Repairing the long-term damage from Accutane

One other possible theory is that accutane caused permanent damage to a part of the brain that controls body temp homeostasis, leaving it's victims in a constant cold yin state, which causes hypertension. Get the body back to a more yang state with daily yang supplementation such as ginger cinnamon and or garlic and the constant cravings for unhealthy yang fatty foods disappears.

This is from a poster on Grant's forum, but remember this is non-accutane user, I suspect that us accutane users are much worse off.

This is a serum retinol test, standard range (ug/dL: 20.1 - 62.0) if in the States check with Labcorp, they offer it.

I suspect though that above 30 is probably on the way to toxic.

Anyone with acne should get this test, you will be in toxic range, should be the standard test for acne.

Just posted today, someone who has not taken accutane, just regular western diet, 45 is still very high, getting down to 20 probably allows for real healing to begin, youthful serum levels.

Serum VA levels

labs are in ug/dl:

4 months: 68

8 months: 65

12 months: 62

16 months: 45

Wow I'm surprised non accutane people are that high in retinol, again wow.

I suspect fatty liver causes high retinol levels in non accutane people atleast. Resolve fatty liver and you resolve excess retinol.

My current protocol is beet it sport shots, organic chlorella tabs, Paradise herbs full spectrum ginkgo, and Oregon's wild burdock root. Mentally I'm the best I've been in years. Physically the only thing I've noticed so far is massively increased daytime energy. Also craving raw fruit instead of fat like before. Still a ways off from what I'd say is a full recovery, but sticking to it and will update periodically.

The problem is that fatty liver is caused by excess vitamin A, it is a vicious circle. This is why the fatty liver is yellow, its packed full of retinoids trying to protect you.

Actually, fatty liver has many causes. The body uses fat as a buffer to protect its organs and tissues against excessive acids, such as retinoic acid. It's why I've craved fat so much post accutane. Once you restore sebum, lymph, and bile flow with something like burdock root, those toxic stored acids start to flow out of the body. Chlorella helps to restore much needed alkalinity. Raw beef liver resupplies true retinol and prevents burdock induced dopamine loss.

On paper this past weekend's info sounds like it would work, but in reality it simply doesnt. Our bodies are too yin, Burdock is too much of a yin herb, and too high in soluble fiber to be any good to us. And beef liver simply has too much retinol and not enough choline or cholesterol to be any good to us. I'm dropping chlorella as well as it's likely too yin also. below is the current protocol.

Supplements

Organic cinnamon

Will update the board periodically.

Just had kinesiologist session. No problem with me supplementing Vit D and Vit C - more to the point, theres no prob with absorption etc

Well have to address next week but still an issue with Zinc, she seemed to pinpoint the liver as source of issue, ran out of time to work on this today

This is just general absorption as I dont currently supplement Zinc

Just trying to get all these things working to boost immune as much as anything else......for obvious reasons!!

Do you or anyone that's been on accutane have respiratory issues? like annual bronchitis? I have these issues, curious if others have experienced this as well.

Am I alone with this?

Has anyone hair loss after accutane (even a year later)? Or did it change your hair color/texture?

Yes hair loss due to folliculitis, texture is I would describe as sort of coarse.

But is it thinner than before? Mine was super thick and dark-bown and now it is thin and light-brown. But it all happened so instantly. Boom thick hair fell out and immediately thin hair grew back ...

I've lost hair and hair color. I believe it's fixable with daily Ceylon cinnamon capsules. Cc improves circulation to all areas, including the scalp, and it also boosts dopamine, which stops tyrosine depletion, which should restore hair color back to original. Will keep the board updated on the Ceylon cinnamon program.

Why is no one talking Biotin? After using Tane, I stopped sweating. As a result, I dont tolerate heat well. Think sun, beaches, saunas, jacuzzi, etc. I couldnt tolerate a dru sauna longer than 10 min and never broke out into a sweat.

Ive been using 100% rda dose of biotin for a few weeks and im sweating again. Not only that, I made past 30 min at the sauna without discomfort.

No idea what the mechanism is but I had all the signs of biotin def and levels tested low. Accutane was also shows to affect biotin levels by downregulating biotinidase so this is definitely helping.

Thanks Aaron76. But is your hair thinner too? I am so afraid accutane started MPB, because the most thinning happend on top and front. However sides and back also show some thinning. Idk. My dad is 60 soon and has thick long black hair. But I am interested in your progress with cinamon. Ive ordered ceylon cinamon recently. Do you think it is effective to take as powder (like 1 tsp)?

Tj, like the YouTube naturecrazy guy said, i believe the drug is still trapped inside the body due to the microcirculation issues it causes. It basically encases itself inside the body. Resolve the microcirculation issues and it can finally get through the necessary detox pathways and out of the body.

All chemo drugs make the body cold yin, which causes vasoconstriction. I no longer go to worthless doctors, but every time I went to a doc post accutane the body temp reading was always low. We need to create constant increased internal heat, or yang energy, to reopen constricted detox pathways.

Some of the the most popular warming yang supplements are garlic, ginger, cayenne, and cinnamon. Garlic is estrogenic and too drying so it's no good. Ginger is too drying so it's no good. Cayenne is too drying and it irritates the mucosal lining so it's no good. Ceylon cinnamon is very hot, non estrogenic, non irritating, and non drying. It's the winner. Take a look at the below chart.

http://www.herbalbear.com/herbinfo/herbchart.html

3 capsules before work and 3 capsules after work every day, not just until the drug is out of the body, but for life.

Biotin was tried a few times years ago and it had a rotten affect on me each time. It's a synthetic isolate, which for many people does more harm than good. Ceylon cinnamon is a whole food. Will keep the board updated with it.

Wow that is interesting. I had blood-flow issues before accutane even (Raynauds Syndrome). Accutane made it worse. MY hands are now almost always either blue or red ...

Eli sure my hair is thinner post accutane but it doesn't bother me. I shave it all off four times a year. Regular cinnamon use should restore the natural thickness from pre accutane times.

Too many guys wrongfully believe that hairloss is a dht issue. It's not. It's a circulation issue.

Interesting. Ive also read a lot that accutane affects biotin levels but was too afraid to take isolated vitamins again (in the past I did take all sort of isolated stuff and it got me nowhere; and after tane I just believe in natural compounds like herbs, fruit, veggies, etc.). But so glad it helped you being able to sweat again! I think sweating is rly rly important, everytime after the infrared sauna I feel so much happier and lighter for the rest of the day.

What is interesting too (according to Dr. Morse): Heat regulation is controlled by the thyroid gland (and parathyroid). Before tane I would often sweat at night and in the sun. After tane this stopped. But in the sauna i still sweat. Now I started taking a Parathyroid Glandularand guess what, the last two nights I did sweat lightly. So maybe it is not onlythe biotin but also some thyroid or parathyroid issue...

Wow hope this is true ^^ I wondered how dht could affect the hair within one hair cycle so much (from thick to thin; and this on most part of the head). After tane my scalp was really inflammed also (scaly, red, small pimples, ...) ...

I've tried powder before and I feel.like the capsules are far more effective. Organic is important too. Cool that you watch Dr Morse. I love that guy, but definitely don't agree with him about the fruitarian diet. We need lots of yang foods to heal. Fruit is mostly yin.

Ohh ok. Then depending on your progress I will buy capsules. Yeah I buy almost everything organic (if I can afford it).

Fruits, berries and melons baby :D

But he claims to have healed so many from "dis-ease". And I trust him 100%. His personality and actions cannot be evil.

But maybe he did not have an accutane case yet. So it could be that fruitarian is not good if you want to recover from tane. But then again why are you so certain that the TCM view on things (ying/yang) can cure us from tane?

Also, have you tried the fruitarian diet and for how long? I am (not a really strict; always had some cooked food and veggies inbetween) mostly fruitarian for 6 months now. And I experienced two healing-crisis, where one showed the same eczema on my belly that I had during tane the whole time. And daniel recovered on a fruitarian diet (although water fasting may have contributed a lot). So I would not dismiss the fruitarian diet so fast.

Anyway, I love the effort you put into research and this forum! Thanks :)

Dr Morse is a smart guy, a nice guy, but he's a bit ignorant about the food groups. Any guy with decent testosterone levels has meat and dairy in his diet. Any guy who lacks meat and dairy likely has low T. Saturated fat is huge for testosterone. I've always had an enormous appetite for saturated fat post accutane. Too many men don't follow their natural instincts. They listen to what others say, instead of what their body says.

Vitamin A is necessary for fat absorption. Fat malabsorption occurs with inadequate vitamin A. Accutane causes this. Remove accutane with increased internal heat and circulation and true retinol levels naturally will rise, and the fat cravings should resolve.

I'm certain about yin yang theory based on personal experience. Take burdock root. It's a very yin herb. And everytime I've tried it it stimulates a massive dopamine loss. Cinnamon, garlic, ginger have all had positive effects for dopamine. Also, I crave yang foods. I despise yin foods.

I actually felt a physical restructuring of my brain the first time I popped 3 cinnamon capsules. Not an unpleasant feeling. It felt like things were shifting back into place up there.

Dr Larry Wilson is a better doctor to follow, in my opinion maybe the best out there. Dr Morse I love, but watching him to me is more a form of entertainment. And I don't believe Daniel for a second that he ever took accutane. Ive got him pegged as a guy who thinks the fruitarian diet is a universal solution for all humans and all health issues. It most definitely is not.

Ok, yeah maybe Dr. Morse is a bit ignorant but his method seems to be successful, according to all the YT comments of people who are recovering or have recovered. Also a plant-based diet seems to very healing for many people, given that it is basically what people like Dr. Sebi and Dr. Arnold Ehret tought (this might be a very coarse statement, given that there are other things to consider like fasting, etc.). Also if you look up [removed] on Instagram he shares healing stories of people who have recovered basically just eating plants, nuts and seeds. So no meat and no dairy. Anyway, I do not want to start a new discussion here about diet and I am open to things like Ayuverda and TCM, etc. After all, no human can say what the best general diet is. One has to try and see how he feels. Just saying that plant-based seems to be very healing for many people.

So you say that we have too less Vit A in our bodies? Always thought that we have too much and that is causing problems.

Very interesting about burdock root. I too have ordered burdock root two weeks ago and felt kind of depressed since drinking burdock tea. I was getting happierbefore thatand also developed more gratitude. The last week was hard to show gratitude. So that might rly be the burdock root :O.

Haha, wanna have my brain restructuring too. Ive ordered cinamon last week because I craved it. Your ying/yang theory might rly be a big deal man.

But I have to defend Daniel. I can guarantee you he is legit. Just trust me on this one. I dont know about his tane dose though. Maybe wasnt that much.
