After taking accutane at 70mg/day for two weeks i was forced to discontiune due to possible intercranial hypertension, i had intense headaches in the forehead.

my question is

i had massive improvment in my skin from just two weeks on accutane which suggests i respond very well to it,

would it be safe to take a very low dosage, say 10mg/day or would this still cause damage

im not going to do anything without consulting my derm but i just had a thought about it.

i have mild achne in the face and i weigh 83kg

The headaches stopped after i stopped taking accutane.

Were you taking your pills with food and with lots of water?

In theory side effects should decrease with dose but having a special condition it's best to discuss with a GP or derm

good luck

Are you using a generic brand?

I noticed I constantly got headaches after taking the generic brand tablet, as soon as I switched back to 'Roche' brand, the headaches immediately stopped.

I was only taking the generic for about 1 week (they also made me break out)..

I am in the same boat as you, only I've gotten severe back pain/joint pain. I am only on 10 mg/day but my skin has improved a TON in just seven days. I am wondering about maybe doing 10 mg every other day or 10 mg every three days or something...

Yeah, definitely consult with your derm. A lower dosage might do the trick and you might still get results. Post back.

During my first course of Accutane (Roche brand so I don't think it's any better than generics) I had massive headaches and head discomfort. I never said anything to my derm though and they went away right after Accutane.

Smiley: They're all the same thing. I experienced headaches on Roche whereas I'm not experiencing them on Clarus. Plus the Roche brand is not available in the US anymore (I know you can get it here in Canada though).

Yes I am well aware that no matter the brand, it will still contain the same amount Mg of isotretinoin.

What I was referring too was the physical appearance. For example the Roche brand I use is white and orangy/red compared to the generic brand which was dark red.

It may have had something to do with the colouring that was used, or something along those lines?

Not too sure, but all I know is that I was reacting to something in the generic brand which gave me headaches :).

I wonder how much of the side effects are due to the brandd/genericthat is taken. I have noticed a significant difference with generic vs. brand in many prescription medications. I am on my first week of Absorbica and my headaches feel like sinus headaches with light sensitivity.
