Let me tell you something, i did 5 courses of Accutane and still surffering from this disgraceful desease, it works, is awesome and of course bring results like no other cream or antibiotic, but it's TOO STRONG, only God knows what i have surffered for this drug and still paying the price of it.
Weeks ago i was totally hopeless. But things are finally going fine and clearing me after i did a totally change in my diet. Whats the secret? Dairy free and mainly GLUTEN FREE (this can be a disgraceful protein for your skin) it really makes sense when you cut it off. Start eating healthy, fruits vegetables, DRINK WATER all day, stop with antibiotics, stop with topicals, acids and don't ask for Roaccutane.Just clean it by inside. You will see results.
I would consider myself a healthy eating person who is active with sports and gym.
I do take dairy but I have reduced it quiet a bit now. My brother is gluten intolerant. Maybe that's something to consider..ive a list for the doctor.

Intolerances and allergies are definitely something to consider as well- leave no stone unturned before commiting to tane, or even more antibiotics.
Let me tell you about food- I am a bit older than you, me and my bro, we tried many things... I think we eat good, much veg and so on... diet does help, and even reduce/modify this disease... but I failed to find anything to control fully.
Coconut seems to work well for us, for instance... but all in all, you must live, go to school etc. and no food style itself could control my acne at leats anything I can maintain perfectly normally. Now I may be at the point where I can do so(we shall see).
Ultimately, all treatments, antibiotics as well... will have side effects. If you are faced with bad choices and must take something, you make sure you take least bad option.

Just make sure you read the up-dated PIL which may not be availble at the moment but will be soon.
It will be stating that accutane causes ED and diminished libido.
They do not know how often it occurs so they will not be giving a %.
They also won't be stating that it may be permanent but if you speak directly to the regulators they will tell you that they just don't know for sure.
There is documentation floating around that suggests that 30% of men suffered these side effects after 6 weeks during the original trials but the
results were covered up.
My suggestion is to try everything else first and make sure you are prepared to accept any of the many side effects you may experience if you decide to take accutane.

as I said, I'll try mino and adapalene. Ideally I don't want to be on tablets st all. Hopefully the retinoids will help. Will still visit derm to eliminate allergies etc.
Hey. Taking accutane is definitely a personal decision. I have been on it 3 times and still am struggling with my skin. For others, it significantly helps them long term. Do your research as side effects are real. Just because some people get by with minor issues, it does not mean you may also. Definitely look into diet changes so at least you can check that off your list.
I know how frustrating it can be to be an adult with acne.
Hang in there hun.

Still 100mg.
Accutane time?

Hiya. What side effects did you experience?

Have you tried looking into why seemingly many antibiotics don't work well for you? Resistance seems unlikely to me to all and so quickly... perhaps this is what docs should aim at, before jumping to tane.
If it's any consolation, I've seen far, far worse.
they just give you another cycline family biotic each time.
Yeah but it's far from normal skin mate, especially for a young adult.

I know mate, I know this suffering...
My point was merely that if you can check what kind of bacteria(if bacteria at all) are causing your acne, it could help. Else, you may end up on accutane- and it may not help at all either.
I do agree there is little point in taking cyclines if they don't work.

I can get a GP here same day, derms week(s) or so maybe? Private ones- within days really. Seems NHS is extremely slow.

The only thing I haven't tried is BP which I tried last time I had a bad breakout and it cleared up but I'm not sure what product actually cleared me.
thinking while I wait for my app I could add a face wash with active BP and use it in the morning.
then acne.org cleanser and differin at night.
nhs is a disaster, and because it is so slow then huge amounts of people go Private, hence why 6 week waiting time.

really sorry to hear... the reaction could be to something else as well, or even something because of mix of stuff you have taken over time.
In any case, you should stop it. It's not helping you anyway. Maybe none of antibiotics are helping you because you have some sort of reaction to them. You should ring a doc if hives anyway!
Without more testing, we can't say more. Acne is a dreadful disease

these antibiotics are getting dumped. 4 months and only worse. They have done nothing for me! It gets worse everyday.
My case is definitely reaching from highly moderate..wait until it's severe! And 1 month to wait on a derm appointment. Brilliant.

It's possible you are allergic to all cyclines, or even more... if it is allergy, I would advise not to take any cycline again. Maybe other antibiotics will help you, but as you say you tried already, maybe not...
On that matter, have you ever had any allergies, to anything? It sucks, I know.

Never had allergies. I can't see it being the differin as the hive is wide spread. Gonna get this all checked out but I've stopped the minocycline until further instruction I.e. next months appointment.

I don't really have time. I've got 7.5 months to be clear. My derm app is 1 month away. I'd rather take Accutane as I assume it will clear me up better than more antibiotics.
so that's a time frame of 6.5 months from my appointment. And Accutane is usaully a 6 month dose so yeah.

The thing is antibiotics usually work faster than tane, and have a lower risk profile. In your case, however, they don't seem to work. Accutane may not work either, and even worse, could worsen things and leaving possibly long term side effects.
Accutane could take up to 3m or so to clear you. Dose depends on person, and length as well. If risk is taken, I suggest a low dose, 10-20, and see how it goes. Some derms now do exclusively very low dose with same results but possibly less side effects.
If no disorder/allergy or any other cause of acne, then accutane is likely the only option left to try. End of day, creams can't do much if acne is really bad.
