from my relatives's hair salon; good for removing all impurities in the scalp; I use it when I start to get pimples on the scalp; If used correctly, clears scalp after 3-4 days of all 'scalp acne')

-Paul Mitchell Conditioner (Pretty expensive; moisturizes scalp so that it doesn't dry out and start flaking)

-Paul Mitchell Moisturizing spray (Used rarely; depends on haircut and environmental conditions)

Bottom line: I try to alternate shampoos either every other day or 2:2:1:2

P.S. By breakouts, do you mean on your scalp or on your face? I don't know why it would break out your face because you aren't supposed to let the shampoo touch your face. Good luck.

Well, ,I don't know for sure if shampooing can cause the face to break out but I do know that Sodium Lauryl Sulfates cause acne and it's in most shampoo and toothpastes. ALso, ,I know some people shampoo daily and some people can go for months. I was a high school teacher (had perfect skin for most of the time I taught) and there was this one kid with severe acne and when I got close to him to check on his work, I could always smell soap. BUt I never noticed any overly soapy smell to the other kids. Many of the girls I taught would talk about their hair all the time with me (I'm female) and they said they didn't wash their hair for weeks sometimes months and they had perfect skin.

I first got my acne around my hairline on forehead and temples, later as a teen on the neck and back). Started with acne at around 10 yrs old jjust about the time my hair started getting oily and had to start shampoong daily. Some folks zits are concentrated around their mouths chin and cheeks. So, just wondering if there is a SLS shampoo / toothpaste Zit connection.

Toothpaste also has Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Interestingly, there are some toothpastes that are SLS free because for people with canker sores in the mouth. Canker sores look just like zits but their inside the mouth. ANyway, ,thanks for your reply. Just curious.

However, if you body is somehow able to create acne after Accutane, then you are in some bad shape as the acne usually comes back worse than ever before.

Regimen Elaboration 1: Drinks

After many questions on drinks, here I go:

First if you really want to narrow down what drinks can cause you to breakout, you will need to set some type of control to based on (some common denominator to go off on in order to eliminate the acne aggravating drinks). I currently drink water and milk mainly to stay consistent with my bodybuilding and to stay consistent with my regimen. But, you can go off and try fruit drinks. I drink only apple juice. As in previous post's I stay away from citrus drinks because of their acidity and their consistency at producing pustules and cysts along my jaw and neck.

Another drink you should stay away from is anything with caffeine. I have seen lots of acne sufferers with mild to moderate acne drink loads of coffee in order to stay awake. As much as I want to drink this in the morning in order to stay awake during meetings and at my desk, I refuse it. Caffeine leads to the destruction of your bone infrastructure. It eats away at it little by little. It also stains your teeth horribly. For some people it also leads to terrible breakouts. This may be from the caffeine or the sugar most people add to their coffee. The same goes with tea or any other variation of this drink.

Red bull and other energy drinks are just as bad. I used to drink Red Bull in college before exams to stay awake because the pros and cons favored doing well on a test with likely breakouts the next week from drinking Red Bull.

In the end, you should weigh the pros and cons of what you are drinking and why you are drinking it. If you really want to eliminate your mild to moderate acne, you should start by drinking just water for a couple of weeks and see if you skin improves. If it does, then you may be on the road to recovery.

I don't disagree with that at all and I must try it, maybe next week when I get destroyed camping. My alcoholic drinks (although they go entirely against my regimen because of their contents but I am willing to pay the price and know the consequences so my breakout is no surprise) are screwdrivers, long islands, and 40's.

-I love screwdrivers because the orange juice makes them taste healthy.

-Long islands are my favorite and all my friends know about it. Long islands and me go hand in hand when it comes to getting destroyed. I usually pass out and go crazy.

-40's because of Boyz in the Hood. I love how Ice Cube carries it around everywhere he goes. Also the movie Kids is awesome too. When I carry a 40, everyone bows down - literally. You don't see many guys/girls carry a couple of 40's to a frat party in college. LOL.

Overall Vodka is my favorite alcohol, Steel Reserve is my favorite hard beer, and Corona is my favorite beer.

or that you get yearly tetnus shots....

i actually physically shuddered when i read this. This borders on self mutilation and REALLY goes against the no picking notion that i actually very much agree with.

Yeah, I did it for one night only several years ago. I was so mad at myself for months. I thought it would result in a nasty scar on my chin. Somehow, I was able to heal after a year and now there is no more scar. I guess I was lucky or maybe I performed some crazy surgery? Who knows. I do not recommend doing this as I was in some crazy pain while doing it and was tearing up pretty bad from it. I learned my lesson after the 1 time I did it and stopped immediately after that along with making a regimen to what it is today. There are however many people who do this to themselves on a regular basis. I can't offer any advice other than to just stop. For some people, they have reached a point of no return and this is sad.

Did anyone ever read his 500th post? It was long. I didn't actually read it because I had to clean the guest bathroom and vaccuum. So I really shouldn't comment. But....

Whenever he mentions, "Bring it on," or whatever I kept thinking, "Would this work on boobs?"

I'm gonna try it. I'll let you all know.

LOL, he kept saying he would look in the mirror when he had a breakout and say, "Bring it on," or something like that. To kind of talk the acne out and get it over with.

Hence, my idea with the boobs.
