Amara: Oh yes, they definitely have more sheep...At the moment our climate is awful. I hate the cold weather. I live for the easy breezy warm evenings where I can go for strolls in my shorts and get lost in it. The cold weather just freezes my poor limbs off.
Maybe get some dry shampoo if you overdo it with the oil? Or try to just put it in your ends if you're worried about being too oily. I don't think your roots would even need it, unless you have naturally dry hair.
Not the most flattering image but that's as long as I've been able to get it, and sometimes it curls up a bit more than this. I think once it's grown out a bit more and I keep cutting the ends, it might eventually decide to stop being crap. It's also a bit fluffy. I definitely suit longer hair though, makes my face look smaller...
Amara, you look stunning in your avatar picture! I wish my hair would curl like that again.
Abi: I just checked my elbows.
I am relieved to find that they are not dry and gross. Surprisingly.
My hair is so crusty right now, I went for a walk today while it was windy and it dried really strangely.
Be strong, Abi. Remember we'll hold you accountable if you chop!
Thats right Miss Birmingham, no scissor-happy escapade for you!
Gutterflower yes that is a cute picture of yourself. You are just so hugable with the sweet face and the stuffed animals
)
That is about how long I can get my hair as well. Youre a bit ahead of me but Im still sticking to it.
I tried the moroccan oil and it does seem to work pretty well, I havent styled my hair yet as its still wet but will let you all know how it turns out for me. If it can do anything to combat this humidity Ill be really happy.
I'll ask my sister to take a photo of how far down my back my hair falls, then at christmas I'll take a photo again and hopefully do a little success party dance!
I love that photo! You're lucky that you suit short hair too.
Amara, let us know how you get on with Moroccan Oil. I stayed at my parent's house last night and forgot my Moroccan, had to use an old random serum. My hair is now greasy and heavy looking at the ends, like it hasn't quite dried properly. Definitely a convert, those North Africans know how to tame wild hair

I bought some oil today (like a boss) and got my hair trimmed and thinned, finally. The lady was like "Holy crap, you have quite an impressive head of hair" as she thinned it out. I also love it when they don't style it afterwards and it turns into a sheep.
She only took a little off the ends but it feels much better. Onward to long hair, I say!
I've got another Lynx tour this month - two last weekend and four this week. I have to wear a face full of makeup and have perfect hair (part of the uniform). So... by the end of this your my skin will be wrecked from wearing so much foundation and powder and my hair will be dead from so much straightening and blowdrying. I'm looking down at my hair now and there are SO many split ends... Definitely going to go through them with the scissors.
Also, I have a salon appointment booked for Thursday - I'm definitely getting my roots done but shall I trim? This is the hardest decision I will make all week

You are one busy bee, Abi. I'm only glad to be average-looking so I'm never put in such situations.
Trimming is okay, I mean, if you leave your splitties then they'll just get worse.

Tell me about it, I am still working full time so I'm powering through with no day off for 16 days.
Don't ever think you are average. Because you're not. You are above average in looks, personality, intelligence, talent... I wish you wouldn't undersell yourself Elle.
Yeah, I am thinking, if I trim, I'll stop those splits in their tracks but, I trim my hair as fast as it grows at the moment. Because my hair is highlighted I can easily see how quickly my hair is growing from the roots but it just doesn't get longer at the ends. Booo!
How was your weekend? xx

That is insane. I work five day weeks and even that's too much. I think a 9 to 5 job would be awesome... for like two days a week, you know... and ten times the pay.
I have no idea how to have self-esteem. I'm well-versed in underselling.
Maybe just get a proper trim, then tuck your scissors away and ban yourself from them? Your hair is pretty darn long at the moment in any case, so I think you're fairly safe (as in you won't go bald from overtrimming unless you have some kind of psychotic episode, which would be both unlikely and pretty unfortunate).
My weekend was so sleepy, I enjoyed it, but I'm hanging to go out and dance. My face is 90% clear so my makeup actually looks nice for a change. I just wish I could be comfortable in my own skin at the moment. I'm trying to get used to how thinned out my hair is too! It's usually so ridiculously thick, my ponytail just looks sad now...

To be fair, I could do the promo thing full time and work twice as much. vis-a-vis I could do it part time and quit my job. BUT I can't be arsed to be glamourous all the time. There's nothing better than kicking around in baggy sweat pants and a hoody with no makeup and scruffy hair
Actually I was a bit offended by Rob on Saturday. I saw him straight from the job and he said that I look ten years older when I wear makeup and I joked and said that it was a sneak peak into what I would look like when I'm 30 and he said "please don't ever look like that". I know he didn't mean to offend me or say I am ugly but have some tact you knob face.
I think that confidence is more of a 'being at peace' with yourself... Just totally accepting the way that you are and being the best you can be from the inside. The thing that makes me feel the most confident is when I do things to make other people happy. Like complimenting a stranger or like that gift box I made for my auntie. OK this all sounds so American and happy happy but for me it makes me feel good about myself and therefore confident.
90% clear is awesome!! I bet you're glad you took the photos of your progress - makes you really appreciate when you're clear.
If you want to go out and dance then GO OUT AND DANCE!
SoOO to recap, AmaraG did you find any products that don't break you out? I have dealt with this all of my teenage/adult life.
I have tried organic, cheap drugstore stuff, expensive salon stuff... ALL OF IT BREAKS ME OUT!
I am so depressed. The acne ranges from annoying little bumpies to painful cysts when I use something that my skin REALLY doesn't like.
I am going to try Jessicurl products next. I am out of options!
I have curly/wavy hair that is very thick and needs a good conditioner.
Burt's bees I thought would work, NOPE. Nor does it condition enough. I bought Giovanni stuff too and the mousse makes my hair feel like straw and its so matted and tangled I literally ripped a chunk out of my hair in the shower this morning
Pantene seems to break me out the worst, so I definitely try to avoid anything with Panthenol which I can only assume is one of the things my skin hates.
I used to love Suave Professionals and then about 6 months ago they revamped everything and the "all new improved formula" turned me into a blemished mess.

Oh, I'd rather wear sneakers and hoodies everywhere. It's just a shame they won't let me wear them to work. I'd be so much more productive if I were comfortable. I feel like such a derp in my work shirt and a pencil skirt.
I think you look a few years older with the makeup on, but not in a negative way (going solely by your pretty avatar picture). Definitely not 10 years, that is absurd. You look older than me (I don't know if you are... I'm 23 in December) but not by a huge leap. Boys do not even know what tact is, they're as sharp as a spoon. Don't worry about him. He is a mere male and can't help that his mouth is made just the right size to jam both of his feet in there.
I'm trying to find peace with myself! I just keep seeing things I need to "fix" (too fat, too spotty, teeth aren't white enough, hair's not shiny enough) even though I know it's silly.
I will go tear up the d-floor this weekend.

Have you tried Head & Shoulders or some other type of anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner? I think they make different formulations for different types of hair and they never broke me out.

I dont have terrible split ends maybe because I have worn my hair back instead of straightening it so often.

hi, sorry to hear you ahve so much trouble with these products!
The ones I have used which do not break me out are (Im sorry its so expensive.) Wen, and Sallys knock off called Hair One.
I also have been using Morrocanoil products which dont seem to cause me to break out either.I have to thank these girls for suggesting it.
I have tried some of these others you have suggested with no good results either. maybe go to a health store /natural store and ask advice? read the ingredienst and avoid as you said penthenol and maybe parabens and laurel/laureth sulfates.
Also make sure you really rinse all the shampoo/conditioner off your body after youre done and keep your hair off your face when youre not "done up". hope this helps, I have been using Moroccan oil and Hair One and not been having a problem.

Me too! I go through phases of thinking "right, I'm definitely going to make an effort to be more glamourous". Then I find myself in men's tracksuits that I genuinely bought for myself because I like the baggy look
Actually right now I'm at work and my hair is unwashed and tied back with a piece of string. I look like I am homeless!!!
I'm 23 next feb. I've always looked older than I am, which was great for getting into clubs and being served alcohol, not so good when I hit 30 and look 40!!
I totally understand the whole 'fix' thing. I have these lines around my mouth from so much BP and topical over the years and I go through phases of wanting to fix them, or fix my hair, or get fit etc etc. I think both of us just need to settle down and chill. Give ourselves a break! Holiday?! I want to go to Bali.
Haha that's spot on about blokes. Their brains sure aren't connected to their mouths

Yep Lynx is a deoderant brand for men. They have the funniest adverts!

hi Abigail, Oh I know these products they sell them here yes they do have funny commercials!
You will be happy to know I really like the moroccanoil products!
The conditioner and the oil do seem to control my frizzy mess although I am not believing they actually repair . There went all my spending money for other stuff but I am happy with it )
Hey girls, what's the progress on hair growth?
I am in URGENT need of seeing my hairdresser. My roots are getting pretty gnarly. Most disappointing is that I can see how much my hair has grown from my roots but it doesn't seem to be any longer.
Get in my life mermaidhair!

My ends are frizzy as. I got my hair cut a few weeks ago (just a trim, and had it thinned out, promise! ) but it seems that even if I use heat protectant in my hair before straightening, it fries SO quickly. It's such an awkward length right now.

STOP STRAIGHTENING YOUR HAIR! Any heat on your hair will damage it every time which can't be repaired.
If you get a good serum and use on damp hair, let it dry and it should control frizz to an extent that you wont need to straighten. Healthy hair grows longer quicker. Longer hair is heavy and pulls frizz out.
PS I watched Tim Minchin last week and he made me miss Australia EVEN more. Especially when he was talking about UWA. I crashed many a lecture there. Stealing knowledge is fun.

I knowwwww but I look ugly if I don't straighten my hair. Blah! Okay. I use argan oil in my hair but it seriously won't curl properly. It just looks like... noodles.

There's no way you could ever look ugly.
I love noodles.
I don't blow dry my hair any more, so to dry it quickly I literally head bang for a few minutes. Makes my hair dry but makes me feel severely disorientated and I also look like a complete mentalist.
On holiday earlier in the year my best buddy Lydia were doing this on the balcony of the hotel room. If anyone saw us I imagine they would die from laughter. I'm laughing a bit now thinking about it...

Oh, I seriously can. Like now, I've broken out in a zillion tiny spots that look like a rash. It's sexy. But! I got my ears pierced again yesterday and I put in two pairs of the most completely mismatched earrings. I love them, hehe.
I would shake my hair dry but it's so curly that it would turn into a huuuuge fuzz bomb. And I love noodles too, but they are so high calorie. I once saw a packet of instant noodles that were 800 calories. I died a little on the inside and put them back.
Nizoral! I bought some today and am gonna try it tonight but I am very optimistic - there has been lots of reviews and talks about it helping to clear up acne because it has something that helps to get rid of acne-causing hormones (or something like that; not sure cuz it's all real complicated) anyway, it's supposed to be a good facial and body wash to help clear up acne. so it's not really being used as a shampoo but i'm thinking it won't make you break out either! I will post again on this thread in a few days (or weeks) and let everyone know how it works

hey Sistas, Ive been a good girl and not chopped my mop. Im going to the beach this week so I wont be online but Ill try and get some pics of my hair .
I wish I could stop straightening it and colouring and all that. Arrgh why couldnt I ahve been born with lovely silky tresses which require minimal messing with/ if I dont do my hair I look like I ahve ramen noodles on m head. and btw dont you just hate it when a guy has nicer hair than you? lol I love guys with long hair but sometimes I get a bit jealous I mean they dont even do anything to it and it looks nicer than mine (
Ever seen peter gabriel circa 1976? Like a freaking Pantene model(of course now he is totally bald!)
Just kidding I love peter...
Anyway girls have a nice week:-)
I second on Organix. Its sulfate free & has a lot of natural ingredients. & the best part is the smell is strong for some reason so you can really smell the shampoo even hours after you wash your hair. & these ones smell BOMB.
I recommend the coconut one & chery blossom
thanks I think I would like the coconut one it smells great

I was naughty and straightened mine this morning... it's because I'm wearing a little dress and I feel prettier with straight hair. It looks really glossy and soft thanks to the argan oil. And people have been telling me I look good! So it just perpetuates itself.
I promise not to straighten too much! Once my hair is longer, my curls will sit better, I hope. I hate them!
