I've been on Isotrex (isotretinoin gel) which is a topical form of accutane for 2 months and it is really good at drying out spots but the problems I mainly have are:
- blotchy skin
- large pores
- blackheads
- oily skin
It hasn't really done anything for these things. I have been on it for two months applying it every night.
Has anyone else tried this and if so did you get good results?
Thanks
Demterologist rarely prescribed isotrention gel but use of isotrention tablets is very common nd if you are using isotrention without prescription then you can use adapalene 1% for acnes
I am using Isotrex gel (isotretinoin) with a prescription from my derm. I don't believe my skin problems warrant the use of the pill form of accutane so that's why I'm on the gel.
I also used Differin (adapalene) for 3 months but it didn't work at all.
Hello! Here to give you some advice.. I was on isotretinoin gel before going on accutane. Granted I had quite bad acne. Tbh some dermatologist would rather just prescribe people topical things rather than actual pills. Reason being and this is with accutane it's because some doctors don't actually think their patients need it/go through all the side effects when something that is accutane only topical solution could actually benefit from. This is what my doctor told me. She also said because accutane has such a bad backlash about it she doesn't like to give it to people unless they have actually tried everything and their acne is awful. Truth be told... The gel didn't work for me.. My acne needed to be treated from the inside out. I would maybe recommend asking your doctor to see of you could be on a low dose of accutane. I know plenty people who's been on accutane because their skin is just overly oily. God... A girl I know was so paranoid about her greasy hair she got put on it. It's all about what you say to your doctor and if they are a bit more laid back about the accutane thing. Good luck!
