Your way of thinking is correct. Fibrosis takes many years to happen but on the other hand we got symptoms as soon as 10 days from starting the medication. So what is going on?
I believe that the answer lies to the fact that in order to metabolise hormones, Oxidative stress takes place.
So my answer is that In effect your body does not metabolise and use hormones correctly. That has the immediate effects we are seeing.

But here's a little update from my side of things.
Watching this video, a few observations. Your thoughts are very well put together and collected. I was looking at your apparent overall health.
Your skin looks pretty good, your eyebrows full and thick, your hair had a good sheen to it and not noticeably thin. your teeth were very pearly white and your tongue seemed a healthy pink tone with no coating, and based on your speech, no indication of dry mouth.
Looking at your pupils your eyes seemed in good health as well. Not overly dry or bloodshot.
I say this because these are some things to feel pretty good about.
The way you articulate and your pace I dont see a lack of cognitive function or slow thought process.
So whats really holding you back?
You appear to be the healthiest accutane spokesperson ive seen.
What are you really looking to fix?
Are you taking any drugs or supplements atm?
Do you feel post accutane youve learned to do more with less?
Do You feel like your not reaching your full potential?
Thats how I feel. A quote from one of my favorite movies, "wasted talent"

Literally just walked out of Naturopath, tests indicate no Thyroid issue, we are now treating the liver.
Shes made up a concoction which has all the usual stuff such as milk thistle, turmeric, broccoli etc.
Shes very knowledgable but hadn't heard of a liver fibroscan, I just asked out of curiosity but she only knows about the ultrasound....not to worry as I'll ask my GP when I see her in coming weeks.
The next blood test with GP will be for:
cholesterol
magnesium
estrogen
testosterone
cortisol
Naturopath said for sure we can look at progesterone but down the track, I dont have man boobs so maybe we put this one off for now.

A very interesting read (paper) for all you Post-Accutane sufferers is here. Please have a look :
Thanks Mario I'll check those out later. I'm still waiting for a result of my liver/GB functionality tests.
Also interesting that the PFS guys are exploring a whole new avenue with the theory that finasteride (and it would seem accutane, propecia, saw palmetto etc) act as a 'progestin'. This means DHT is not inhibited directly, and in theory changes the way people are looking at these issues to an extent, so this could be a real step forward. Obviously I'm hopeful it may lead to some developments finally.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progestin
They can be used as chemo drugs, obviously accutane was initially developed as a chemo drug
QuoteProgestinsaresyntheticprogestogens, medicationsthat have effects similar to those ofprogesterone.[1][2]The two most common uses of progestins are forhormonal contraception(either alone or with anestrogen), and to preventendometrial hyperplasiafrom unopposed estrogen inhormone replacement therapy. High-dosemegestrol acetateis used to treatanorexia, cachexia, andAIDS-relatedwasting.
This comes as no surprise;

I'd kill for my skin to look like his does....oh wait, i already tried that.
This morning I was drivin my car to my barber and was getting an erection out of nowhere. I couldn't get out of my car because people would have seen it so I had to stay in for about 3 minutes. I was feelin my heartbeat inside it very intensive and it felt really good. In that moment I knew why I am so depressive all the time. Its because we all are living just for that feeling. I can say just now that we are not fucked up foever, we just need to switch something in our bodys that is damaged by drugs. I will now tell you every single change that happens in the next weeks so you can work with it because some of you really got knowlegde more than doctors I think . Cheers

Hey bro,
I appreciate your comments.
However, let me clarify some things...
My hair is becoming more and more grey. I keep plucking random hairs out when I see them.
My hair was cut the day I filmed this. My hair is thick on top, but the sides and lower back are a bit thinned out and the texture is very wiry. It looks pretty good in the video, but I assure you I have to stay on top of this.
I spent thousands of pounds on getting my teeth straight. I don't whiten them, but a lot of people mention that.
My teeth were not always good is my point. Some things can be improved.
As for my skin, it is fairly good these days.
However, in some harsh lighting you can see my acne scarring quite bad.
The scars aren't very deep, but I'm still very self-conscious about it.
I am using a derma-roller every week to see if this helps - I am hopeful.
I also wear some basic foundation. I have for a few years now.
I don't do so because I like men (haha)... It just makes me look a bit healthier.
And I quite enjoy having a little routine in the mornings. It takes about a minute to apply, and covers the scars a bit.
I take good care of my skin because of what happened.
I tend to use a face scrub daily, and moisturise too.
My tongue gets that gross build up just like you, so I use a scraper every day.
But trust me, sometimes I look fucking dreadful and worn out.
My eyes can look really bloodshot at times.
I find eye drops make them worse.
My mouth is very dry when I wake up, and on some days my brain is a bag of shit.
On another note, I am going to read 'The Brain's Way of Healing' by Norman Doidge as I think Fchawk talks some sense.
I supplement B12 (because I'm Vegan) and will start taking D3 until Spring.
I'm taking some creatine and triphala.
That's pretty much it.

Studies in animal models have established methylene blue as a neuroprotective compound with nootropic properties. Methylene blues mechanism of action converges on enhancement of mitochondrial respiration by supplementing the action of ubiquinone as an electron carrier. Low-dose methylene blue enhances cytochrome c oxidase (complex IV) activity, oxygen consumption, cerebral blood flow, brain glucose utilization and ATP production while concomitantly reducing oxidative stress.
AIDS related waisting ha more like drug related waisting what a joke , the first cases were junkies in the 80s doing strange drugs like poppers and eating anti-life-biotics by the hand full daily take a wild guess why they died . Street drugs and pHARMa drugs thats how.
We really do live in a sea of lies. The primary purpose of pharmaceutical companies is NOT patient care but rather share holder profits. Think $$$$. Anyways if you guys havent already read it read the book Virus Mania , excellent.
Let me put it this way it has NEVER been possible to create a disease with the relevant microbe EVER.
And no no Virus has EVER been properly isolated EVER. Only viral like particles produced from the body within. In other words all illnesses comes from the inside. In Chinese medicine practiced for thousands of years infectious disease does NOT exist , correct . Its seasonal toxicological ( think pesticides like DDT = POLIO )deep nutritional deficiencies and number 1 is STRESS .
So concerning isotretinoin I think the key is to reduce overal stress , I know its not a cure but it will help with the body mind connection. And drink lots of pure water I would recommend maunawai water system simply the best filter system in the world period , did you guys know that pure water has memory as amazing as it sounds its true.
I dont care what anyone says but being chronically dehydrated is NOT healthy for the human body and that is exactly what isotretinoin does , chronic cellular dehydration. Another patented POISON by pHARMa.

Yeah I worry about what I may pass on as a result of tane.
Plus there's no way I'm bringing people into the world who might have to go through this bullshit- it's unacceptable.
The amount of corruption and bullshit must end, I mean these people who make isotretinoin need to fuck right off, they're not my people, it's not how I act or treat people so why should any of us have to be forced upon these pricks?
Thats almost a question for God - send forth better humans so others don't end up caught up in such bullshit - that's how strong I feel about it, this extends way beyond any monetary compensation or lawyers etc etc....like I say the people who work for Roche arent my people - they need to be dealt with!!!
I'm happy to be corrected here but go and poison people then hide behind the fucken walls - where's the responsibility??
You can kind of gather I might be over the corruption:)
Just saying it how I feel about it all!!!
TLDR:
- Accutane, Finasteride, and Saw Palmetto all have the same side effects profile
- They are all 5 alpha reductase inhibitors
- some people (us) get bad side effects from these 5ar inhibitors that worsen upon discontinuation
- I think I have had success recovering by going back on a 5ar inhibitor: beta-sitosterol
- I have done this by eating 2 avocados a day
- Also, beta sitosterol is not the active ingredient in saw palmetto (0)
Hey all, long post, sorry,
This is my first post and you all got yourself another sufferer right here! Doesn't that make you all warm and fuzzy inside?
Well anyway, I hope you do not mind my bad humor to much as I am hopefully here bearing some good news. I don't want to derail the thread but I have been waiting weeks to post because I have recently had some recovery from this nightmare, recovery that I attribute to something specific and want to share. Hopefully it turns out to be something you guys can replicate and not just a flook, but if this condition has taught me anything it is that it is hard to know a damn thing for sure.
So to be short I am nearly six months post accutane, and up until the last month it was just down hill. I will post a short list of my sides at the bottom of this post, but god damn it seems I have/had nearly all of them and moreover I have read so many of these posts as I am sure many have, so just ask if you want details. But specifically I was getting real bad a month ago, just completely loosing my mind. Around this time I really was at the end of my rope, not to sound dramatic. I only mention this because I was so desperate I decided I was going to go on finasteride as I have read two different accutane users who had recovered by doing this. I decided to do this because I had tried so many things without or little succes and figured going back on a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor has got to do something. I ordered some on-line but it was going to take 2 weeks to get here, so I went back to my coping methods in the mean time (which is what my life had come to, coping methods so I didn't kill myself). A large one of those coping methods was and is scanning over and collecting recovery stories on post accutane boards, and post finasteride boards (which if you don't know PAS and PFS are extremley related) and just figuring out how the hell I can get myself somewhat better. Maybe you can relate.
Then, as I did not know if I was going to make it two fucking weeks, I remembered that there are several natural 5 alpha reductase inhibitors I had come across while researching things, and not only that but these 5ar inhibitors I could get on immediately just by going to the store. Namely, the compound Beta-sitosterol, a phytosterol found in plant based foods. So I said fuck it and started eating 2 avocados daily, which are a food very high in beta-sitosterol (150mg an avocado i thing).
And well, that is when I noticed things started slowly turning around. I have come to find out that Beta sitosterol can actually be a fairly strong 5ar inhibitor as indicated by this study comparing it to finasteride in hampsters (1). More so, several recovery stories, including at least two people i recall from here (annoy and connor mcelvain) claim to have raw plant food diets as staples in there recoveries from this syndrome. These diets are diets high in Beta-Sitosterol. I guess there are just so many dots clicking in my head right now and I would like some feed back and would beg you to try this. Here is another shred of evidence, there have been users here who have had luck recovering to an extent using RSO. Well guess what? Not only is weed a 5ar inhibitor through some other mechanism of action besides beta-sitosterol. But Hemp oil (which I am hoping is very similar to RSO) is extremely high in beta-sitosterol as you can find by searching this narley pdf [Edited link out]
Here. Here is a post for anyone wondering what I am on about regarding 5ar inhibitors and this disease we have. If we are a group of peoples who have the unlucky disposition to react badly to 5ar inhibitors, then maybe consuming a diet high in a natural one can help our bodies recover from whatever the hell is going on? I guess thats another theory to add to this all to long thread. Feedback, criticism, scrutiny welcome. I know I really want to believe what I have wrote is true and I may be biased. I also know I have read here at some point users mention they eat avocados (nemesis I think) and these users are still not doing well. Never the less, anyone reading this I still urge to eat 2 avocados a day and see if you get any results.
I will keep doing the same, I am doing other things as well which may be confounding variables so to say, as well as the fact that I am only 6 months out and apparently some people naturally recover, but never the less I feel as there is some substance to what I wrote. Sigh, one day hopefully this can be figured out.

Conducting Accutane Survey
Hi All,
I'm considering talking to a lawyer about Accutane. Scientific studies on its effects seem to go both ways and the water is certainly muddy. Quite possibly it's not the science which is skewed but the hand of money from which the science is funded. I would like to know the true volume of people affected negatively by this drug. Perhaps there are some who aren't aware; perhaps there are some who are afraid to speak up; perhaps there are some who are not sure what to do.
What's interesting is that a lot more adverse cases have been reported through the FDA in recent years. In fact the first twenty years saw 23,000 reports (1982-2002); the following eleven years saw 103,340 (2004-2015). Roughly a fivefold difference in half the amount of time. Coincidently by early 2000s household internet had become commonplace. Perhaps online medical/acne/depression forums became a way for sufferers to realise that there were others out there like them.
I myself have always been pro-medicine, pro-science - generally conservative with my views in taking advice. It was only when I ran out of answers that I too came across similar complaints on the internet. A plethora of people complaining of the exact same symptoms as me. It is a very powerful thing when you can start to corroborate all of the separated pieces of evidence out there. In the first twenty years of the drug this would not have been possible, pre-internet. Perhaps Roche knew that.
My feeling is that the product statistics are very incorrect and the list of side effects has some significant omissions. I've created a survey to initiate some of this information gathering. Please if you have been effected consider assisting with this. I would like to assemble the pieces of the puzzle.
Note the survey is anonymous but if you would like to leave a form of contact at the end of the survey this may help shall further progress be achieved. Also if you don't mind have a think if you know anyone who might be a useful resource in such a process i.e. doctor, lawyer, politician, journalist, researcher, people in high places, etc.
I have created the survey here,[Edited link out]
Thank you for your time,

Here. Here is a great post that explains accutanes connection to 5 alpha reductase enzyme inhibition.
I feel like this post is great evidence that the root of our problems are related to 5ar inhibition.
I dont know if anyone knows for sure if we need to block or promote DHT or if that is the root of our problems, but what I have been doing by eating avocados is basically blocking it. Blocking it again like when we were on accutane...

I have created the survey here,[Edited link out]
Thank you for your time,
MT
Awesome, great initiative!
You could add this to the list of side effects in the survey:
dry nose, nose bleeds
nausea (IBS)
back pain
worsened eye sight
chronic fatigue
Finally I'm back in life. I'm feeling unbeleavble today. My dick is full of blood all day long and I feel my libido again. I really hope it stays that way forever. I can archieve erection just by thinking of sex for the first time in 7 years. I dont know what the fuck is going on but I know that I dont care because I feel strong. Now please pray for me that it keeps working. Will keep you updated.
