I have been battling with acne since my teens, and now in my 30's and numerous trips to the GP and various medications, I'm now on Lymecycline tablets (AM) and Differin gel (PM). Within a few days my skin felt like it was dryer than the sahara (which I know is expected) but what I wasn't prepared for was the absolutely awful burning sensation I get when I try and put any moisturiser on to ease the dryness or use a face wipe to take off my mascara. I don't use foundation that often normally but couldn't even if I wanted to now as it burns my face and gets clogged up all over my skin.
Is this normal? Has anyone else found anything that helps? A private Dr was happy to put my on Accutane but I'm worried these symptoms would get even worse if I did, plus there's the cost involved. MY GP surgery only has locum's so I've had little luck getting them to refer me to a dermatologist as they just don't see acne as an issue.
Any advice appreciated. Sorry if this has been asked before and I've missed a thread, I'm not very forum savvy!
The dryness is a pain but it's usually manageable. Be careful that your not using alcohol based soap, moisturizer, or makeup. One helpful tip is to wait a half hour after washing your face before applying the differin.
try using cerave moisturizer, it works and it doesn't worsen acne
