Yes it did and I used prednisone and some anti fungal shampoo and then some like topical oil Id put on my head before bed. Was gone in like a week!
Hey just wanted to say good luck on your journey. One major piece of advice Ill give you. If you start noticing any signs of hair loss....tell your dermatologist and stop taking the pills immediately. I initially noticed the hair loss and brushed it off as temporary and not a big deal to get rid of acne. I even tried to convince my dermatologist to let me stay on it,but little did I know that it wasnt temporary and were not talking minor hair loss. Its significant loss to the point where your scalp is visible type hair loss. Depending on how bad your acne is you may think its worth it but thats for you to decide.

Hey man thanks so much for the good wishes! Definitely wanna keep my head of hair lol. If at any point anything bad begins happening Im definitely going to look into other options! So far Im basically a month down and my face looks horrible but other than that side effect the only other is just dry lips!
Day 29
ok so wow a lot has happened. The rest of my face is starting to die down, but Ive had this decent sized cyst on my left lower Cheek and this morning I woke up to it the size of a 50 cent coin and Im not exaggerating one bit. I walked out and my mom was like woah so I called me derm and she couldnt get me in but prescribed me a antibiotic and 2.5% hydrocortisone cream and told me to go see a normal doctor. I went in and they injected both my buttcheeks with antibiotics and cortisone\prednisone. The whole right side of my face is drooping over my jaw because of this thing. So ya guys Im on 5 mediations right now, 4 of which are for my initial breakout and the other is accutane.Just warning people that accutane can cause some pretty nasty pimples/cysts so be aware that it can get pretty bad but just keep the end goal in sight. Still sticking it through because why stop now
Day 30
So its now Week 5. That prednisone shot yesterday did some serious work. I legit look so much better today. That massive cyst is still very large but definitely smaller than yesterday, plus it drained itself a little last night (I know its gross). Having my next appt in 3 days and my dosage is either gonna be upped to 40mg or 60mg. I kinda just want to do 60 and get this done with lol. The sooner the better. Anyway Ill report back on what my new dosage will be.
Day 33
got bumped to 40mg a day today. Probably gonna stop updating this so much considering theres basically 0 interaction and I feel likes it really waisting my time but Ill update this log at the end of the month! Ill check periodically for questions as well. Good luck everyone

Have you dealt with the extreme drying yet? I got bumped up to 60mg from 30mg. My arms are extremely dry, just wondering if you've dealt with this?

Yes! I get dry patches on my arms and my skin breaks super easily. Still breaking out unfortunately
Day 50 (Start of week 8)
So its the start of week 8 and this is supposedly when its supposed to start clearing up but my face is really bad right now. Back and chest is clear but face not anywhere close. Kaiser is being very conservative and wont help other than the accutane. No antibiotics, no prednisone, no cortisone shots. Also the huge cyst that came up almost a month ago is still here and leaks just about every single day. I took it upon myself to order some Bactrim from an online pharmacy because quite frankly Im done looking like this. I can handle a week of a bad breakout, hell even 2 weeks. But 2 months straight of horrible acne? Sorry thats where I draw the line. Im sure accutane will start working soon but now it will have Bactrim to help. Bactrim has great reviews and doctors often prescribe it alongside accutane to help combat the IB. My doctor just doesnt care so had to take things into my own hands! Ill check back when my face looks any better.

Day 51
Had a pretty big cyst come up on my chin yesterday and it just popped itself right now. Things come and go quite quickly but Ive had one cyst that just wont go away. Lips are straight broken just skin everywhere on them.
Are you sure you have ordinary acne and not fungal acne ? Oral prednisone, oral antibiotics and possibly oral accutane can cause fungal acne (either malasezzia or candida). Do you have dandruff and/or a white tongue ? If so, you probably have fungal acne, not ordinary acne. Get back to me if you would like further information.

No neither!
Day 53
does anyone know when this IB will end? I dont understand how i can break out to this extent for 8 weeks straight. This seems very excessive compared to everyone elses logs. My derm is a ass and gets annoyed when I ask for something for the IB and says I warned you like no the hell you didnt. You warned me the first 2weeks to a month not 2 months. I did a lot of research before starting this and I Feel like something is off. Maybe because I took antibiotics for so long before this that the acne has just been hiding? Like what is happening? I get a cyst and tons of whiteheads every single day. Im so tired of this
Notwithstanding no white tongue and no dandruff, you are still likely to have fungal "acne" if you have taken antibiotics.
I would apply a topical antifungal cream (start with clotrimazole cream) and see of that helps your problem.
Doctors are in denial about fungal acne, and they will not recognise that they cause the problem by prscribing antibiotics and other drugs (meds).
Get back to me if you want further information about fungal "acne". It is very common, and is largely unrecognised by the medical "profession".

I would honestly get a second opinion from another Derm. Doctors should be willing to work with you not against you. My IB only lasted about 2 weeks, I still get little flare ups. My derm was more than willing to give me prednisone. I'm sorry to hear this is taking this long. I wish you luck!

Thanks man! Im hoping the Bactrim I ordered will help a lot. The thing is that the pimples that come up, pop very fast but they just keep coming so it sucks. Im hoping the third month things change

Accutane will still get rid of fungal acne though right? Im just so tired of buying all these creams and Washes honestly. Its been years of that which is why I just wanted to go on accutane
Accutane may temporarily (ONLY) help control fungal acne caused by malasezzia, but the fungal acne will come back, possibly worse than before. Accutane will make acne caused by candida WORSE.
Just try applying clotrimazole cream. It is perfectly safe (and accutane is NOT safe), and clotrimazole cream is cheap and readily available without a prescription.. You will soon know if you have fungal acne or not by the response to clotrimazole.
If you have fungal acne, then it is no wonder that the treatments for ordinary acne that you have tried have not treated the problem.
Fungal acne is caused by taking antibiotics, prednisone, birh control, pills and a few other meds (possibly including accutane ??). So, you would be wise to apply some antifungal cream 3-4 times a day to the affected areas for several days BEFORE trying accutane.
I am happy to hear how you go with the anti-fungal cream. You may need a more targeted antifungal cream if the clotrimazole only helps to some extent. I can provide advice on more targeted topical antifungal creams.

Ok got it, Ill give it a shot - why not, I appreciate your time!
On a different note does anyone else notice when you pop a pimple on accutane that the wound is like super deep? Every pimple I pop its like a dark hole going deep into my skin and then just rushes with blood.
Week 10
When I began this treatment I never wouldve thought my skin would be double as bad as it was when I started deep into my treatment. Week 10 ladies and gentleman and my skin looks awful. Just got done at my Derm Appt and its a RN that is monitoring my treatment. First thing she says is oh wow your really flairing up. Once I again I ask for something to help the IB and once again she immediately says no followed by raising her voice and telling me I wasnt understanding. That was fun. So here we are and I must say Im not necessarily depressed however I have 0 confidence, I dont want to get out of bed, i dont want to see my friends, I quite frankly just want to be alone until this acne clears. Its not that Im in this deep dark depression but im just embarrassed. If I could go back I probably wouldnt have started accutane and would have tried a different antibiotic. Summer is approaching and me and my friends have a ton of stuff planned but honestly I wont be going out if this doesnt improve soon. I feel nothing but anger in my skin.
FH99
Doctors do not understand fungal acne. I beg you to apply antifungal cream to the affected areas of your skin, and see if that treat your problem. i do not think that you have ordinary acne. Instead, you have fungal acne. Do NOT take any antibiotics. Your problem (fungal "acne") is most likely CAUSED BY TAKING ANTIBIOTICS.
PLEASE buy some clotrimazole antifungal cream and apply it the affected areas of your skin.
The other option is that you have gram negative "acne", again caused by taking (certain) antibiotics, namely doxycycline or tetracycline. Gram negative bacteria requires treatment with very specific antibiotics, which I would use topically, not take orally. Oral antibiotics ARE VERY DANGEROUS.
Try applying the clotrimazole antifungal cream to the affected areas of your skin, and get back to me if you do not see any improvement after a week or so. We can then explore more targeted options for solving the issue, if necessary.
Many people have terrible experiences with dermatologists. My personal view is to keep away from them, and keep away from all doctors, unless one breaks an arm or has appendicitis, etc. Doctors have NO IDEA about how to solve chronic problems and they pump people full of dangerous drugs which have dreadful side effects, and often exacerbate the problem they think they are "solving".
Happy to hear back from you.
Day 70?
Acne has really ruined my life. Im on a family vacation right now with family I havent seen in years and Im sitting inside the hotel room. Im trying to socialize but people just keep staring at my face and my face hurts and it burns and my brother just asked me why Im breaking out.Im done, truly done
