No it is not hard to stick to eating healthy food. I am more aware and knowledgeable now of the shit I used to eat and the effects it causes. I never want to eat that junk again.
I don't get bored with it. It tastes so good and it nourishes my body. My consciousness is rising as well.
It was harder in the beginning yes. My body was in an unhealthy state and I wasn't so sure if it would work. But that changed quickly.
Transition anyway you can. Realizing how processed foods affect the body should be enough to make you not want to eat it anymore.
Ya I eat mostly organic. It's so much better than non-organic. Slightly more expensive but entirely worth it.

Need some f*cking money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S..
Connor - What improvements have you been seeing?
Was your energy at a real low before you made diet changes?
Cos mine sure as hell is right now! Feel like a 90 year old.
Work is humiliating at best, and impossible at worst.
Also, what good does putting an onion in front of you do? lol
You don't need a juicer and I would suggest against one. Juicing is just concentrating the nutrients/sugars in the fruits and leaving out the fiber. It is more beneficial and filling to eat the plant whole.
Though, if helps you transition, then by all means get one.
My energy is on a whole different level now. I now usually sleep for 7 hours and wake up feeling great, with energy all day.
There are many changes I have felt. Lost nasty weight. Skin is becoming very flexible, like I can pull it and twist it around easily. All my senses have heightened. I am breathing so much better, before I was clogged up and shit. I am warmer. The bags over my eyes have shrunk. Arthritic pains are greatly reduced. Stomach pain and constipation are gone (I'll get pain if I overeat though or eat the wrong food types together). I am much less, well, crazy, violent, and sex hungry (from the chemicals in the dairy and meat I was consuming). The jaundice of my skin has greatly reduced. The list goes on and on. The best word to describe how I am feeling is natural.
It is amazing to me how much I have healed just from changing my diet plus a little exercise. It's going to be awesome once I start my new job (dishwasher dude) so I can experience the strength of my 'new' body!
And peeling an onion will get the face 'flowing', eyes watering, and the nostrils opened. Onions smell so good!
2 months ago vs now. Wow...

Wohhh, the hair's gone.
I think the new look is pretty good.
I dare you to lose the beard.
I think juicing is meant to be good because you can get large quantities of horrible tasting stuff, like kale, together with cucumber, apple and stuff.
It's like one big power drink that easer digestion.
I'd likely just have one in the morning with my eggs for breakfast
Smoothies are awesome, but they definitely require lots of money
I love how excited you get about the smell of an onion
I think I understand your frustration. I found this interesting. http://www.thedailyb...-afterlife.html For more on NDE's and clinical evidence of life after death, here is a good documentary on Pam Reynolds case.

Hey,
I've been reading the whole thread and want to contribute my experience and story. I'll make it rather short but will probably write a longer story in the negative accutane experiences thread. I took Accutane for about 13 months 5-6 years ago at a low dose, don't exactly remember and had rather light sideeffects (chapped lips etc., nothing mental) My Acne was cleared and I was happy as far as that goes and didn't have any sideeffects after the treatment that I noticed. A year later I moved out and started working 8 hours a day and noticed a lack of energy. I just couldn't do with 8 hours of sleep a night and needed sleep immediately after work, which then resulted in a screwed up sleep schedule (4 hours after work, 5 hours before work.. different every day). THe work was a bit stressful but nothing major..
I started reading about nutrition and modified my diet. About 2 years into it - literally overnight - I felt absolutely amazing. Woke up at 5 am, felt refreshed after 3 hours of sleep and had energy the whole day and for the next two months. Then it stopped working. That was 2 years ago. I tried to imitate it and did experiments, eliminated factors etc. ... had some success for a day or two, but nothing worked consistently. About one year ago, a lot of the symptoms started to get worse progressively until now, with ups and downs. Among them constipation, heat intolerance, need 10 hours of sleep and not feel refreshed (I feel refreshed now but still need 10 hours ^^), bloating (not anymore), slow thinking and slow speech, anxiety, heartpounding and palpitations, exercise intolerance (i.e. exhausted very quickly), no hunger, almost no thirst, light numbness occasionally in the right arm.
That sucks badly, but could be worse. It also varies strongly depending on sleep quality and diet as well as psychosocial things like laughing a lot or flirting. It's not easy though . Interestingly, when I feel bad -> introverted, anxious, no emotions. But when I feel good -> more extroverted, uber self-confident, making jokes all the time. It is as if half my personality just depends on what I ate the day before..
It took me a long time to even think of Accutane as a possible cause. I must admit though that I have been quite introverted, passive, underweight and not very emotional (i.e. schizoid) for the first 17-18 years of my life. I have changed alot since then and have been an entirely different human during this period when I felt amazing. Therefore, even if I am genetically predisposed, I know I can be "cured", adopt an awesome personality and life without even trying. My self-efficacy is sky-high and feeling one day of awesomeness is enough to keep me motivated for months .
So what did I do/try? Bloodwork 2 years, 3 years and 6 years after Accutane says: Thyroid levels are okay (my mother and grandmother had thyroid issues). Liver Enzymes are elevated at the moment (AST at 117 or so), but have not been elevated 2 years after Accutane. I have to make another appointment to get more information and diagnosis options. Vitamins and Minerals have been checked to some extent and show no deficiencies. Especially Vitamin D was tested for rather high (40 something) considering I spent most of the time in front of the computer and in the bed . Testosterone was good, free Testosterone was not tested though.
I tried a lot. What did work?
- Niacin Megadose. First time I took 1000mg, I felt cured. Completely cured for 1-2 days. BUT I doesn't work anymore, or only for Anxiety/Mood issues, not resolving the other symptoms. I also suspect it to have caused the elevated liver enzymes, although I didn't take that much (maybe 20g over a couple of months).
- Fish (Oil). When I eat lots of fish, maybe about 10-20g Omega3, I wake up relaxed and with a good mood, really feeling how the inflammation has cooled down. Somehow it doesn't work all the time. Don't know if supplements do the job.
- Lots of Olive Oil with high phenol content. This is what I did (among other things) when I felt amazing. For breakfast: A few tablespoons pure and another few with some bread (it's not nasty if it's a good olive oil). There are definitely other factors involved though, which I am currently testing.
- Fresh Turmeric Root (not the powder). Same effect as fish oil, just stronger. Super refreshing sleep and the first time I ate a few roots, I had more vivid dreams in one night than normally in one month. I can get it quite cheap in my local health food store. Indian/Asian stores should have it, too.
- Laughter. Seriously, it helps a ton. Although it is nearly impossible to create some for myself when I feel like shit, you can always watch comedy or something.. or just have a funny friend
.
- Social anything. Flirting, sharing, donating, communicating, it makes a big difference. Something about oxytocin. I have to read more into it. Of course it's difficult with the anxiety..
- Create. I occasionally make music and have made a lot more in the past. It absolutely helps, although it is much more difficult to find the energy and inspiration when you're feeling like shit.
What I think probably helped:
- Lemon. Being extremely exhausted, I craved lemons and just ate 4 of them lol. I felt quite good immediately after it and for the rest of the day and part of the next day. Exactly imitated my food and activity schedule (I have a diary) and it didn't work again. Damn .
- Bell Peppers (Paprika). Testing them currently.
- Chili Peppers. Felt completely cured after a heavy meal of those, but wasn't able to repeat it. Probably just due to a faster metabolism. Now they just dry me out.
- Enough Fat. Animal Fat especially, but Olive Oil does the job too as far as I think at the moment.. without it I'm just even more anxious and depressed
- Coconut. Awesome for boosting libido, but I haven't had problems there to begin with.
What worsens my symptoms:
- Heat (anything above 15° really. Summer sucked)
- Exercise
- Stress (in any form, loud noises etc.)
- Caffeine (although short-term benefit)
- Chocolate (short-term benefit)
- Milk (congests me in a weird way). Most cheese is fine and actually gives me more energy.
- Not eating for a long time
- Eating too much fat without eating lemons to it. If I have lemons (and I also add koriander), then I can easily have and digest 100gs of fat at once.
- Eating lean protein on itself
- Eating only fat on itself
- Eating too many carbs on itself
Not a complete list. I tried Taurine (powder and Magnesium Taurate) in quite high doses for two weeks and didn't really feel anything besides sleeping even longer haha, so.. I think I'll just use it up, won't do any damage I guess.. also tried NAC, ALA, Vit C, B6, Iodine with Selenium and the other stuff, just chucking the pills... didn't feel anything from it. I will probably use them up, but I don't know.. dietary changes have such a huge impact. If those supplements did anything, wouldn't I at least remotely feel a difference over two weeks? Also Vit B12: Took 10mgs of the highly absorbable form sublingually and didn't feel anything. So I discontinued because that gets expensive . I also tried the liver flush once a few weeks ago, had some soft "stones", it was nasty ^^, and I didn't feel anything besides the relief from cleaning your colon.
In the past I adhered to a paleo-like diet, it's called the Bulletproof Diet (google will find you something) and concentrates on minimizing food toxins, maximizing micronutrients while getting 50-70% from fat and the rest from protein/carbs. It is basically Meat/Fish/Eggs (+Healthy Fats) + (starchy) Veggies. It probably doesn't get much better than that. I felt quite good on it but it is tough to get enough calories, especially if you're not hungry. Not that it's all about calories, but I'm underweight already. I still eat like that with the occasional cheese, bread and chocolate (no chocolate at the moment for testing purposes). The diet focuses on food quality, which means grass-fed hormone-free beef, low-pesticide veggies/fruit and wild fish and pastured eggs as the main parts.
@Connor: I think everyone agrees that getting a lot of veggies and, to some degree, fruits, is very beneficial. I have made the same experience, on days without veggies I don't feel the same. But why? My "theory" is it's because of the Lithium or other trace minerals. If you eat a lot of veggies, you'll get a lot of Lithium compared to chocolate and cookie eaters. Even meat eaters. Lithium somehow balances the neurotransmitters in the brain and therefore prevents depression and also mania. Furthermore, more veggies/fruits means better hydration, soluble fiber and also more potassium.
But: High-quality animal foods provide a great amount of B-Vitamins, Iron and Zinc among other things. The "Shellfish diet" works because shellfish are fucking abundant in all sorts of vitamins and minerals, among them Selenium and B12 where you have only few alternatives, or even none for B12 (as far as I know).
What the hell, it's only theory anyway . Just wanna advise that (raw) veganism is not the ultimate diet. Keep an open mind and don't develop a religious attitude about animal foods. They have been part of the human diet for long enough. Not fried chicken and salami pizza, but like you said: real food.
I am running some experiments at the moment but also have exams coming in a week. After that I will look into earthing as another method to reduce inflammation. I had two beach vacations whereafter I felt amazing for a day or two. I think it has to do either with the electricity (bare foot on earth, beach in my case, nullifies your static electricity load) or the air.
Thanks for reading the wall of text if you've got that far
Greetings
Im so sad I finally ended up on this forum,
Progressive deterioration since Nov '10. 12 month course, thats right 12 months. 60mg:40mg alternating for MINOR hormonal acne. Trusted my derm. What a fool am I.
Skin looked great for 12 months. As did my hair. Now they are both destroyed. Hairs been stedily drying up and falling out, lost approx 8% I'd say. diffuse shedding. Doesnt stop, hand full after handfull every day.
Skin started drying up in may this year.
Tight, severley dry and dehydrated all over ut my face is the worst. I used to have beautiful plump, healthy fair skin.
Now I have yellow, discoloured, parched, dry skin covered in fine lines and deep wrinkles.Eyes are sunken, temples are hollow, this is terrifying. face is in constant discomfort. So tight my eyes hurt in the corners. Cheeks, forhead & upper lip and bone dry no natural oils in my skin whatsoever. My sebacious glands have stopped working?
Acne has returned in July, worse than it ever was. Too scared to use anything on my face and damaged my thin dry dead skin any further.
I keep telling myself this is only temporary. I cant believe this is hapening 18 mnths after finishing the medication.
Nobody can give me any answers as to why the fuck this is happenening. hairloss wont stop.
Please help me I cannot live like this.
Have tried supplements, eating powerful antioxidant foods like asparagus & blueberries everyday. At least 2 litres of water. No relief. have tried hydrating facials, spent hundreds on products. No relief. This is a living nightmare. Nobody understands. having a breakdown, Ive been severley depressed for over a year. husband & family think Ive lost my mind.
Please Anyone???????????????
* forgot to mention other sides also:
severe dry mouth. constant.
sleep disturbance
skin thinned all over body is now yellow - I used to be lily white
broken capillaries, melasma, EYEBROW LOSS - getting really bad.Losing several everyday - one eyebrow is worse than the other for some reason.I cant disguise it anymore, but then I cant hide my hairloss either.
Dear someone, anyone please give me my life back .I loved my life.

It could be very possible that your sebaceous glands have stopped working/dried up! What labs or tests have you had done? Also you say you took it for hormonal acne....what hormonal issues were you having, just in general or from something like pocs?
Anyways, keep up the diet, some have had sucess with dryness from GLA or Hyluronic Acid, Bioton. As for the hair is there a white bulb at the end?
Hi Oli Girl - I recognise you from so many forums.
Dear god I hope not, everything seemed ok with my skin until 6 months ago when it started deteriorating. I never had dryness during my course - or hairloss that I can recall. It started a couple mnths after finishing.
Have tried biotin, EPO, flaxseed, liquid silica, Vit C, Fish Oil ( with No vit A),
I only assumed homonal as I was 28 when I went on it. regular breakouts on lower face & cheeks.
Having other serious hormonal issues now though - same time skin started drying up in April I started growing a blonde beard as well as hideous hair all over my back, neck, etc etc. As with all accutane pisioning - everythings "within range". Thyroid seems ok. Seen an Endo they dont want to treat anything.
some hairs have a bulb, but its so tiny. Others do not. Losing long hair, new hair.
Wont slow down. In Nov its been 2 years...
Has anyone out there experienced the side effects that were dealyed till WAY after treatment?
Im not sure i follow. How long time did it take since you stopped taking, it untill you got the sideeffects?
No side effects while on it?
My sideffects also topped after i quit, but not very long after.
edit: also, the sleep disturbances, have you been checked for reflux and hiatial hernia?.
I feel worse when i lay down, especially after some time, impossible to get sufficient sleep. Lately i have felt there is a connection between my aquired reflux and insomnia which both started on isotretinoin and never went away. Took a while too really feel the connection because the eroding is gradual, but now, really, when i wake up, it hurts badly. Having to sit when i sleep, fun being 25!, not exactly how i pictured myself two years ago.
If you also got the twitching and stuff, take some B-complex and b12(preferrably the methyl kind). D3 and magnesium has helped me with weird sensations also. fish oil also, in big dosages. Dont be too afraid to overdoo anything really, the dosages of poison we have been taking are much larger.
you could also try staying of gluten for a while. I used to eat a whole bread a day, now i get heart palpitations from one slice. Took a long time before i saw that connection also.
Im really wondering if the rest of my problems are down to my damaged stomach and hiatial hernia. Healing my stomach might fix my sleep. My sleep might fix alott of things. Gotta fix the stomach.. Reading about the Collagen matrix. Fucked up stomach, fucked up skin, connection...
All,
I have been having some success with intermittent fasting. I started doing standard 2-3 day water fasts many months back, I then happened to stumble upon a BBC documentary on intermittent fasting.
It's very simply, two days out of 7 you do a small fast, what this entails is sticking to ONE MEAL on each of those days, no more than 600 cals (so a total of 1200 calls over the 48 hour period). It is also important to limit protein.
Essentially one of the ways fasting works is by down regulating IGF-1. IGF-1 puts cells into replication mode as opposed to repair mode, over time the damaged cells accumulate and process i.e. the immune system start to malfunction.
Give it a go, it's easy and will work to some degree for all of you.
The documentary re affirmed things for me and I'm pretty confident if you kept this up for many years you will improve drastically.
I am also trying cannabis oil, but am finding it's too potent for me whilst I work in a mentally demanding job, I do however get benefit from vaporising a small amount of cannabis nightly (with no prolonged affects the next day).
Has anyone out there experienced the side effects that were dealyed till WAY after treatment?

Ok, I stopped roaccutane in Dec'10. Doseage was 40:60 mg's alternating for 12 months. Mild acne.3 months after hairloss began, has steadily worsened. Has become so dry & brittle and just fals out at the roots. minimal regrowth of poor quality, Ive lost at least 70 % of my hair. I struggle everyday to conceal the thin crown, but scalp show on the sides of my head.
So here I am 18 months after & now my skin started drying out - like not a drop of oil on my face. This started 6 months ago. Skin fragility, incredibly poor healing, mottled & discoloured skin. Fat loss on face - really bad, hollow eyes, cheeks. I seriously look like Im dying. Skin is so tight, dehydrated, fine lines all over my face - especially on my cheeks & undereyes. I feel & look horendous.
Dry skin is now all over my body. currently taking vit C, Vit E, EPO, Flax seeds & at least 2 L of water everyday everyday - no results at all.
Ive tried so many supp's, no results.
This is looking to be not only permanant, but progressing rapidly and Im deeply depressed & terrified for the future. I used to love my life.
Suicide seems like the only way out.
Hello Livetoregret. What do you eat?
Hi Conner,
I literally have zero appetite. I have not been hungry in at least a year. Im not joking.
I eat as much fruit & veg as I can...
I eat muesli with berries for breakfast, on weekends I may have some toast or eggs or something different.
I eat a basic sushi roll for lunch usually and fruit and yoghurt, dinner is chicken or lean red meat, sometimes fish with either salad or vegge's, sometimes stir fry etc.
I literally have to force food down, its as if Im always full. I believe alot of my issues are due to mal-absorption of vitamins & nutrients.
I have all the hall marks of malnutrition on my upper body - skeletal face, sunken eyes, cheeks and temples, shoulders, ribs but my lower body is pudgy..flabby legs, butt etc - any fat seems only to go to those areas.
Okay. A good start would to stop eating white flour. And white sugar. And salt. These are generally accepted as poison.
Now for a little less accepted knowledge. I suggest stop eating carcasses. Humans have very long stomachs, unlike meat eating animals, which have short stomachs. We also lack the strong stomach acids to properly break down animal flesh. Eating plants biologically suits our bodies. I could go way more into this but this is the basics of it.
Although you are eating fruits and vegetables, they will not heal you if you keep consuming poison.
In case you are wondering, the information I am sharing is holistic, and comes from pre-colonized Africa.

Thanks Conner - What do you eat?
Your yellow colour has faded so much, I only wish I could get skin tone even again as well...I have never heard of anyone being a duration & dosage as long/high as I have. Therefore my sideffects are truly horrific.
I eat raw plants. It will work for you too. The dose you took does not matter.
Going to bed. Good night.
whats a typical meal for you? Can you imagine? - our bodies are so fucked up now we cant even process a sandwich or piece of chocolate.
I already dont eat alot of things already and have been a fussy eater my whole life.Never add sugar to anything, drink only water. Dont eats fatty foods etc.
Everybody says to avoid foods with Vit A, but this includes alot of veg. How do you go about that?
Protein is necessary to fuel our bodies, how do you get sufficient protein without meat? Iron deficiency is a worry.
Everything I read on the severity of side effects indicate they are dose related, the more you've ingested means the more prolong & intense the side effects

I have found that vitamin A foods shouldn't be avoided. Accutane is synthetic and actually causes vitamin A deficiency rather than simply an overdose because it messes up A/D pathways. My naturepath and I discovered this together. Also, this article talks about it a little bit:[Edited link out] I use natural, organic food-based beta carotene because the body converts what it needs and gets rid of the rest. I supplement vitamin D as well I also take C, B complex, E and K for good measure. All seem to help. I began taking IODINE every day, and I can't stress enough how much this has helped in everything from facial puffiness, calming the emotions, focus and digestion, as well as replenishing moisture in lungs, mouth, hair. Helps my thyroid to balance out big time. The thyroid regulates all kinds of hormonal processes. I also avoid gluten and sugar and dairy for the most part but I do eat small portions of meat and fish for protien and strength. This is a good combo for me. If you are concerned about hair, you might want to try diatomaceous earth. It contains silica and triples the speed of hair and nail growth and makes it stronger I believe. It is natural, inexpensive and it works. In fact iodine costs only about $5 US for a 6 month supply, and the vitamins are not terribly expensive either. So all of these treatments I have found to be inexpensive and effective. More importantly even, they operate on the basic functions of the body that effect everything else down the line. Systemic health. I have spent a lot of time researching this stuff. There is evidence that serotonin and dopamine are affected by Accutane. The link I included has a section on dopamine and goal-oriented behavior which I found relates to my experience with anxiety, depression etc. as a result of Accutane use. Some people who have these issues have had good luck by combining an SSRI with Wellbutrin to treat these but again these are pharmeceuticals that have been linked to side effects that are sometimes long-term, as we well know. Another big factor is where you live. I have recently moved to a city with better weather, near a beach and one that is supported by planet lines that are uplifting. It has made an unbelievable impact on my general sense of wellbeing, for real.[Edited link out]

B12 is also a worry with a totaly vegetarian diet, other than that i think its good, most important to cut crap food that actually doesnt contain any real nutrients, the drug depletes you of a lot of things and fucks up your stomach to leave you stranded.
But the feeling of being full that you mention. Could be a herniated stomach aswell. Just to have a simple mechanical explanation for it, that you can check quite easily.
The reason for the herniation however is much more complicated, but if one could heal that.. The skin is made of the same stuff as the diaphragm. Collagen for example, which is much talked about in skincare products. A surgeon that took a gastroscopy of me told me that if my outsides where that bad, imagine the insides which would suffer first. That was 6 months after quitting the drug, much better, but still fucked up, i wonder how my stomach looked when i was shedding skin at its worst..
