this isn't related to makeup but...I went to Sally's and got Beyond the Zone pro formula color jamz semi-permanent dye and it is absolute SHIT!!! I tried it on my dog's tail for fun, good thing I did before I bleached my own hair (not that I bleached my dog's tail...she's white). The hot pink is pastel pink, and the violet is faded-looking blue. Absolutely atrocious. I'm going to call Sally's back and try to get them returned and buy Manic Panic instead
ashley is hxc!~*~ said:The way the shampoos and conditioners are used can definitely play a part in that, not just hte product itself. I have to make sure I always thoroughly rinse everything out, although I don't seem to have any oiliness issues anymore. But I also went back to my tomboy days of shampooing daily haha.AND OMG I HAVE NOT WORN MAKEUP SINCE LIKE. December. Or even before. I kinda miss makeup. But I also don't. My eyelashes are so much nicer now haha. I'm hoping that my skin clears up enough to look okay without foundation (which I don't even wear now, but no foundation and eye makeup with this skin would look odd). I want to try the Korres Deep Colour mascara, since it's supposed to be moisturizing. Anyone try it?
And Kat, pretty! Do you have anything on your blog about filling in brows, a how-to? My brows are growing in now, and I have sparse spots. THe brows themselves are thin. I'd love to learn to better fill them out, always had trouble. And are you srsly getting married at 19? HOLY CRAP, I want romance too
yes I do here: [Removed]
and thanks for the compliments to the two other posters...I wish i looked that good in real life lol or without all the make up!

thank you  which lipstick do you mean?
quick review of the new Neutrogena free and light (or free and pure? cant remember) SPF 50 liquid sunscreen: overall very nice. Very little scent (big bonus here) oweing mostly to the titanium dioxide/zinc oxide active ingredients. As a result of this it is nice and nonirriating. However it made my face very white, even with powder. When I looked in the mirror at school I looked awful! The floursescent lights are horrible of course but I still looked bad. I would say this is very similar to the Shiseido 55 except in texture (shiseido is cream, this is liquid). and its only $11. I would say this is a good sunscreen for the weekends if you are out gardening or being active. The white zince face is just hard to get around for everyday use. 4 out of 5 stars.
rockingredhead, it's too bad that the neutrogena made your skin whiter! bleh. otherwise, i'd get it .. considering summer is right around the corner, and i think a liquid sunscreen is such a great idea. i wonder if mixing it with foundation could even out the color. i love reading reviews about products : )
quick review on 2 ELF products.
1) the mineral eyeshadow primer - unfortunately, this only works well for me when used under two faced shadow insura. first i apply the two faced, wait a minute. then apply the mineral primer, and a mac paint pot right after. i think it serves as a pretty good base bc my shadow doesn't crease for a long time, tho it doesn't last all day = ( prob lasts 10 hrs on me on a good day, and 7 hours on a regular day. i envy ppl who can just use this primer and stay crease free all day! i do think this is worth the money, tho. even with shipping charges. you get a lot of product. i use mine almost every day, and i've had it for over 4 months.
2) the studio C brush -- ahhh i LOVE this brush! only downside is the long handle, but it's awesome for applying shadow on the lower lash-line for a more dramatic effect. i'm sure this could also be multifunctional, and use it as a lid, or outer corner brush. $3 for this is insane.

have you not tried urban decay primer potion for an eyelid primer? I have the oiliest lids and no other primer works for me, even for 5 minutes. This stuff last me the whole day though.
i've wanted to try it .. esp the one in sin, but i don't want to deal with the container. maybe i'll get over it, though. sin looks like SUCH a pretty color. *sigh* i feel your pain about oily lids. jeez. ppl tell me that i'll have less wrinkles as i get older, but i highly doubt that. i've never been blessed with an OUNCE of luck when it comes to my crappyass skin, so i really don't think i'll be able to delay wrinkles. thank you for your suggestion =D

You can buy the thing on its own, it's 12 and it will last you forever...
and the wrinkle thing is true...my mum's got the greasiest skin (thanks mum), and at 47 she has no wrinkles...just some scarring from her younger years but no wrinkles, apart from very fine lines around the eyes but then she doesn't take care of her skin lol
Everyone always raves about Urban Decay Primer Potion. I never really notice that my eye shadow creases at all, though. It does sometimes wear off a bit by the end of the day. Do you think the Primer Potion could help me with staying power?
This is the one product I have found that lives up to the hype. I can't really live without it, it keeps it on literally all day. Yes, it will definitely help you with staying power, it makes the colours more vibrant too, just make sure you blend it in well and don't use too much! it's great stuff.

I don't know anything about scarring, but I will tell you that MAC makes acne worse.

Hey Salma! I don't blame you. It takes a lot of courage to stop using makeup. I could only stop using makeup after I went on Accutane. Before, I couldn't do it. I actually think I look better without foundation, powder, concealer. I really like the natural, bright glow I have on my face now and I don't feel like any kind of makeup could give me that same effect. To be honest, I feel like buying over the counter acne treatments at the store are only temporary fixes. In my experience, I've found that effective solutions came from the dermatologist. Have you thought about going to a dermatologist and possibly starting antibiotics? If your acne is more hormonal (mostly on your cheeks and jawline), I've found that the best hormonal acne solution is to take Spironolactone with some type of birth control pill. My acne is hormonal. I got it from my mom's side of the family. My mom, aunt, and I all have suffered from hormonal acne at one point or another. We also grow excessive hair on our faces and bodies. Granted, it's very light, fine hair, but the hair is there regardless when it's not supposed to be. I am of Turkish descent, so I think genetics plays a big role in that too. Most Turkish women have very thick, brown hair and grow more hair than they're supposed to on their bodies. We also have olive complexions and tan very easily. I think this is true for lots of women in the Middle East.
I went on Accutane because I was getting very frustrated with temporary results. I wanted to take something that I knew would work. I knew Accutane was right for me. I did a lot of research and finally made the decision. I could have taken it a year earlier than I did, but I had to put it on hold because my mom was worried about me. I'm not saying that Accutane is right for you, but I think it's time to consult a dermatologist and consider other options besides just trying to treat your acne with expensive fancy serums and cleansers that only make your acne go away for a little while and don't actually solve the real problem at hand.
hi sima
thanks for getting back to me. well after your encouragement i went out of the house today for the first time without any makeup but then i admit i felt really paranoid and after like half an hour i came back home to put it on. but im sure i'll get to that stage where i can be makeup free like you. its just that my acne has left me with red marks and dented scars so without makeup i feel very insecure.
i have been on rouaccutane in the past ive been on it twice but my acne isnt bad anymore. i only get acne on my cheeks and jawline when i am on my periods so i think its hormonal. my doc did put me on birth control put it actually made me breakout and when i stopped taking it my acne cleared. for me now my scarring bothers me, i dont like the dentations on my cheeks and when random strangers stop and stare or make comments it really hurts.
yes your skin tone is similar to mine, i have asian skin so im an olive tone. it just makes finding acne scarring treatments alot more difficult. ive bought dr perricones cleanser, moisturiser and skin tablets just to improve my skin tone.
by the way sima i think youre really pretty. i really just need to build up my confidence. hows your skin looking nowadays??
Thanks for getting back to me

I've been using the Great Skin is In kit for a little over 2 weeks now and I really can't say as to if there has been improvement or not. the retinol seems to be working well but I am still having breakouts...like I would be looking great and on my way to clear for a few days then BAM a chin breakout or hairline breakout (still getting over that one). The cleanser is nice but there's no salicylic acid, AHA, etc. I'm just glad I got the small set and not the big $65 one!!!I really want to try out this Peter Thomas Roth Acne Clearing Gel w/ AHA + BHA. It's got fab reviews on Sephora and a couple people listed it as their HG product in AcneSlayer's thread.

I've also heard good things about Murads Clarifying Mask but the active ingredient is sulfur and I once tried DDF's sulfur mask and all it did was make the skin red wherever I applied it 🙁
I also want to try more DDF stuff...lol if I had all the money and patience in the world I would buy like everything and have a blast trying it out 😛
DDF cleansers and PTR cleansers are my all time favorites. They are awesome and last FOREVER.
I had the clearing gel but couldn't use it due to my prescriptions, so I gave it to my man. He loves it and uses it everyday. He said it closes his pores up (we know it doesn't really, but apparently makes them much less noticeable.) It's got a good formulation going on. Retinol does take a bit of time to work. I would say at least a month to see really good results. Are you still using it?
P.S. - I used to adore the moisturizer. I remember when they changed the formulation the first time a few years ago. I actually returned it because the smell and texture were so different, I thought I got a rotten batch or something. But unfortunately that's just how it is now, and it also clogs my pores up now 🙁
i'm hoping someone can help me find a dupe to a mac eyeshadow.
i have a hello kitty 12 palette of shadows. on the back it says it's the NC05 palette. when you first open it up, there's a grayish, silverish shadow at the end of it. it's prob not a color that's too difficult to find, but i'd really like to find a dupe that's a single shadow, not in a palette. if anybody knows what i'm talking about .. please let me know. it doesn't matter what brand it is .. as long as it's a close shade, and is pigmented.
uh oh. u guys have created some SERIOUS lemmings those SMH eye shadows look promising; i've never heard of them. if the eye shadows are true to color on the site, i can already tell bayli would be a close dupe of MAC sable. for $6 i'm going to have to try a couple. hehe. the TT in chain and UD in S&M look really close to the color i want, acneslayer.
thank you guys for your suggestions ! for someone who's really in2 makeup, it's sad when one of your most used eyeshadows gets discontinued or is hard to find.
