Dr here are nutty about the in office pg test each mnth as well as chol and pg blood work etc..so that is good and I appreciate the monitoring..prefer to be safe than sorry!

BUT i dont understand why they want to max my dose considering my situation

Thats i great though u dont need to go back..little bit of a hassle but nothing earth shattering hich is why I suggested keeping my dose at 60mg but staying on it a little longer

so u are on a 5 mnth course

1 mnth 30mg

4mnths 60mg

so me schedule so far is

20 mg, 2 weeks

40mg 4-5 weeks (think 4.5 to be exact?)

60mg 2 weeks (so far)

I think 60mg for another 14 weeks would have me in a nice comfy cumulative range, right?

This is the plan i would like to present to my Dr

She initially mentioned a 4-5 mnth treatment plan

so think that is why she wants to push 80mg

BUT if prefer 60mg for the 6mnth course (even if that means doing the last month solo!)

I wonder what the after treatment plan is since u dont see your Dr again

It seems some patients are still given retin-a or something topical to keep clear

guess we will cross that bridge when we get there

Yep, I'll do a 5 month course. I have bloodworks every month and the Dr will call me if my results are not good. I can call the Dr whenever I want if something is wrong. As for the after treatment I don't know yet... I could ask the Dr for a maintenance topical but I am not sure ... People I know who did Accutane never used any acne product since their treatment and they kept clear. I have to research this matter. I would prefer to wait to see if the acne comes back before starting a new topical regimen. I really don't know!!

BUT I have to vent about my Dr office

I cant stand them!

As if acne and tane arent stressful enough..dont need this horsehit!

anyway I saw the PA on Friday for an injection

Sje said she was only giving me a LITTLE and come back in 48hrs if it isnt gone

It was smaller but still there so I figured the right thing to do so I dont pick and scar is go again

This nasty PA looks at me like I am crazy and says you shouldnt ever get a second injection because it will cause an indention

I said I was NOT told that and this was my first injection and that I will just leave..I dont want to make it worse

So she says no stay...I can inject it a little

So talk again comes up about 80mg

I told her at 130 I feel 60mg is a good dose and I dont mind staying on an extra mnth etc

She said in a nutshell no matter the severity of your acne you should be in the highest dose for 6 mnths PERIOD

and based on my weight the high dose is 88.8 therefore I should be on 80mg

I told her about the tane calculator and wasted my time telling her i had mild but persistant acne and it was no on my body..she just rolled her eyes

Regardless I told her I want 20mg tabs instead of 40mg

Sooooo..I get home and the pharmacy calls

and says Friday they got a script for 80 mg..split 40mg twice a day

and today they get a script for 25 mg/2x a day for a total of 50mg

she wanted to know if she was supposed to fill both or one

I guess this is all part of the blessing of acne...i pay 400 bucks a pop.... you have an asshole PA...I am concluding that acne is satan.

I guess I will wait and call the doctor again if I want to go for an extra month.

Ive heard of some people not clearing up until AFTER course is finished

BUT my the PA said I shouldnt be breaking out now and needed the increased dose

Part of me wonders if she is right and I should just increase

Just cant imagine staying on 80mg for the enxt 4 mnths

My lips are bad today and i think I have more red bumps..my skin looks like crap

Hey guys!! Sorry i've been away for so long, back now though.

Updates for me; my skin is definitely better than before accutane, hasn't cleared up all the way yet though. If i remember right I started on the same day as Derp so just a little over 2 months now. Side effects have been really limited, I get extremely dry lips often but just put vaseline on and thats sorted. Also developed dry skin on my arms/hands but moisturiser solves that. Overall pretty happy.

I've actually been off accutane for the past 2 days and won't be on it again until wednesday because my dermatologist messed up my appointment (she had me down for coming in in February meaning I would have gone weeks without any accutane!)

Anyway, sad to see that you're having rough time Kim, but don't think you should second guess. I'm really positive that it will work out good in the end.

although my derm told me not to expect anything significant until after I finish my course, from what I've read a lot of people see imporvment in month 3 so we'll see what happens...

Just got off phone with derm

INSISTING tane wil not work regardless unless bump dose

Agreed to 75mg a day (3, 25mg tabs)

I was sooooo frustrated and defeated I just agreed

I have tons 20mg tabs (because they have been giving me script for more than I needed)

so I can continue on 60 for another mnth

or try 65 or 70?

Now I will have 25mg and 20mg tabs

This is the 3rd Dr/PA in this practice that encouraged me to increase the dose..I guess I would be dumb to fight any longer

I told them all about the tane formula and low dose/mild acne

they all encouraged me for the best chance to get this crap over with to go on the higher dose *sigh*

again I was told this am it doesnt matter the severity of the acne?

well Im going to bite the bullet and try 75mg day

I'm praying mnth #3 things will turn around for all of us!!!

Someone here was super nice and put together a nice little email with my dosage and weight and cumulative dosing and if i go to 80mg and stay on it for 4 mnths..ill be way over the max

so I called my dr office again..they must LOVE me and sent my Dr the email and want more of an explanation

My knees are starting to hurt...I have side effects I can live with for the next 4 mnths

But to increase from 60mg to 80mg..I need more of an explanation!
