So after a month of being on 20mg accutane a day, all of my severe cystics pimples have popped, leaving ugly red marks. So my derm decide to prescribe me an azelaic acid cream to apply on my face at night to reduce to redness.

The problem is, I have read a few websites about this acid and it seems that its not a good idea to use along with accutane. Asked my derm and she said its the only stuff that can fade my redness faster.

Is this finacea?

I think so.

anyway 20mg is a very low dose but its true accutane is veyr very tough on the skin, making is super sensitive

its seems most people do not use any actives while on tane

I asked my derm about this and she said its not that you can't but that most people pt not to because of the sensitivity issues

I was so paranoid of an IB I tired using retin-a (literally a 1/3 pea maybe) on my thick oily skin and it got red and bumpy!

BUT now Im on 60mg and I still spot with BP...I dont know if its the best idea...skin does get red/peel...but i use only a tiny amount

soooo in a nutshell

if your dr rec it, it might be worth atry because u are on such a low dose on tane

BUT finacea, IMO, is veyr very drying

I would try to use it eveyr other night and maybe 1/2 pea for your entire face

Thanks for the fast reply.

During my IB, I also applied BP all over my face once or even twice a day.

The last part when you said 1/2 pea for the entire face shocked me though, I've been applying azelaic cream for 2 nights, each time with the amount equivalent to 4 pea-size..... Now I know why my face is getting redder.
