Kim awesome to hear you don't have to ditch tane!!

I was pretty worried I was going to see a really depressing message after your doc trip.

Coffee welcome back!

I just got back from derm and got script for month 4...

Tell me about it Derp!

They had me wait 45 min, I was a nervous wreck and she was looking in my eyes forever!

time stood still

so hoping the routine she gives me works

she was insistant that increases my dose back up to 60mg or even 75 mg wouldnt matter (but i cant help but think more meds is going to make my eyes drier=more problems)

HOLY crap

mnth #4

Derm have anything interesting to say?

I know she/he was very realistic about tane results/timing

Kim

she was just like "look this is the name of the game...tane can work very slowly and even after it is effective in stopping new acne you'll have marks for a while so be patient". I asked her about by big ol brown patch too and she said it's severe dryness but (and this is interesting as I haven't heard this from anybody else really) I shouldn't put any moisterizure on it because dryness is part of the treatment....then she started talking about chemical peels if there are still marks down the line six months after tane (I'm telling you my face is a wreck) and I seriously said to her "stop! I don't want to think that far ahead it will bum me out".

"

blegh I'm sick of being patient and a patient....I'm sick of being a patient patient!!!

U have REALLY been patient..I have to give you that!

guess we will just be a sorry sad bunch today

My face is RED and I have a few weird red mark..they are not exactly flat..not exactly breakouts or pimples? IDK!???

Im trying to focus on all the sotires of people after tane that say it was the best decision...and now skin is amazing

I knew of the side effects of IB and dryness etc

BUT , maybe I focused more on the good things, because I wanted too

I knew this would be a tough road but 3 mnth in feeling a little beaten down

To think Ill need to do stuff after tane to erase the damage it caused..not making me feel peachy right now

I've read about people not getting clear skin until the end of the treatment, and the red marks and scars are supposed to heal good even 6-12 months after we finish. Not very helpful, but hang in there - it will get better! Strange thing thou, that the messages we get about moisturizing are so different.

I'm having the worst red things on my skin after my (small) IB. Don't think they will ever go away.. . Perhaps with laser (lazer?) sometime in the future?

Kim:

Glad you could stay on the tane for now, but glad she would see you back in a while- you can't be too careful! hope the eye-thingy just goes away by itself after a while.... .

I'm using different products from Decleor (their oil cleanser really is lovely!), and creams from Matis. I see that I'm all dry today, but that might be beacuase I ran out of foundation (Dior forever) and had to use an old one from Carita. Not sure if we have the Cortibalm here, but I've tried almost everything else, from Loccitane, Clarins, Lancome, REN, aquaphor, different skin brands like Decleor, and the lanolin which is for sore nipples when breastfeeding. Yeah, I've tried it all.. . The shea butter-thing eith Elizabeth Arden eight hour balm on top seems to be the best, but have to apply every hour, and my lips seems to be getting even drier... .

Noticed today that I'm starting to get somewhat transparent. The skin on my body shows all red marks I've ever had, and with some strange voilet marks on my arms. Just transparent. Good thing it's winter and I can wear thick clothes :)

Have any of you been told to take Milk thistle while on the tane? i've read several places that it's supposed to be good for the liver, but not sure if I dare to try... .

btw; I thought I had taken 6000 mg in 10 days, but of course it's more like 5000 mg, so I'm just a tiny bit past halfway... .

Stay positive folks!

Oh, I did get a huge pimple on my leg today.. . That's a first for me..

I have the red marks which is not pimples or scars or anything I know of as well. It has kind of stayed like that after my IB, and I've been waiting for it to develop into a huge cyst or something, but no. Apparently things will change dramatically in month 3 and 4, so by Easter we will be happy we started this journey after all :)

Haha, Kim! I'm just SO glad it's winter, so you don't look like a strange person wearing long sleeves in the heat :) I wonder for how long we will be like this?

The cortibalm is not for sale in Norway, but I checked it on amazon, and including shipping it will cost me around 55 dollars, so not sure if I should order it. I see that we have something similar with the hydrocortison, but it's more like a cream which you can also use on your lips, and it's only possible to get from a doctor. Too bad :/

Oh, btw; does anyone have a suggestion what to use on skin and lips when you can' t avoid the sun? I'm attending a cross country ski-race in a month , and hopefully the sun will shine, which gives reflections from the snow, which is bad, bad, bad for the tane-skin... .

CRUD that stinks about the lip balm

sorry

It worked great in the beginning for me..now its OK..better than anything else Ive tried ...guess part of the game

My face hurts

Just to wash it, its so sensitive

ouchie!

I also must have slept funny and have a huge crease on my face that doesn't seem to be going away

Anyone else notice when u touch your face it is so fragile it leaves an indention hat takes a minute or 2 to go away?

and just when I said skin was smooth my left side this am is bumpy looking

skin tight..feels dry..I dont know if that is why or what

but thank you tane for keeping me on my toes

coffee: what does that mean that only the red marks from the IB will go away after the tane but not the one's from before? That doesn't make sense to me...I'd imagine it depends more on the kind of redmark then from when it's from...

No, that doesn't make sense to me either.. I think it's the deep scars that won't fade away and be in need of some laser/dermabrasion, but at least I was told not to worry to much about the IB -mark.

I think the information we get from.the doctors and by reading is so differen. So many inconsistent answers and advice..

Are you extremely thirsty?

OMG coffeegirl

YESSSSSSS soooo thirsty

I dont want to drink too close to bedtime but once i hit the bed and try to sleep my mouth is like the sahara

I also wake in the middle of the night parched as hell!

Ive been taking the HA pills for over a week now

dont think they are doing that much to lubricate my skin and joint from within

well worth a try!

as far as the red marks.its nusts but i have rd marks from Halloween/October that do not look any better

think as the skin sheds or peels that would at least improve

I dont get how the red marks magically go away after tane but thats was im hoping for!!

Im relieved im a blonde but i have peach fuzz on my face i never had before and of course the hair on my head is shedding..go figure!!

I have superficial red areas that almost seem like the very top skin later was peeled off...

Thats sore in the corner of my mouth is getting more red/painful and seems to be headed downard under my lip/raw hurts like hell!

I looks extra dry and red/flaky which I was never before

Grrrrrrrr

Oh plus has anyone had any eyebrow changes!???

Kim: No eyebrow changes, but then I have been saving mine for 6-7 weeks for threading now, so wouldn't notice anything different with them.. .
I really think you should try some different cleanser, and use a toner after the shower! And perhaps colder water? I do look red from time to time as well, but not hurting.. yet? I hope it will get better for you soon! Oh, and btw; but the 100% shea butter and start moisturizing the corners of your mouth. It really helps! I was told by the pharmacist that almost every other lip balm contains silicon, lanolin, petro-something etc etc, and because of that it will not be able to really moisturize (kind of like a conditioner containing silicon, it will only sit on top of hair), and thought I can't say it has made my lips fine again, it most definately has made a huge improvement for the corners. Worth a try. REN has a lip balm which was supposed to be good as well. At least in a easier tube. I bring that on my bootcamp-classes. people must think I'm a crazy person using lip balm each time I hit the treatmill... .

Derp: I think the red marks we experience now is even more visible because of the thin skin, and when we get back to normal a lot of the red marks will seem to have gone? And probably will, both old and ne ones. I suddenly noticed my arms showing like every scar or injury I've ever had, which isn't normal. It's like they have gone milky white and see-through so every red or violet mark ever is SO visible.. .

En1gma: Wow, your skin from January 25th looks amazing!

I remember from the start that one of you where training for a half marathon. Is that person still around? Wondering if I can wear compression socks while on this treatment.

OMG! I'm still getting at least one new everyday and sometimes more than one!! Yes they're smaller, flater and they don't hurt but it really really pisses me off!! They leave red marks and now my face is full of them. I feel uglier than ever. I don't believe they will fade away soon after tane so now I just realize that I won't have clear skin... I will just (hopefully) stop having new acne... **sigh**

My face is drier than ever... lets hope that's because some important change is going on! I hope I'm not making you depressed... Just a bad day for me!

I will not expect any significant improvement before the end of my course I think, so that way I won't get so disappointed to every new little pimple!

Sorry Mary....feel your pain..same here

after my forehead exploded and cleared....I had about 4 good days...but now i am also getting weird red bumps daily

have a new one front and center on my forhead

so odd because when I had the IB on the side of my face around xmas it was completely different..a few HUGE breakouts and not a single blip since

NOW these red marks/bumps have been popping up on my forehead/between my eyebrows for 2 weeks now

*sigh*

...I feel like soaking myself in oil from top to toe. SO dry... .

The rollercoaster of tane. Not a bad saying. I think I will join you Mary about the not having any expectations of good skin untill we have finished this treatment. I was expecting my skin to look a lot better by now, and even though I have been lucky with the IB, the red marks from it are huge, and even a heavy concealer can't hide it. the worst part is that the few friends and family I have told this too - that I'm having this tretament, are like "oh, I really can't see any significant improvement. Is it not working?". Love it!

Anyone want to share if they use a good foundation/BB or CC-cream? I look like I have borrowed my mothers make up for the first time, not having a clue on colours and how to apply it... .

It's raining heavily here for after some days with the promise of spring. I've nothing good to say either.

Good luck with the BW and doc tomorrow Kim! I'm not seeing my doctor untill the end of the treatment... .

...I think peole was expecting my skin to be polished and princess like instantly after telling them about all the bad possible side effects. Have to admit I was kind of hoping for that myself But after having acne for almost half of mine life, there are acne sars and large pores, which may need lazer treatments after this, and there are still some months to go for the skin texture to clear up. Including those dreadfull red marks from the IB. Grrrr...!

Btw guys, I came across this, and thought it was good. Might be a bit sponsored by LRP, but still: http://imabeautygeek.com/2013/01/28/reader-question-im-on-accutane-how-can-i-help-my-super-dry-skin-and-lips/
