I recently started to take a birth control called "Apri" and it made my acne flare up. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem with this brand or any others...? Any recommendations for birth control that did not worsen acne? Should I discontinue or continue (will the body get used to the hormone?)?
I was on Marvelon for years, which I think is similar to Apri. I didn't have any problems with an initial breakout, but in general, the pill didn't really help with my acne either (mild cystic and nodular). If you're looking to specifically control acne with birth control, you might need something like yaz or diane 35, but unless your acne is moderate to severe, don't go on those! You'll regret it when you try to get off them and have a massive break out. Maybe give the one you're on another month and if things don't calm down, try switching to another low dose pill.
