Hi Nuke Acne here,

I just wanted to share my story I'll make this as short as possible. I've had acne ever since I was 12 it was minor until I hit my mid-teens. Tried a bunch of shit for several years until I was 18 that's when I started accutane. It done wonders to my acne, turned my severe acne into no acne. Everything was all good at that point but several side effects remained like it made my eyes dryer, however it didn't effect me too much. 3 months later my acne returned but not as severe as it use to be I used DKR to keep it under control. DKR probally helped but it didn't clear me completely.

Fast forward to 23, I still had acne and it got severe again, not as severe as my teenage years but I was fed up with it. Went on accutane for 6 months cleared me up and I was statisfied. I am about 4 months post accutane now and I am experincing severe dry eyes and developed photophobia(eyes sensitive to light).

The strange this is that during my course on accutane I've experienced dry eyes, but only when post-accutane I experince the most severe dry eyes I've have ever experienced. I thought accutane should've have been out of my system by now. Everyday now my eyes are killing me I can't work, use the computer, go outside during the day because the sun will rape my eyes. Its's horrible.

Tomorrow I am getting punctual plugs. They are plugs that plug up the tear ducts so I can retain my tears longer in my eyes. I can no longer produce sufficent amount of tears to comfort my eyes so I gotta have this done.

I know my eyes will never be the same because once I took accutane for a full course nothing in my body was the same. My eyes, my skin, my oil glands, my libido and even penis was never the same. However, it crossed the line when it fucked my eyes. I was willing to live with the side effects of accutane but now I am not so sure. I use to think accutane was all necessary to help me live a better life, if my dry eyes persist, I'll say it back fired on me big time.

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions for my eyes I would appreciate it.

Is it just the dry eyes you suffer from? Do you still have libido issues? Did you have blood work? Plugs will help if it is not due to sjrogren's type dry eye, if there is no inflammation of the eye etc.??? Did they say you have inflammation? I had severe dry, red inflamed eyes and such bad photo phobia and then got dx with type 1 diabetes (autoimmune) and sjrogren's shortly after Accutane. Blepheritis can be a issue with Accutane victims.

I would suggest taking b vitamins, biotin, Vit D, some victims can't tolerate fish oil, but some have said they are okay, you could try it w/Vit A and no cod liver oil, Magnesium, also stay away from acidic foods, like sugar, soda, ketchup, tomatoes and so on. check out the dry eye forums I believe one is called dryeyezone. Humidifier helps some!

If you haven't had lab work then get it done! After I got on insulin my eyes were sooo much better! I still struggle with the sjrogren's when it flares, but it is a lot more manageable.
