Thanks for ur reply, Max.
What would you suggest for the scalp irritation & itching I've already developed. There's also a small sore lump at the centre of my scalp.
I'm surely getting down to 20 from tomorrow on, even though my derm opposes this. According to him the drug is not effective below 30mg/day.
Thanks again!!
hey guys, so i just finished my treatment and i definetly have notcied somethings up with my hair. I've never seen any hair on my pillow or anything like that but right above my temples the hairline has definetly receded about a centimeter on both sides, my hairline possibly has receded a tiny bit as well. My crown area really hasn't thinned or i havent noticed it. Do you guys think my hair will grow back? what can i do to save it?

I took accutane for the first time 3 years back and my temples & hairline was badly effected. It has never recovered even being on Minoxidil.
I am now on my 2nd round of tane and worried how bad things could go this time.
Hi Pity26,
I don't use Aloe vera in its shampoo form. I buy the Aloe vera that they sale at the store (fresh). I think mines was like $1.50 You can do this once a week or twice a week.
Peel the skin off and put it in a blender until it becomes liquidity. Then just apply it to your head and leave it there for 1hr. Then just wash off your head.
Its good too apply the aloe vera when you have a clean scalp so it can better absorps the nutrients.
Hi pity26,
I will recommend you to use products that contains anti inflammatory which will help people like us. I am currently using a product which contains copper peptide and azelaic acid, but it is difficult to purchase as the manufacture company doesn't sell it worldwide.
Hi pity26,
I have never use Nizoral before but I heard from a member here whose name is Nick (couldn't rememeber his nickname though). He told me that Nizoral literally solved his scalp itchiness and another chap whose nick is thilli55 who also had great result with Nizoral as well, so I think you should try it, but remember not to use it everyday. 3 times a week will be more than enough. And remember to prepare a good conditioner just in case you need it.
Guys,
Just an update. I met my derma today and brought to his notice the side effects I am facing.
He has now suggested me to bring down the dose to 10mg/day. If my skin continue to respond well with this dose then I could stick with it. Otherwise I'll go up till 20mg but no further.
Hope this works for me, else I am naked.

If I were you pity I wouldnt go on accutane. Try Vitamin b5, remember acne is caused by excess oil production, which b5 helps lower. But yea everyone here should give Vitamin E a try because vitamin e is a vitamin a regulator and it helps rebuild damaged tissue and other parts of the body. It's fat soluable so I wouldnt suggest over dose something like 400IU a day would be fine, which I read is normal amount. We are in this problem because of vitamin a excess, so try vitamin e to regulate the vitamin a, we should have been on vitamin during our accutane courses which I believe would've helped up stay clear of this mess. But eitehr way, don't go on accutane, If you have acne , try vitamin b5 it will work take something like 500mg a day if you dont see results your first weeek bump it up to 1000mg a day I had positive results on 1g a day. What I do now to keep the acne down is i rub my face with cotton pads around 3 times a day, mourning mid day and night, I always see build up of dead skin cells, and dirt. This is much better than washing your face with a cleanser only because I noticed that even if I wash my face with a cleanser I use the cotton pad after my face drys and it gets all da build up and is dirty after rubbing it, i rub it fairly not to hard but hard enough to scrub dead skin cells and other dirt off. this works well with a cleanser after using the pad, and at night after you cleanse your face, use a benzol peroxide cream over night, I do this and it helps alot, the only hassle is using it ddaily which sucks, but i'd rather do that then accutane. and I know that eventually my skin has to stop gettin zits maybe in a few more years, thats fine but I rather have zits for a while then possibly runing more my hair than i alraedy did on accutane, I wish i never took it, piece of crap only worked for a year then acne came back and to top it off hair started to fall out and thin, I would have been fairly ok with it if my skin would be clear atleast since the hair wasnt but now i have another problem on top of the acne which i had, fucking accutane is a piece of shit.
Hi Mikey,
Well I am not sure how well Vit B5 works but I suspect it would also have hair fall & scalp drying effects. I am now in such a tricky situation. I've tried almost everything for acne and seems accutane is the only last resort. It does make my hair condition worse but I think I'll have to live with it. I am applying minoxidil to counter act it and probably in a few months time I'll have to give a try to Propecia.
can't help it.

Hey dude,
I see your from england, please don;t go back on accutane. Do the following.... Purchase hibiscrub online ( a skin cleanser used by doctors to prepare their hands before surgery). Then also purchase topical ibuprofen and apply this once daily at night after you cleanse with the hibiscrub.
This will clear your acne up completely i garuntee. Add light therapy if you want to improve your skintone etc aswell.
Hey guys, Ive been reading through the posts on this thread (well lots of them anyway - it is a very long thread) and Ive gotta tell you, im scared. I havent actually begun accutane yet (doc says i wouldnt qualify for it) but Im (or was) very tempted - ive had enough of acne. Anyway the only thing thats preventing me from starting a course is worries over hair loss and reading the posts has just exacerbated these worries.
Just a question for you guys - was it worth it? I mean did it even work? Nobody seems to mention their acne? If it does indeed work then Ill take the risk i guess but if it only sometimes works I might think again.
Hi faust,
Well in my case accutane is definitely working quite well for acne. I am on my 3rd week and my skin is doing quite well, it feels my skin has never been this good. But it comes with its own price. My hair are falling very aggressively. Every time I shampoo i loose about 100+ hair, and i know its gonna be very bad for my already receded hairline. I am recalculating my options now, lets see how it goes.
HTH.

when you guys say that your hair falls out when you shampoo or something liek that, does that mean that when you rub your hand through your hair when you shampoo you see hairs on your hand? I definetly noticed thinning while i was on accutane, but i never saw actual hairs fall out of my head.
Hi Guys,
Hope u all r doing well with skin & hair. News not very good at my end.
I have stopped tane because of excess hair fall and now I feel my skin is slowly going back to its earlier state. Today i noticed small red bumps appearing which looks very scary. seems like they would be turning into giant acne. I need to see my derma on 5th Jan, when he'll tell me the next course of action. don't really know what's left for me.
I'll give this hibiscrub & Ibuprofen a try. And now i am going on holiday until new year, so i can't start anything new. It clearly sucks.
Good luck.
Accutane is trash , its only temperary anyways but it's sideeffects are not. You'll have clear skin for 1 or 2 years but lose your hair in the process. I rather have my hair since acne might go away on its own giving it ttime and you can just use other methods to deminish acne, and B5 might make your hair fall out to but remember its water soluable, so excess will not cuase long term damage you just have to keep an eye on the levels of the other vitamins in your system so taking a multi vitamin is good with b5.
Hi!
I took Accutane for four months, stopped during the summer and then for another three months. When I started taking it again after the summer, my hair started to fall out. Now it's a year later and my hair has come back. The thing is, my acne is back too and my derm thinks I should go on another course of Accutane. But I don't know, will I loose my hair again? Why do you think it didn't loose it the first four months? Has anyone taken Accutane again after experiencing hair loss?
