Right now I'm trying out Almay TLC but the color is too light for me. I like Colorstay but no one seems to have the Softflex formula for the color I need. The older formula is a couple shades too light for me. >:( Tried MAC (too orange), Estee Lauder (too pink), Shiseido (not enough coverage), Maybelline etc. I might have to give in and get matched at Sephora for MUFE HD foundation since they have so many shades. I'm only afraid of it breaking me out....and the price. O_O But it would be worth it if I could find something that matches.

Searching for the HG foundation sucks ass.

The Almay TLC is too dark for me! I haven't found anything that has matched me yet.

Searching for a great foundation does suck!!! I like MUFE HD and it hasn't broken me out though. It's a good foundation!

I like the coverage of MUFE HD, but it's the wrong color. Sephora wouldn't allow me to exchange it either, so that was a negative thing about it. So I'm stuck with a too dark of a color. I think alot of the problem, though, too is that I have rosaccea so it makes it look even darker. 😐

That kit that you got sounds so exciting too!

Wow really? Usually you can return anything! That is so weird. Boo 🙁 You should mix it with a lighter foundation and maybe you can wear it this summer. Aw .. what is your rosacea skin care deal?

I was really excited to try MUFE HD, and it's not bad... still looking for my perfect foundation, though. Although if my skin is even remotely dry, I don't even touch it. It really, really draws attention to dry spots, I've found. I'm trying to find a good primer though, so maybe that'll help me like it more.

I would definitely recommend using primer with the MUFE foundation, as well as others. It makes everything so much easier!

And yes, my kit is exciting!! :D I've spent the last 2 days at school playing with it... 2 more days to go. Having a lot of fun and learning a lot.

Do you guys apply makeup according to the shape and placement of your features? Or do you just apply what you apply? (Whatever you think looks good)

no, I'm definitely not skillz'd enough to try to change how my features look :P I've tried some of the Michelle Phan shading videos and it jsut looks ugly and streaky on me. Since school's out and my skin is doing well I have worn almost no makeup for 3 weeks!

Haha I had never even thought about it before. I'll do some examples for y'all for fun. My eyes apparently are "close-set, one eye round one eye almond" (fuuu - dge). Oh well. it's just for the sake of correction. I wasn't sure I bought the fact that pretty much everyone needs to be corrected, but if we are going off the "ideal" beauty... it's the same world round. Symmetry is key. Wonderful since I have freckles on one side of my face and a crooked nose ;)

Wow that's awesome! Giving it a big breather! How does it feel?

Yeah, I can't really extend any dark eyeshadows past my crease (or very little) because my eyes are deep-set. I get major raccoon-zombie eyes - it makes me eyes look even more sunken in! I also don't like doing the highlight thing on the brow bone because, again, that part sticks out naturally and I don't need to draw anymore emphasis to it! I never do dark colors on my lower lash line because I have some dark circle issues and I feel like that worsens the effect... I'm not sure if I have deep-set eyes actually lol I just know the stuff I listed doesn't work for me!

WOW! She is beautiful! I love her strong features and dark hair and skin. She is of Middle Eastern descent, right? Probably Iraqi, Irani, Persian. I am Turkish and am naturally blessed with dark, long hair and skin that tans easily. I can't get over how stunning she is. Her skin looks flawless in the picture. Be honest, Bek, is it flawless? I don't want to sound rude, but I hope I'm not being duped by some good Photoshopping! ;) You did an excellent job. The purple really works well with her dark eye color.

Sounds like you have it down pat lol! Hmm. You probably have deep set eyes... sounds like it. Mine are a little close and deep. We have to pull them out! Yeah, my browbone doesn't need highlighting but I love me a good gleam so I do it anyway 😛 haha. Let's see some of your makeup!!

Haha yes, she is GORGEOUS. She can probably pull off almost anything, she is my new test dollie. She is Middle Eastern, Yemeni+Palestinian mostly. Close! Yeah, I am jealous of your guys' skin tone. Sooo pretty. Hahaha no she isn't photo shopped. She had pretty great skin to begin with and I used a cream foundation (full coverage). Thank you very much :D! I though it looked pretty nice on her.

This look is very dramatic! I like how she looks like she's sneaking off into the night to meet her lover! Hahaha. It looks like she's on the run. I love it. Such great contrast between the dark background and her colorful clothing and makeup.

@Iamashley- I love your eye look there! If only I could pull off a look like that when I do wear my glasses, and have it noticeable. (if that makes sense, lol).

I have worn a lot of interesting eye makeup looks when wearing my glasses and they have been just as noticeable as makeup worn without glasses! It's all about how you rock it, you know\? I apply my makeup without thinking about my glasses.

I have another look, I don't have a detailed, closed-eye picture though. This was from 2008-ish, nice and colourful but not tacky colourful (which I was prone to when I first got into makeup):

And all old pictures I have where you can see my makeup more clearly, all are from 2005-2009ish.

And LOL me in grade 9:

post-134556-1309842432_thumb.jpg

Ah, I miss makeup 🙁

And holy bejeezus I look different in all of my pictures :/ Lol. I don't look like any of these pictures now: different hair, different skin, different eyebrows, and slightly different weight. Hm.

i like the orange on you. n yes, you do know how to rock glasses. i'm still tryin 2 figure out how to do that. pretty nails in the last pic.

Yep! You hit the nail on the head. Exactly what I was thinking. 'Forbidden' is a great way to describe the look. 🙂

The OG post!

Hi girls & guys!

I noticed there are a lot of people who have opinions about make up on this site! Whether good, bad, curious, or wanting to know how to put on make up more skillfully- we can talk about it here! I thought it would be fun to have a thread about different looks. I will be posting my make up looks daily (or near daily) to see if anyone wants to know how to do part or all of them! And please feel free to add yours 😀

January 19, 2010!

Could we see some before/after pictures please? I didn't make it through all 20 pages... but it'd be very helpful to see how well your makeup looks with a before picture....

Yeah sure!! I will definitely do some. I have a sunburn right now so I am not doing much makeup but it should go away soon and I'd be more than happy to.

Also, thank you girls! I'm glad you liked the look. Just for fun of course 😉

I obviously have a bad sunburn haha. :( The worst case scenario for someone who does skin for a living. I'm so fair, it's pretty much impossible to conceal all the redness but I did my best. I'm going to a dimly lit place tonight so I caked it on a bit ;)
