I'll post some pictures soon. You may be able to ween yourself off rogaine if it works and your family doesnt seem to have MPB to begin with. However if it's common in your family you probably need to keep using it, at least until they begin to offer hair cloning/ follicle neogenesis treatments. Check out a company called intercytex- they're almost finished with phase II trials and a product may be available as early as 2010.

MPB doesn't come into most cases of accutane hairloss...

Im glad to hear tht Lamarr, is it typical for me to have had a recovery like i did in feburary to almost regaining 80% of my hair back and now shedding it again. Do you think the vitamin b5 had something to do with my hairloss again? I looked around and saw some people experienced hairloss on b5? what do you think of it? if so we should be takin less b5, i know it will mean more acne because b5 is a acne stopper but we can always use that 2% benzoyl peroxide with a face wash everyday, that works wonders for your face..

I think for either telogen effluvium or diffuse alopecia areata, it is common place to have relapses so to speak.

What people need to remember with this hairloss is the following. Niether of them scar the hair follicle like it is scarred with male pattern baldness, there is always the chance for full recovery. In some of us e.g. me, if you have other auto-immune problems from accutane i am far leess likely to recover, which is why i have always said if hairloss is your only problem, chances are you will be fine.

If you recovered once i am sur eyou will again.

Using copious amounts of rogaine (rubbing generous amounts into my entire scalp, going through about one bottle every week and a half) has definately resulted in regrowth of some of my hair- I have lots of short, thick little hairs coming in around my hairline and elsewhere (i'm hopeful that the same is also happening on top, but I can't see up there so not sure). The catch is that I still lose a ton of hair every day, especially when putting the rogaine in. My hand is practically covered in hair when I rub the stuff into my scalp. Though I lose less in the shower now, indicating that those were probably hairs I was going to lose anyway. Still have an itchy scalp that itches really bad in one spot and leads to three of four hairs coming out at that spot. I'm using Revita every day and Nizoral every three days, followed by Nioxin conditioner... wish the damn shedding would just stop again already...

Hey guys, I have sort of good news, My mom told made for me this water substance you put in your hair and it helps with the hair text ture and dryness and to me it seems like it promotes hair growth, I asked her what it is and she said its just ALOE VERA she adds a lil bit of water and take the inside of the aloe vera and puts it in a cup and then i pour it on my head and rub it in gentely. your supposed to leave it in for about 40mins dont let it dry, after that go was it off only with water. then pat dry softly your hair and you'll see wonderful results. I never mentioned this but i tried this before when i was first experienceing hair loss and my hair started to regrow and stop shedding, im trying it again to see if it was because of it i stopped shedding. But give it a shot aloe vera is very cheap. any questions contact me

Aloe Vera is a good way to treat hair loss. Many people use various products that contain aloe Vera for maintaining thick and healthy hair.

One can apply aloe Vera gel on the whole scalp and hair so as to treat hair loss.

Actually, aloe Vera includes the enzyme which is beneficial in stimulating the new hair production.

It has properties of anti-inflammatory which are helpful in fighting against Androgenetic Alopecia.

got it from hereAloe vera info [Edited link out]

JNT and Mikey - wow - we have VERY similar stories. My loss was FINALLY decreasing. I was finally under 100 and should have been so excited and was starting to notice regrowth all over the top of my head....and then out of nowhere, for the last 3 weeks, my hair started pouring out of my head again. Lost 400 hairs yesterday and on Thursday. This is the 13 month mark for me as well. Maybe our hairs are just trying to "right" the cycle so since we shed a ton last year at this point, the cycle of our hair growth is currently in a "pattern". I have NO idea what to think of the situation. Can't believe this is starting all over again. At least last year, i had hair so losing 400 a day took some time to notice. Already just these last few weeks, i have lost what I was regrowing and then some. This is so ridiculous.

JNT -i freaked out that it was the goldwell stuff that was increasing my shed, so i stopped it. Went back to what I was previously doing with activ m and kgf growth serum from hair actives.

I had a very itchy scalp before all of this started so i was assuming I was heading towards a bad shed.

hey gracie you should try the aloe vera, like i said in my previous post, it does great to your hair, it actually make the hair texture much better and your hair becomes fuller and you feel regrowth, since we aa ot te this will def help up aloe vera has anti inflamitory effects.. give it a shot and let me know how it went. just get 1 aloe vera leaf and cut it open and take the inside slimy part mix a bit wit water it still has to be slimy a bit and put it on your head for about an hour and wash it off you'll see a difference, it gets better during the week, you should do this every week or 2 weeks for maximum resulst, i want to know if its just me that aloe vera works for maybe it works for you guys to.

mikey- did you say you use the aloe vera thing once a week? or once a day? Aloe vera is great for your skin so i'm assuming it's good for your hair too, regardless of whether or not it helps with the accutane shedding.

It is always a pleasure to come back on this forum which helped me a bunch with my acne .. and after with my shedding.

It passed exactly an year since i finished my tane treatment(6 months- 30 mg) , and i am finally glad of my hair condition... i cant say im the happiest man on the planet regarding my hairline but finally my hair is starting to get that shape it had before ...

When i remember those showers i was taking and letting over 100 hair im getting scared... coz now i loose during shower less than 10 hairs :P

I dont think the treatments i followed helped me in critical mood , the so called "secret" is the time... the period your body needs to eliminate that hiper quantity of A vitamin and carbs which tane induced.

I wish you good luck everyone .. im reading with max interest your comments and try to help when i can.

Btw: Cheers lamarr

Hey Paks91, I'm glad you're feeling good again and, your success story proves that there are hopes for all of us here. My treatments are minoxidil and topical steriod (recommended by lamarr and the hair speciallist) and I'm experiencing initial shedding from minoxidil currently. Hopfully, it work out fine in a few months time.

Just want to update everyone here on my Biotin supplement. After taking this for 2 months I began to get acne on my back so just a heads up.

I've stopped taking the biotin for 2-3 weeks now and my back acne is gone.

For now I just gonna let my hair do whatever it wants. :boohoo:

Gracie- I use the goldwell stuff before bed, about two hours after I shower. I dont lose very much with the goldwell because I put rogaine in after my shower and that pretty much causes whatever else i'm going to shed for that day to come out.

Observations: I am beginning to notice TONS of little new hairs poking up along my hairline, as well as vellus hairs (those tiny white ones) beginning to grow out a bit and gain a bit of pigment. This proves to me that my hair is still capable of regrowing. However, I still lose a ton of hair every day. Also, my crown is embaressingly thin. I went on a trip to a friends lake house and had to de-tag some of the pictures of me on facebook because when my hair is wet I look like I have a bald spot :(

I can't tell if i'm getting similar regrowth on top because I can't see the top of my head obviously. It's 10 1/2 months since my last dose of accutane... hoping very much that the shedding will start to finally slow down and stop by the one year mark.

Also, in response to the biotin post: biotin hasn't caused me any problems with acne- I've been on it for at least eight months now. It makes my hair grow faster and thicker.

Jnt,

If you're seeing regrowth then you still have a good chance of your hair growing back. Especially when you're only 10 months after tane.

My last tane treatment was in spring of 2006. I notice that after 12-15 months my shedding decrease by at least half. My only problem is I don't see regrowth so I'm worried about that.

Mikey - did you just buy an aloe plant and use that? Do you think you could just use aloe vera gel?

I think your best results would have to be the aloe plant. The aloe gel has some chemical in it and you want to get the least amount of chemical on your scalp.

Jnt,

If you're seeing regrowth then you still have a good chance of your hair growing back.

I dunno man, the stopping of shedding is a more important thing. I have always had constant regrowth.... and so do many others.

im seeing tons of regrowth in these past 2 weeks, since i've been using aloe vera, yes i jsut get the plant leaf and slice it open ...and put it in the blender and let blend until you get a slimy substance, and you apply that to your head for about 1 45 mins every week, and this thing works, i totally forgot back in december whe i first tried this that it was helpin, i just thought i was gettin over my shedding, but its the aloe vera because this is the second time, and it is a powerful anti inflammitory and the connection is if we have AA this will def help even if we dont just try it, it wont cose you more than 2 dollars for a leaf you can use for about month or more..give it a try and let me know of the results...

edit: make sure that you take off the green stuff, just blend whats inside the gel lookin stuff.
