The thing is antibiotics usually work faster than tane, and have a lower risk profile. In your case, however, they don't seem to work. Accutane may not work either, and even worse, could worsen things and leaving possibly long term side effects.

Accutane could take up to 3m or so to clear you. Dose depends on person, and length as well. If risk is taken, I suggest a low dose, 10-20, and see how it goes. Some derms now do exclusively very low dose with same results but possibly less side effects.

If no disorder/allergy or any other cause of acne, then accutane is likely the only option left to try. End of day, creams can't do much if acne is really bad.

I understand the speed of antibiotics but my case is. If I take another course and have to wait until atleast 6 weeks to see if it helps. And if they don't help that's 6 weeks lost, and 6 weeks I could be into tane which will more than likely help me. I don't have time to miss around with more biotics.

I think you should take Accutane. I don't like this medicine, because it has some side effects but I can't deny the effectiveness.

Other treatments just pushes the problem forward, and all you can do is "hope" your will stay clear. But in fact, it doesn't solve anything.

Accutane will solve your problem, and it might come back (just like me) but not as intense as it was. It cures a certain % of acne permanently, while other stuff hides the problem.

Have you taken this, and how long/dosage? Long term? The safety profile looks good.

I take combination of antibiotics. Thu fri sat i take azithromycin(500 mg) and rest of the days i take doxycycline(100 mg). I have been on this course for nearly 40 days and yes have noticed some improvement. I can send you pics if you want. But i still get some off pimples but they are few and manageable and am living in a constant fear of having a relapse|::pray:. But my main problem is hyperpigmentation. The marks linger on for a long time.

Doxycycline never did shit to me. It's not even made especially "for acne". It's for treating some other problems and that's also another reason why it can't really be good for bad acne. I hope you'll get to accutane soon! :)

Accutane doesn't help at all in many cases as well(we have people here for whom it got even worse, ri didn't change at all), in many it returns... and side effects can stick forever. If anything else works at all, I wouldn't take it. If it doesn't well... then you think.

Again, in your case antibiotics don't help, so there isn't much else to try... I understand your pain. You have to be prepared accutane might not help either, you just can't say for sure.

When going to new derm, write down all antibiotics you had and details, so you dont' repeat the same tratments again and again. Also ask if suspicion of any other cause exists.

There are over 10+ antibiotics you can use for acne... there isn't one specifically for acne, because they kill a range of bacteria.
Same way, accutane is a chemotherapy/brain/nerve cancer- it's not just for acne. Do not fool yourself it is only for acne.

In OP's case, antibiotics don't work, so even myself I have to say there isn't muche else to try.

hives on my Back, chest, legs, arms, feet, hands and face.

swollen Lips, nose, forehead and eyes. Brilliant!

Really sorry to hear- cycline allergy is very rare, the biggest worry is any allergy doesn't affect breathing but should pass.

You could have gone to ER, walk in doctor, and ask for steroids or something to ease swelling.

You should not take any cycline again, be sure to mention this to new derm. See what they say... but from your story, options now are likely very limited. Do you have any other allergies?

you mentioned other antibiotics that aren't in the cycline family? No I never had an allergy before. This is the first time something like this has happened.

Tetra, doxy, mino and lymecycline- all are cyclines(there are more, these are most common). If allergic to mino, these may all be risky.

Erithromycin and azythromicine are not. AlsoTrimethoprim. There are also others outside this group.

It's hard to say what will work well, until one tries.

Be careful for any symptoms whatever you take, perhaps also get tested for other allergies. Sometimes the tongue and throat swell, so people choke. You will win thisacne war, just have to keep fighting!

Lymecycline oral and zineryt lotion.
yeah 3 months. Middle of Dec to March.

pretty Much, I got like one small red pimple every two weeks that disappeared after 2 days.

I don't advice antibiotics as a long term solution however, just look at the recent pictures of my skin!

Thanks! When you were off the oral antibiotics, did you use the Zineryt all over as preventative or just a pimple came out?

I used it just on any pimple that came out but it ran out of date like a month after I finished the anti biotics so I didnt use it much after.

Mate, it's not ruined at all.

Yeah it's so hard to live with right now and all you want is to sleep all day till it's gone.

But you had the luck that it only left shallow marks, that will go away with time...

Personnally, I didn't have your luck, so I just hope you'll find happines again

Had my derm app today, he recommended Accutane.

Since I'm on a time frame, he's starting me on 70mg a day for 4 months but if it's too tough with side effects etc. He is dropping the dose and extending to 6 months.

I start my tablets in just over a week. Wish my luck I guess! Lol
