Anyone else had their appendix out?!..
Had mine removed when I was 7! Maybe a factor why my gut bacteria isn't in great shape (as confirmed by gastrointestinal tests), and could be a reason why I was susceptible to suffering persistent sides from tane. Gut health, hormone balance, methylation - all interlinked.
Pls explain the test for checking on Gut Health??
I asked if there is a test a couple of pages back. With the gastroscopy I had last year they didn't find anything sinister, that's all well and good and I'm grateful nothing nasty was found BUT that doesn't necessarily mean my gut health is in good condition.
My specialist couldn't offer anything though, once nothing sinister was found he just became very dismissive - to be honest he's prob got people with bigger problems to look at i.e Cancer and growths etc...
But please, if there's a test for condition of gut health let us know??
sup guys... i have a proposal, some of you may not like.i am doing this too btw, so dont think im a dick for suggesting this.
to those guys that have medium - high range DHT or anything but low dht or low t basically, but still have some of the same symptoms as us.. could you guys please try nofap for like a month? i was thinking through how some of us could have the same problems but different hormone levels.. i think one possibility may be porn. because sexual exhaustion can cause ed. and, no offense (obviously this applies to me too), but people that post on internet forums are probably several times more likely to masturbate frequently to internet porn. overmasturbation desensitizes and can even shut down AR receptors, and porn messes with the dopaminergic aspect of libido and masculinity. so, if this does something for any of you with normal dht levels.. the rest of us might be able to conclude that low dht is the issue for us. nofap has not done a lot for me. feels like a 100% disconnect between brain and penis (i have not started my proviron and test herbs cycle yet). for ex, the other day i had seen a very attractive girl i had previously had sexual relations with on the way to class and i immediately got that "tingle" in my penis , like a muscle is flexing just for a second but no erection occurred. this can be caused by masturbating to porn.\
additionally, several posters including myself, ntoed that due to the overwhelming fatigue immediately following cessation of isotretinoin administration, adderall was used.. this further indicates that dopaminergic functions may have been disrupted in areas of the brain responsible for the regulation of libido.
viagra has completely stopped working for me. what about you guys?
also, what other forums do u guys use? is there an equivalent to hair loss talk or propeciahelp, but for accutane? i know about allthingsmale but it seems dead. in fact, a lot of the good places i have found seem dead. its like everybody deserted it and continued the discussion on a new, better forum. however, this thread is not posted in enough for it to be the main area of discussion. so im wondering, where is everybody else? its like everybody stopped after 2013. i am starting to worry that on one of these forums somebody posted a solution late 2013/early 2014 and i havent found it. sounds crazy, but if u look online it seems like everybody gave up or something around that time.
i am absolutely convinced that this is a dht issue. i have recently been talking to this chick that is way out of my league and just cannot get a boner. shes SO hot; she has modeled for j crew in the past. sorority girl from my home town that goes to school in arizona. im so worried about losing her if i cant get it up soon.
SO, here is my logic. i am now 5'9", almost 175 pounds now, work out every day. ok. and i dont have much aggression or drive in the gym. and i also have 0% libido, almost 0% erectile function at this point (i think sustain alpha made somethign worse.. or i am having some kind of estro rebound rn). BUT, SOMEHOW i am still gaining muscle at a very fast pace, despite that ive now been lifting a lot and consistently for some time.
i looked into this and whats nuts is that muscle cells really dont respond significantly to DHT. they respond to plain ol testosterone. but pretty much every other function in the body associated with masculinity uses DHT, not testosterone. so the fact that i am having great muscle gains, but every other function of testosterone/dht/male sex hormones is lacking, is further evidence--at least for me personally--that i am dealing with a dht deficiency.
remember my dht is 20. TWENTY. my labs range is 16-79.. and they regularly test elderly men. so this is nuts. my dht is like im 85-100 years old.
i am seeing an endocrinologist in about a month and will likely go on andractim if my previously explicated and cdnuts influenced protocol is not successful. if this is the case and i find myself successful, i will likely not come back here. if i stop posting i have successfully used topical dht. just wanted to let you guys know in case.
also, i have some good news to share with you all. if you have kept up with my posts, you know that i originally had gone to an extremely difficult to get into, ivy league school before i took this poison. i attribute my transferring from the school due to difficulty and mental issues to an impairment of cognitive ability directly caused by accutane. the school acknowledged that accutane had done something negatively to my body because they ran hundreds of blood tests and such and found significantly elevated inflammatory markers and calcium even several months after stopping the drug. they believed me, essentially. so they let me take a medical leave. a lot of kids take medical leaves for drug problems and such. pretty common at a school with a lot of people from privelege dbackgrounds.
anyway, i have applied for readmittance and was accepted to go back next year. i still anticipate it will be extremely difficult, however, i believe my confidence in doing this is a sign of some degree of recovery from the fatigue, mental status, and cognitive issues associated with accutane.
alright guys i think ive made a pretty big breakthrough. as long as this hasnt been posted before.. i dont think it has.
check this out: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3165946/
"Phytol (Table 2) is a diterpene (McGinty et al., 2010), present in cannabis extracts, as a breakdown product of chlorophyll and tocopherol. Phytol prevented vitamin A-induced teratogenesis by inhibiting conversion of retinol to a harmful metabolite, all-trans-retinoic acid (Arnhold et al., 2002). Phytol increased GABA expression via inhibition of succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase, one of its degradative enzymes (Bang et al., 2002). Thus, the presence of phytol could account for the alleged relaxing effect of wild lettuce (Lactuca sativa), or green tea (Camellia sinensis), despite the latter's caffeine content."
alright. thats nuts.
ok so while its talking about teratogenesis.. keepin mind that a terpene called PHYTOL which is present and in a very high concentration in RSO, from which 7/12 of the recoveries have used as an oral therapy, INHIBITS THE CONVERSION OF RETINOL TO A HARMFUL METABOLITE, ALL-TRANS-RETINOIC ACID.
thats insane!
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11896294
also, an important gene in that pathway..rs12934922 .. is messed up for me!
If youve got one T inrs12934922, I wouldnt worry. If youve got TT inrs12934922then you should get real vitamin A, but its not as significant asrs7501331..
i am TT
https://selfhacked.com/2014/12/22/importance-real-vitamin-retinol/#Alcohol_Depletes_Vitamin_A
so steroids may provide SYMPTOMATIC RELIEF, but if you are looking to actually fix yourself.. looks like rso is the way to go. looks like im making some tomorrow !
ok guys did i just maybe figure this whole thing out or WHAT holy shit read this link im freaking out rn
[Edited link out]
omg guys im reading more and more about this and i think i seriously figured it out.
Phytol and/or its metabolites have been reported to bind to and/or activate thetranscription factorsPPAR-alpha[10]andretinoid X receptor(RXR).[11]The metabolites phytanic acid and pristanic acid are naturally occurring ligands.[12]In mice oral phytol induces massive proliferation of peroxisomes in several organs.[13
ok so if
THE ONE THING THAT HAS WORKED FOR MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAS ONE OF ITS PRIMARY CONSTITUENTS WITH SUCH A RELATIONSHIP TO RETINOL, RETINOIC ACID, VARIOUS METABOLITES OF ACCUTANE AND VITAMIN A RECEPTORS, AND CAN INHIBIT THE CREATION OF A METABOLITE NATURALLY PRODUCED IN THE BODY.. IS THIS NOT POTENTIALLY THE ENTIRE SOLUTION? I am ecstatic.
and sustain alpha contains phytol as well? get outta here.
@TrueJustice The test I took is this one from Genova Diagnostics.
https://www.gdx.net/product/comprehensive-digestive-stool-analysis-with-parasitology-cdsap
A lot of the PFS guys have taken the same one, and everyones has come back with indicators of poor gut health. One consistent thing is everyone tested (15+ results that Ive seen, mainly from a thread on SolvePFS) has No Growth for the Lactobacillus species of good bacteria. Here are part of my results
Also its worth noting that for 8 months prior to that test I was taking a daily probiotic with that strain, but clearly its not helped. Since getting the results I really hit the gut health thing hard with various probiotics such as Prescript Assist, and for my lack of beneficial e-coli used Mutaflor (which has to be transported in a refrigerated container), along with L-glutamine powder, kefir milk, kefir water, coconut water kefir, sauerkraut, kombucha, green banana flour (source of resistant starch), gluten free, digestive enzymes and a couple of other things, but besides the kefir milk seemingly improving mental clarity (maybe down to it being a good source of active folate), I cant say I noticed anything ground breaking, however Im trying to stick with a number of these things (along with a diet avoiding refined sugars, processed foods, omega 6 fats)
My tests also show some other strange things like no detected triglycerides and cholesterol.
@Weltschmerz47 I did 60 days of nofap last year but didnt notice much from it to be honest, and my DHT is high (very high, 50% over the top of the range), although its some time since i was last tested. Someone said they got a benefit from 90 days of nofap taking l-tyrosine and dl-phenylalanine, so I'm going try that as I've not used dl-phenylalanine before. (see post from iamme below);

Just checked my 23andMe and for both those SNPs Im T and +/- for both
Yeah Allthingsmale is dead, and the mods tend to be a bit heavy handed. I just look on this and swolesource which is excellent for info and CD is an active poster there, but I think it'll turn into propeciahelp before long as a lot of PFS posters on there now and they've now created a PFS subforum.

There is a test to see if the small intestine is overrun by bad bacteria. This could lead to poor digestion, bloating, malabsorbtion of proteins, carbs, ibs type symptoms, fatigue, etc.
Probiotics have not been proven effective for sibo, in fact could be harmful.
The most reliable noninvasive test for this is called a hydrogen and methane breath test. It takes at least 2 hours and is normally done in a hospital. I'm trying to think if anyone on this forum got this test and tested negative.i do recall a few testing positive though. It would be good to rule this out

No but my gallbladder has been removed.
I've had both my appendix and gallbladder out (both after having started Accutane). I wouldn't be surprised if their absence exacerbates or plays a factor in all this.
Who here has tried fasting? I have heard from a few people on message boards that this works really well, and was able to cure the motivation issues that they had, as long as they fasted for at least a few days. This wouldn't surprise me as you could probably rewire your dopamine reward system by taking away something you need for a long time. (This would explain why some people have been able to recover after no PMO for like 3-4 months)

I had this test, tried xifaxan but it helped just a little for a few days. It seems that sibo it's extremely hard to eradicate. I have digestive problems for almost 6 years, I tried many things, including all possible probiotics and it's true, they never helped even a little. I never took accutane, but had many courses of antibiotics(for acne of course)
I've received strong indications to the effect that I should stay away from AIs and go straight for TRT. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I figure you guys might want to read into it:

In regards the the recent posts;
No parts of my body have ever been removed.
I doubt Cannabis is a magical cure for us. My two genes to that effect are 1/2 T.
I've tried DHEA to no avail, and would not recommend playing with it unless you're old.
I practice 16/8 intermittent fasting daily. I think it helps, but to think that it cures.. nah.
Found this article and thought it was interesting.

Yea, I'm gonna try it. I mean I fast sometimes but never for a longer time than one day, even less than 24h... I want to help myself with this SIBO thing mainly, not to cure it but help it a little. Even after shorter than 24h fast I felt after that with more energetic. It's worth a try, fast cost nothing(well even less, because you don't have to buy food you normally would buy ;p) and is not dangerous. I mean sure, few days from a start can pose a some minor threat so it's better to start slow like me - just fast one day, then in I don't know next week or two fast a little bit longer than day and just check how you feel

That's just one guy who suggests to go straight for the TRT. I totally believe TRT will fix your issues (as long as you stay on it) and that choice in the end is totally yours. But I'm looking for a permanent fix, not a crutch that you have to use for the rest of your life. But like I said, in the end choice is totally yours. Perhaps doing a T steroid cycle followed by PCT would work better than just regular PCT. I haven't used Anastrozole probably long enough, and I'm already off of it mostly because I really wanted to start bulking up and take Ostarine again. But so far being off anastrozole for 3 days didn't give me any rebound (perhaps too early) and a couple days ago I started ostarine which makes me sort of fatigued. But for the most part on the AI I was feeling pretty good and cheery. If anyone does go for an AI though just do small dosage, don't nuke E with 1mg/day for 2 weeks like I did. I already had shitty joints and that probably didn't help. Low dose long term would probably be the better option. I did something like 1mg ED for 2 weeks then 0.25mg EOD for like a week and a half. Once I finish my Ostarine cycle I'll go back on anastrozole low dose for maybe 2 months see how that goes.
I apologize for not getting my bloods tested after anastrozole before starting ostarine. :S

This is a really good find.

About 3 weeks into using 1 pump a day I developed gyno, and ed came back, as well as fatigue, weird bowel movements, etc. This is absurd - there's an AI in sustain alpha. my reaction to sustain alpha speaks VOLUMES about how it issurely our hormones that are messed up.
obviously our hormones are messed up because retinoic acid etc plays a huge role in fertility and such. however, approaching that angle will never fix us.
instead, we must restore our bodies to hormonal homeostasis (i.e., homeostasis PRIOR to taking accutane).
This seems to be a common theme with both Accutane and finasteride sufferers; it's not that it's terribly difficult to experiment with hormones and supplements (at least ones that affect hormones) that make a dramatic, obvious difference, it's that they almost always work temporarily. It's as if how bodies "think" the way we feel now is how we're supposed to be, and will adapt to, and fight, against any attempt to change it.
Guys , im going to ask important question. I was too away from the knowledge you guys have about accutane side effects..
My question is ; why we have side effects hasnt gone for YEARS ?? i have low semen volume for over 2 years now.
Isnt that Accutane goes away in system after 3 months ?! i have read a theory about guts , that thaystorage the Accutane in it ? is this what happens ?
why time hasnt cured us ? Im concerned about my growth and height because i still growing up , i have low semen volume which means this is a hormonal problem , and hormonal problems cause low growth !! (via testosterone , DHT)
Is it possible that i may grow less because of Accutane ?? i just used this poison for 5 days ! yeah you hear right just five days of daily usage and i have persisting sexual problems..
I have persisting low semen volume which means = i have low on T or DHT some way or another , and in past 2 years is it possible that this kind of problem could cause low body growth to me ??
I did theblood tests , but they show up fine ! which like everyone in this topic ! so even tho i did a bloodtest , it does not mean anything no more. Because we see many people who experience very clear low T problems but they still get normal numbers after tests.. Isnt that weird ? where is the problem them ! i concerned about my 2 years of lost growth..
( You can read my accutane story down below )

In my case, Mirtazapine actually seemed to help for a time with the mental effects that normal antidepressants don't alleviate. I originally asked to try it after reading a couple of cases (not that one should put stock into this) in which people with PSSD, which seems like it might have some similarities with our condition, claimed to be cured, or at least recovered, after being on a particular antidepressant, Mianserin. This is not available in the US, but it works similarly (as it's an analog) to Mirtazapine. Taking Mirtazapine at 15mg dramatically knocked out my anhedonia. I felt much better pretty much overnight and caused me to feel much more normal compared to my usual state post-Accutane. However, it can cause severe fatigue, and in my case I had to stop taking it because of this. I don't recommend either Mirtazapine or Mianserin, but I thought I'd throw this out there, since people tolerate side effects differently and it might be worth looking into possibly trying if you've exhausted other options.

If youve seen the recent movie " passengers" ... i think it provides a great analogy of what we're going thru. something is stuck inside of us, and its causing all of our other systems to overcompensate, shut down, restart. until you fix the core problem (retinoic acid toxicity imo) everything else is fighting symptoms.

Then I found this post and made the possible connection to Roaccutan.I took Roaccutan 15 years ago for about 11 months (30 mg/60 kg), together with cortison (5 months).
- what did Roa damage in my body? The muscles, tendons, nerves or something in my brain?
- is it reversible?
- which possibilities do I have to fix it?
- @john86 did you find something that helped you? Thanks a lot for every reply.
By the way, sorry for not answering promptly. As for what it did, that's the million dollar question, isn't it? No, I unfortunately haven't found anything definitive more than anyone else here, but have you tried any sort of weight training? Or any particular dietary or lifestyle changes? I've recently been experimenting with NSI-189 over the last couple of months. I could have sworn it helped with the feeling of muscle tension, but the side effects were quite horrific; I might try it one more time starting at a much lower dose, however.
I may have accidentally fixed my overreactive immune system... I'll write more later when I have time.
Guys i talked with a Accutane Victim. He is a Doctor !! thats a pretty useful coincidance..
And i learned the problem !!! listen me up !
The hidden problem is : ''The dead receptor'' theory which many of people here have already heard that. And this theory explains why we have normal hormone levels while we are having serious side effects about hormones !
He said : Accutane (which is a cancer drug) kills the hormone receptors in the body. With this , your body can produce hormones but it couldn't use it because your receptors are already dead.. Thats the simple abstract of it. Go and search this if you want to know more. But this is it.
We should focus this ALL TOGETHER and solve this. Go and see your doctor please , ask them to this theory and ask them for solve , cure and explanation !
Post your informations here so we can cure ourselves. Please -in this week- go and see your doctor and get knowledge about this receptors. We have to be together , thats the only way for cure !!
Reply this comment when you learned the knowledge about it , i will post my information here too.
Please..
Reply me and this post.We should share to all people and victims , we must focus on this receptor problem !
And for the gods sake can somebody please start a online signature campaign ? about Accutane so they can hear us !!
OK so my previous post mentions that I may have fixed my overreactive immune system but its more than that, I may have basically fixed my bowel/digestion issues.
So about a week ago I ordered two vials of BPC-157 one for injecting subQ near my knee to try and see if I can fix my fucked up knee without needing a doctor. And the other one to take orally as I have quit amphetamines and have read good things about BPC-157 healing dopamine circuits or something like that. I have taken BPC-157 orally before for a very short and inconsistent amount of time and I did certainly recall having a very flat belly (bloating went down). But that was it, I didn't do it long, just to finish what supply I had.
Fast forward to today. This is my 4th day of my BPC-157regimen. I haven't noticed anything yet for healing my knee. But today I can recall the exact minute (12:28PM) that I just CLICKED. At that time I swear a ton of my inflammation pain just disappeared, everything got brighter, I've been in a really good mood since then (currently 4:22PM) my stomach has been growling and digesting/moving around. I've been getting food burps and ripping ass all day (I bet my co-workers hate me). And my bloat is starting to go down. Previously my stomach wasn't working basically at all. I eat food, and sometime later I'll shit, that's it. No signs of digestion (even though it was probably still happening). But now I'm getting gas, burping, feeling really mentally clear, going to obviously continue for the full vial and I'll note if anything else changes. Biggest goal for me is that any healing that BPC-157 causes stays after discontinuation.
Since my morning dose was at about 6:40am and I "clicked" at 12:28pm it makes me think that possibly it needs to go deeper into my gut so I'm going to try a couple times to put it in a enteric coated capsule that takes 8 hours to dissolve, maybe it can do more that way. It does seem to be stable in the GI but perhaps it's being "used up" by the time it reaches far enough, dunno wouldn't hurt to try it in a enteric coat.
Edit: Other potential variables just incase your mileage varies.
I did once again start up MK-677 just last night (for them gainz with my mk-2866) and there is something on pubmed ( I didnt read just saw the title) that makes me believe that BPC-157 interacts with growth hormone. Just figured I'd note that. I don't think one dose of agrowth hormone secretagogue would do much but figured it should be noted that since todays "click" I did add something to my stack last night (mk-677)
8 hours ago, john86 said:Taking Mirtazapine at 15mg dramatically knocked out my anhedonia.
That's actually very useful information. Mirtazapine is essentially nothing more than an antihistamine, aside from its activity on the 5-HT2C receptor. As an inverse agonist on that site, it helps release dopamine and norepinephrine in the frontal cortex. Nortriptyline does the same thing, but has greater antidepressant qualities. Agomelatine also works on the 5-HT2C receptor (antagonist), and is a highly accessible medication. I was just pondering if I should try Agomelatine today. It seems that drugs that inhibit 5-HT2C can have potent anti-anhedonic actions for a subset of people. So perhaps you should look into those other medications if Mirtazapine helped.
It's worth noting I have noticed multiple ex-Accutane and ex-SSRI sufferers praise 5-HT2C antagonist/inverse agonist agents.
