Starting Accutane

Just met with a new derm today. Told her that I have had acne for the past 4 years. I have tried all the antibiotics, lasers, topicals etc. Nothing has worked. She suggested I take accutane. She wants me to take a month of minocycline and epiduo so that I can get my acne to the best point before starting accutane. She wants my acne to be a little less active before I start accutane so the initial flare up isn't as bad. Couple of questions.

What did you find that changed while you were on accutane?

What did you need to be careful with while on accutane?

Any general advice would be greatly appreciated or tips.

I am optimistically nervous. Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end for my journey with acne.

Cheers.

Oh boy get ready for a ride...

On tane hair, lips, face skin..will be dry (expected)

Gentle products only..gentle fash wash/simple basic moisturizer..no actives though my derm told me I could spot treat with BP..not sure if it was good or not as I think it makes skin more red...

Try and pick up Dr Dan's cortibalm for lips (pharmacy can order it for you..only $5.00)

After my face dried our and lips the next body part affected (seems it happens quit often) are hands/arms

I got dry red intchy patches

best thing I found was straight up vaseline

slather it on a few times a day and especially before bed

I am 3 mnth sin and started having problems with my eyes

I dont know if u wear glasses or contact but if u do try and wear glasses as often as possible and use drops if eyes start to feel really dry

Mine actually filled with gunk....I had to see an eye Dr but now use rewetting drops every 2 hrs and ointment at night which has helpd

GLLLLLL

LMk if u have any other speciic questions

kim

Thanks for the responses. Would you suggest anything that I do before I start accutane i.e. moisturize more or something like that???
