I was wondering if anyone has tried Retin-A. I went to a dermatologist today and she prescribed me Retin-A. Please, comment about your experience with Retin-A. Did it clear your acne?

I used a similar retinoid and it wrecked my skin so please be careful with it and recognize if it's worth the risk

How did it wreck your skin? I am scared because there are mixed reviews on the product. Some people see it as a life saver while others had negative reactions...

I wrote a whole post about it if you want to go look.
"Tazorac .05 destroyed my face"
Before and after pics.
I'm still dealing with the damage 5 months after literally only using the stuff twice.
It is honestly ridiculous at this point. I'm either laughing or crying about it. Mostly sobbing.

I stupidly used it when I really had no reason to, and I was never informed of how powerful it was. Mine was just a sample and not a prescription. I used it because it "was there" and upon a BRIEF search online,, all I saw was how it was a miracle cream so I really wasn't worried when I put it on my face.
I knew to only use a very tiny amount. But I still got messed up.

you probably won't want to read all my
posts because theyre just basically me in a panic...and just depressing...but the pics shoud be enough to go on...I'm not saying this reaction will happen to you...but I will say that I have spoken to WAY too many people that it HAS happened to from various retinoids of various strengths...with reactions more or less like my own...according to my mad dash research, many if not most people find this to be permanent...I sincerely hope that is not the case for myself...else I'm a dead woman....but it is why I think others should be made aware. Permanent side effects are a WHOLE different story than temporary. And for some reason this specific reaction has no solid solutions, even when brought before dermatologists. I have no clue why.
It's similar to laser damage and chemical peel/dermabrasion complications.
If you look up "retin a /the toxic side effects they don't tell you" there's a whole forum about it.
Or if you look up "retin a creating bad texture and open pores" theres another forum.
Those are just two of hundreds.

All I can tell you is that I would do anything to go back and not have used this crap.
You are still going to get mixed reviews but you have to decide if you could live with potential damage or absolutely not. I would personally exhaust all other options before going to this stuff and even then question myself .

but again, you could be one of the lucky ones who it works for...hell I (WAS) one of the lucky ones whom accutane worked for years ago with no ill effects...yet when I came on here after the retinoid damage all I see is accutane horror stories...everyone is different
