So i have been using it since about october 23rd 2008 and its made my jawline and cheeks break out like no other, every single non inflamed clogged pore i had (that wasnt a problem) became inflamed and red, and disgusting, and now i have at least 30-40 small red pimples on both sides of my jawline.

I havent even seen 1% progress its actually WAY worse...kinda makes me mad. so im thinking of just getting something new.

opinions?

I'm a big supporter of retinoids. It's a very slow acting topical though and patience really is a virtue with this stuff. Are you on any kind of bp regimen for day use? I'm assuming you're using retin-a at night. If you're not using bp during the day, please ask your doctor about benzaclin, differin, or even an antibiotic ointment like clindamycin phosphate for AM application. Retin-a is a great aid for helping you to get clear and a superb maintenance topical in order to stay clear, but I've never heard of it clearing up acne from the beginning all on its own.

I'm on retin-a too... it's just make my skin worse so far.. it's been about 3 weeks of application. Any area i put retin-a the ... the more pimples i get at the spot... not impressed at all...

retin a takes forever to work like literally you are going to breakout for like the first month but it gets better. When I was on retin-a last year it took about 3 months and I was pretty much clear. Are you just doing retin-a by itself or are you using it with a combination of bp and/or antibiotics? oh yah... remember to moisture and wear sun screen cuz retin-a will make your skin very sensitive. hope that helps.

I had a bad experience with Retin-a...it dried out my combination/moderate acne skin and made me break out even more, made me extremely oily even with taking clydamicin in the morning. After 3 months of it and no improvement I started using Differin gel at night (which doesn't really moisturize cause it's a gel) and then Differin Cream in the morning (which moisturizes) and of course always putting an oil-free SPF of at least 15. DO NOT USE MAKE UP EVERDAY IF YOU HAVE ACNE! This is something I had to accept as I got older...even if it has acne fighting ingredients, or minerals, it's no good for acne! If you must put something, use an organic tinted moisturizer, I use Tarte's and LOVE it. I hope I've helped someone. FYI, I've been using Acnezine and the cream and it is the only thing that has worked this well with my skin.

NO! keep using retinA . it works after 6 months. i used to have cysts in july, 2009 then started retinA towards the end of aug. it was unbearable for about 4 months then after not giving up my skin is smooth. and havent had a cyst for a looong time. the key is to be patient your skin will clear up in about 3 more months. try using a moisturizer that is non comodgenic. fragrance free. and dye free (color free). and wash your face with Aveeno Ultra-Calming moisturizing cream cleanser . it is ideal it doesnt clogg pores, its fragrance free, soap free, while it lifts away dirt oil etc. and it moisturizes it at the same time. do not wash ur face with salycic acid or benzoyl peroxide it'll just make it more irritated. also you have to be active, like do sports often because then when your active, your blood circulation speeds up making your skin less irritated. and if you dont apply nothing in the morning, before u wash ur face and apply retin a boil a pot of water, buy chamomile flowers then once it boils put in a pack of chamomile flowers , remove the pot set it on a table, and put your face over the pot so that the steam can hit ur face this will elminate toxins open up pores and deep cleans, reduces irritation, increases blood flow, after that wash ur face with warm water and Aveeno product and at the end whiler ur done washing ur face, apply cold water (closes pores) and then wait 20 min before u apply retin a because if u apply retin A as soon as u wash ur face it'll make it more irritated because ur not letting ur skin produce your "natural oils"

Once you get clear with it do you continue using it as always or can you taper off a little?

You need some anti-biotics to get you clear then use retin a as maintenance to keep you clear. It wont clear acne on its own.

Did you use it once a day or less? Do you plan on continuing it now that you've had great results? What dosage and type did you use?

I am considering this for myself and my son. I would like to use it 2-3 times a week instead of every night to avoid purging and overdrying. Wondering if it will still be effective even though it may take longer.
