If oil comes back after taking accutane, why doesn't the acne?

It seems like the majority of people who have taken accutane have had their oily skin return shortly after ending the course. Most people also have clear skin (or very mild acne) after the treatment. I am wondering if the oil comes back after accutane, why doesn't all of the acne come back? My derm said that all acne is caused by your sebaceous glands over producing oil wHicham causes you to break out. So shouldn't the acne return if the oil does?

There are some other aspects to the pathogenesis of acne that Accutane also works on.Oil production itself doesn't singlehandedly cause acne. Other factors include ability of oil to drain out of pores/skin cells not shedding properly causing pore blockage/presence of bacteria. Also overproduction is different to normal production of oil. If you do some internet searching on mode of action of isotretinoin you will find some more info. Hope that helps a little with what is a very good question 🙂

Accutane does not destroy oil glands as some claim..it simply normalizes them..and hopefully this normalization is permanent..you need some oil on your face tho..it can give a healthy glow, prevent wrinkles, and is necessary to heal your skin
