Hello I'm a hair loss sufferer who take a full accutane treatment few years ago. Anyone like me please come and look:

Accutane play with our VitaminA metabolism and signaling. for years or even for life as it play with Retinoid receptors, etc.

Now look the recent presentation study that researchers made at the " 2015 North American Hair Research society Scientific Meeting":

"Alterations of Vitamin A metabolism and signaling in central, centrifugal, cicatricial alopecia patients. "

CCCA: Central Centrifugal Cicatrical Alopecia is a slow progressive permanent hair loss.

That CCCA comes from a lymphocytic infiltrate inflammatory. More known as LLP (Lichen Plano Pilaris) , an immune-mediated desorder characterized by an autoreactive, lymphocytic inflammatory process. In LLP, follicular antigens are the target of a cell-mediated cytotoxic immune reaction "

And what is the drug that we take highdose for months? Accutane a cytotoxic drug !!

it's normal that I can't put links? I have the studies links, and what is exactly LLP, why altered vitaminA metabolism lead to CCCA,etc

Everyone in my situation, please we need to help each others to find the best solution to fight that inflammatory infection. It's slowly kill all our follicles, we need to act to stabilize inflammation.!! we need to contact to recent researchers that work on this, they will surely help us to find the best targeted therapy against this!

Those researchers are high quality, and it's clear our vitaminA metabolism and signaling are altered, and for those like me who loose a lot of hair we have that CCC Alopecia!! Due to that Lichen PLanoPilaris

Thnaks but I don't success to paste anything , don't understand why

Anyway Here is a topic where there is all the details on why and how our altered vitaminA metabolism and signaling lead to CCCAlopecia. Via this LLP disease, who is an infiltrate lymphocytic inflammation that slowly KILL ALL OUR HAIR FOLLICLES

The pattern of hair loss is the same as AGA!! it can begin frontal temporal, etc... or begin from the vertex and expand in all the scalp!

if it don't work , Google " accutane = CCCAlopecia, you will find me and the topic. Everyone who is losing hair years after accutane, we have CCCA, (with or without AGA) we have to treat it

I believe you can get Cicatricial Alopecia diagnosed via a scalp biopsy. It would be nice if someone had this done to check if this is in fact the case. It seems very likely to me.

I took isotretinoin a number of years ago and have had this problem ever since. My scalp hurts if I put pressure on it by, for example, wearing headphones and my scalp is often itchy/burning, especially when I don't wash my hair... unless, seemingly, I go a long time without washing it. Also my scalp hurts/burns when I reposition how my hair lies. My hair thinned significantly during/shortly after accutane but the thinning has been much slower since then. I took 40mg per day for about 2.5 months (if I remember correctly) before stopping due to a bunch of debilitating side effects that still to this day have not gone away. I took accutane 8.5 years ago and have been living the dream ever since. I guess my hair is just one more thing I'll never get back. I don't know why I even try anymore...

I was diagnosed today with lichen planopilaris. I started my 2nd accutane course in October 2016, was on it until about march 2017. Halfway through I noticed very itchy dry scalp, told my dermatologist, they gave me an anti itch creme and that's it. I noticed grey hairs midway through the course which I brought to their attention. I quit early by my own choice. After quitting I got scalp acne and sores much worse and the itching and irritation increased. This all leads up to today when a scalp biopsy confirmed a diagnosis, which includes permanent scarring hair loss. It does not look bad after my hair is grown out some, but I do have small circles of lost hair. Anything more on this subject? Anyone making progress?? I am now on doxycycline and topical steroid.
