The cheapest emu oil I found was here [Edited link out] It has it for $90 a gallon. To be honest I haven't heard anybody using the shampoo but I would imagine it can't hurt. I would still recommend getting the pure emu oil and leaving in for a few hours or though the night. I can tell you for a fact that the texture or my hair has improved in the last 2 weeks of me doing this. I still haven't seen alot of new hair but there is one spot that has grown back a little below my temple area. When I first started using rogaine I actually lost all hair below my right temple in that spot that comes to a point on the left and right of most peoples head. It actually never happened on the left side of my head but this may have been caused by the rogaine. I'm hoping that the rest of my hair will grow back like this spot has. As of right now my shedding is still increasing and I am losing about 50 hairs just from shampooing alone using as little pressure as possible. I count them after I put the shampoo in. THis is from losing maybe one hair back in the beginning of October (I was actually running my hand over my head maybe 10 times with a good amount of pressure and maybe just 1 or 2 fell out total). The funny thing is I checked before using accutane because I knew this could be a side effect and wanted to get a good idea about where I stood before taking it again. I stopped 2 months into my treatment when I noticed I was losing about 15 hairs in the shower total (I was losing 2 hairs every time I ran my hand though my hair). Now I have been off accutane almost 2 months and I am shedding 50 hairs just from shampoo alone not using any pressure at all. I can see my hair between my knuckes, the back of my hand, and on my palm. Now I try to not use any pressure and my hair is falling out so easy. I no longer run my hand though my hair to check. The shampooing is enough to scare me. I just had my 28th birthday and I know I am older and could be naturally losing my hair. But I can't imagine it would have started randomly when I was 27 and accelerated to this in just 4 months time. I don't think my hair just picked the month I started using accutane to start falling out.
I will keep everybody posed on my success or failure. For the people new to this forum don't be scared if you don't read to many successes over the people that never saw an improvement. Just remember most people that improved probably never come back. I promise I will come back either way.
It is very easy to know if you are going to recover or not. If you did not experience scalp inflammation then obviously you will recover within a few months.
As for those (like me) who experience scalp itching, pain and burn for more than one year then all I can say is, is going to be a long fight or even permanent fight.
People this days are very lucky people. There are people to warn them about this and that side effects especially hair loss.
Back then, no one bother to warn me and stop me from taking accutane and now, here I am, suffering from this shit for almost a year.
Max you make it sound like a year was so long....We actually had a pamphlet to read back then that at least gave us some sort of warning unlike people who did this back in the 80s.
Funny though I'm in the exact same situation as you...Its also been a year for me and I also haven't recovered yet but still we can't lose hope.
Max hows your hair though I'm wondering? What type of hair loss are you having and what do you mean by inflamation?Snice I'm about to go on rogaine I will fill you in if I see any improvement as I'm sure our hair loss is near identical with a similar timeline except for the burns.
btw-When you say burn do you mean spontaneous random burn or only when you touch your scalp?
hmmm..I see, have you taken any step to try and fight this hair loss? What kind of loss are you having? The thing with me is that im not shedding any hair as there is no virtual hair loss but rather Its diffused and thinning with a bit of receding.
Its very scary because with my hair loss, it doesn't seem like I'm actually getting regrowth unlike people with have TE who actually have regrowth on and off.
I'm very curious about your case because like I said our hair loss seem to be very similar so if possible we could help each other out.
The bitch part about all this is of course the dermatologist.I can't even go to one without a referral and considering my doctors don't give a dam think its all in my head...
btw-Has your friends hairline receded?
Bro..Most of the guys here (including me) experience the same hair loss as you which is diffuse hair loss with jagged hairline (This is typical accutane type of hairloss). The only difference is, some experience scalp inflammation while some who are lucky enough, doesn't.
Anyway, I am using a product call Ballvic which contains Copper Peptide, Azelaic Acid and Saw Palmetto to reduce the scalp inflammation and hope that it help with hair regrowth.
I have tried what you are trying right now, which is Minoxidil. This shit caused me nausea, dandruff and flushing. You should try it though since everyone reacts to every products differently.

I see thanks for the advice. In the past couple of days I work up and started to notice my eyebrows are receding, mess up shit...It seems accutane is still affecting my body with new side effects.Who knows what other mess up side effect is going to show up years down the road.
I already accepted the fact that I could possibly lose all my hair but now my eyebrows and eye leash looked pretty screwed.Thx god I found this board otherwise I wouldn't know what to do.
Max what kind of hair cut do you have now and do people in your family notice?I think all my family members notice but they are actually being nice by not mentioning it.
Its really a relief getting this off my chest and I really hope that both of us recovers.
Lamarr,
Are you applying emu, jojoba oil, grape seed oil and lavender oil ? at the same time or do you use them on different days?
I use them all mixed together. I came up with a 40% emu, 20% grapeseed, 20% jojoba and 10% lavender. I mixed them all up in a steroid scalp application bottle to enable me to apply them directly to the scalp.
I use them everyday on the front region of my hair. about an hr after using the steroids. I have also upgraded my laser system and i'm pretty sure my hairline won't be moving for a good few years now... I have managed to prevent my temples from receeding anymore than about half an inch or so. I am about 20 months into the shedding now.

Hey lamaar nice to see that your on...I'm wondering does emu, lavender and grapseed oil really help or is it just the steroid? Also hows your hairline doing,is it coming back at all
If rogaine doesn't work for me I'm going to convince my doctor to give me some tropical steroids.
My hair line has receded at least 2.5 inches on both side and continues to do so.Sorry for asking so much questions but its really fraustrating when your doctors don't give a shit.
btw-did your hair texture change at all during the initial stages of hairloss?M
No worries bro. No one here will blame you for asking questions. It is only natural to do that when you found a website and found so many others who have the same problem as you.
Once again, Most people here experience eyebrows lost as well so it might have to do with our own immune system attacking our hair follicles hence we shed hair everywhere.
I usually trim my hair short (not buzz cut) and the only one who commented that my hair look thinner was the barber that I alway went to. But like you wrote, my family members might have already notice that my hair look thinner but they choose to keep quiet, since they know that I am very sensitive with how I look.
You should feel better once your oil production on the scalp is back to normal. Mine is still kinda dry and it takes up to 17 to 18 hrs to feel some oil on that site, and this is why my scalp alway feel tight and itchy. Of cos, scalp inflammation does play a part as well.

lol very funny how you described it.The mess up part is that when I work out even for 2 hours or so, I don't sweat at all...Also my aunts that come over all look at my hair before my face with a moment of pausing in between.
I just had a intense itching session in the past week in which my hairline receded half a inch or so, it really sucks. The thing that scares me the most is that accutane might of caused some of us mpb...My hair doesn't shed at all, I just have resessions along with slow hair growth.
I highly doubt that it is mpb, especially when we don't carry that filthy gene. And yes, I do agree that we tend to shed alot more when our scalp itch.
Hey I was just wondering how bad is your hairline right now?My hairline has receded 2.5 inches or so on both sides.
RIGHT PEOPLE NO OFFENCE BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE SAID
i dont care what scientific evidence crap you all read...men GO BALD...it's a simple fact...accutane is known to cause tellogen efflivum but permamnet baldness NO
dont give me scientific facts and all that sharad
if your a guy and your hairs still nshedding..well accutane pushed more into you going bald quicker...simple as that
(i wont answer or look at my replys so no need to reply)
dont blame natural baldness on a drug cuz thats all it is...a drug..once its outta ya system it will reverse back to normal (as it has for me with accutane and hair-loss....few months ago i was convinced that my hair was gonna go) get my point
Haha, see...That is human nature. Back in Sep 24 2008 he was here asking for help but after he recovered he become another person. Anyway brad, why should we admit that we carry that filthy gene when we know we doesn't? And would you have wrote all this shit if you have yet to recover? Laugh all you can dude, don't come back here crying for help if karma hit you hard. Hmm...
Anyway, The good thing about brad post is, it show the true colour of a human being.

lol "the good thing about Max's post is, it shows the true meaning of hair envy"
mate...i was on here asking for help and realised that there is nothing you can do....baldness cannot be reverased...this thread is ridiclous...you either go bald for good or you don't...npo special cream or oil is going to change that...
if your hars still going max after a good 6 months...then you won't have any hair left a year...NO WAIT YOU CAN YUSE THIS SPECIAL OIL THAT YOU APPLY TWICE DAILY...IT ONLY COCTS 25 POUND FOR A LITTLE BOTTLE BUT IT'S BEEEN PROVEN TO WORK...
and no...you NEVER know if you have the balding gene...it can skip generations...like...my grandad has full hair and hes in his 60's...but his son is bald as a coot...1 of my brothers is bald and he's 21 (partly becuase he wore a hat 24/7) but the other who is 25 isn't bald at all....
and why did that post show u the true colour of a human being...seriously...do you realise how stupid some of ya's sound recommending creams that MIGHT help your hair grow back...if they really worked at all why are people still bald now...most multi-billionaires ya see on tv are bald surely they can afford 600 gallons of that spoecial oil which helps your hair grow back???
exactly

oh yeah and Karma is bullshit...why would it come back to me?
for telling people to stop trying to find a solution to going bald is stupid.
you said worse...."filthy gene"...you just said that people with the baldness gene are "filthy"...saying that implies that you look down on people who are bald...
i think Karma already has hit you Max...that special karma person has been reading your thoughts about people with that "FILTHY GENE" baldness and decided to give you it
lmao sorry but what u said is hilarious...
brb i think i can hear Karma knocking on my door to say thanks

Seriously don't talk like you know so much just because you were one of the lucky ones....just ten years ago accutane was "knowned" to be perfectly safe and now it's "knowned" to cause possible permanent side effects.Scientific evidence crap? How about try reading the ACCUTANE PAMPHLET that comes with the accutane pills?
Your telling me that a drug which causes people to have liver damage and in some cases have their colons removed cant cause mbp ?Oh wait maybe they were all crazy predestined people blaming it on some random drug which was originally meant to battle cancer in the first place?I'm sorry but if this drug can cause all these side effects then simple mpb is nothing to be surprised about.
You sound like you know so much when roch themselves only found out about certain side effects in the last decade or so.With all the dermatologist and doctors that look the other way, it might just take a couple more decades before we know how dangerous accutane is.
Lastly I apologize if I sound harash but if your all cured then why are you here?It certainly doesn't seem like your helping anyone who actually is looking for a way to help themselves.
fyi-If I'm ever cured from this, I will make sure to come back and help the people that actually know what I was going through because I know how down this can make you.
im sorry guys but braddd is totally right, maybe if accutane did cause some hair loss, it proabbly just sped up the process, men go bald eventually. Not all, but most. I have a cousin whos 20 and almost completly bald with no accutane. Look at ur relatives or family members if they have balding in their genes, sucks for u but im the same. If u noticed ur hairline was receeding before the ttreatment, it wasnt accutanes fault

thank you for agreeing
men = testostrone
testostrone = baldness eventually
trhe vitamin (???) in accutane overloads your liver and causes hairloss becuase of excess in your body...it either plays with your organs enough to permanantley cause damage or not....
ask max....it's all about "Karma" supposebly haha

Thats not the point...The point is most of us had no hair loss at ALL before using accutane. Also people who come here saying we have hairloss gene, at least read before u post...Many people here suffer hair loss from every single part of their body after using accutane not just the head..

yeah true...but the POINT is it can't be fixed if that happens...ever
proof is on this board

So?Even if it CAN'T be fixed, what right do YOU have to tell others to stop hoping?Seriously why are you here? You seem like the kinda of asshole who hates life so he tries to make others feel miserable.
Point blank ,this topic doesn't not apply to you in anyway what so ever...You are free and no longer suffering from hairloss so you should be thankful and get on with your life.
Honestly even if I've gained nothing physically from this topic, I know that emotionally it has helped me alot.
Brad you are an idiot i'm sorry. The reason why we know we have something other than MPB is two fold. Most of us experience hairloss elsewhere on the body, and we have diffuse hairloss across the entire scalp. In mpb you rarely if ever get hairloss outside of the male pattern regions.
The hairloss is DIFFUSE ALOPECIA AREATA, AN IMMUNE DISORDER. Look at all of accutanes other side effects and do some deep scientific research, they are all related to the immune system.
And yes there are plenty of things that help this accutane hairloss, again you just need to use your brain and do some reading.
The grapeseed, jojoba, emu etc helps regrow hair without the topical steroids yes.

Okay I understand...but I'm far from an idiot...ya hair won't go back to how it was no matter whatt...that's not been an idiot...that's a fact
I used to be an active reader on this thread because I too had severe hairloss from accutane.
But, guess what? The hairloss stopped, and slowly but surely my hair has gone back to pre-tane!
After reading this horror story of a thread, I thought I was screwed. Starting to look at the possible hairloss treatments, I seen most had a worsening side effect before things got better which scarred me away. I kept myself extremely busy for a few months, and I started forgetting about my hairloss, and slowly but surely, my hairloss of 150-200+ hairs a day, just all of a sudden stopped.
It was weird though, because it seemed like it just stopped over night and my hair instantly looked thicker. A big reason I think was the stress of thinking about it. I was constantly running my hands through my hair trying to pull hair out to see if it was getting better, and I was only making the problem worse pulling 3-4 hairs out at a time.
I may be one of the lucky ones, or it was just a matter of time before my hair went back to normal, but I couldn't be happier about it.
PS. It took about 5-6 months post tane for the hairloss to stop, and about 8 months for my hair to look close to what it did pre-tane.
For those interested, I took 40mg/day for 6 months and started seeing hairloss in my 5th month. I was supposed to be on 80mg/day but I said fuck that!
